While around there are a few issues I have noticed with quality of certain assets or rollingstock, all of which taken on PC. 1. PZB indicators on the talent 1 are too dim and hard to discern. As shown in the picture below [1] (100% brightness) the in-cab indicators for the PZB are too dim and at times hard to tell what it is displaying [1]: 100% brightness PZB indicator on Talent 1 2. Overhead wires in Austria. From the picture below you can see that the wires in Austria do not line up with the overhead cantilevers [2][3]. This is present with single mast sections only in Austria. The cantilever arms in Germany seem to be bigger which means the top wire lines up fine. There are also some weird issues in certain areas where the droppers have detached from the overhead wires and displaced in what seems a random order [4]. [2]: Catenary wire detached from top of cantilever [3]: Catenary wire detached from top of cantilever, noting interchanging wire does not have this issue. [4]: Dropper wires detached from catenary and contact wire. 3. Azuma Field of view. One of the best upgrades of TSW 4 were the improvements to the HUD but for the Azuma it isn't possible to drive with minimal HUD without the camera panned down slightly which feels a little unnatural and breaks any illusion the improved HUD gives [5]. It would be good to have the FOV slightly increased to allow for at least partial vision of the speedometer. Alternatively a minimal HUD with a small speedometer would be good. [5]: Panned vs Default View comparison Please post any other quality issues you have seen around TSW 4. Overall I am happy with TSW 4, I think it does a lot well but it still missing that final layer of polish.
FOV sliders are one of the most basic features in UE4, so should definitely be enabled. Most games using the engine on PC and Console have it on. If nothing else it's one of the simplest aids for motion sickness.
I know it does not help console users, but PC god mode has a massively increased FOV range. Pretty sure Jetwash confirmed it was now TSW4 compatible in another thread.
well godmode was compatible before too but now it has added in fixes for photo mode zoom incompatibility etc.
+1 to FOV slider, it’s such a basic requirement. Seems silly to me that DTG pushed towards offering a decent ‘look at the cab’ option, but failed to recognise the issue, where you can’t actually see most of the cab displays from the default POV.
Cab flickering issue still present on new locos (worse case of all is the vectron), issue has been visible since rush hour I think..
FOV slider would be good but it presents a bit of a pain when switching between different cabs where some are setup fine and some aren't. Maybe some sort of memory in the game where it stores what FOV you use for each piece of rollingstock (don't know about the feasibility of this though)
The adjustable height of view is to be introduced in TSW 6 after mini HUD 2.0 implemented fully in TSW 5.
Lighting is still poor without mods to tame the brightness, almost impossible to read the digital speed display in the Azuma. New catenary rendering discussed at length already but worst on ECML. Passengers spilling on to track at stations or simply stepping out the wrong side of a station. Reverb did not appear to make it into the Vorarlberg route.
probably best shown throughout this thread here https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/terrible-flickering.73909/#post-721995
Z-fighting between textures on overlapping planes. I would expect DTG have already tried fixing it with some WPO tweaks without success, but they can correct me if I'm wrong.
Could understand more if it’s just been found but it’s been around for about 2-3 years with varying degrees of intensity (some a ridiculous amount others an annoying amount) on each train (probably even each passenger or freight stock aswell) I’ve never seen any acknowledgment or any change to it thus far. Edit: It’s at a level I would happily pass on any dlc with it, especially since theirs zero guarantee of a fix, I really hope the class 142 doesn’t have it as Ive rather been looking forward to that route for sometime.
Hmm that is interesting because I don't ever recall seeing this issue. Is it specific to a platform or settings?
The shadows are even worse than they were in tsw3. That’s how I feel anyway. Really let’s the game down.
Antelope Valley has vehicles parked in lots that are floating in the air and some of the overhead bridges are not tall enough for intermodals to pass under. The lighting (auto exposure) is still terrible without mods and the headlight textures and flares on US locomotives is not realistic at all. These are simple fixes that should have never made it through beta testing.
