Having seen the latest announcement for 8th gen ECML layers: Xbox One, Xbox Series S and PlayStation 4 will get: HST (MML, playable and AI) Flying Scotsman (playable and AI) Class 66 (playable and AI) GWE (playable and AI) NTP (AI) SoS (AI) Glossop Line (AI) RHTT (AI) SEHS (AI) TVL (AI) WSR (AI) Please reconsider and allow 8th gen users to have the Class 158 as playable and AI services.. i personally would happily give up every single layer listed above if it means including the Class 158. It would be amazing to have this route with the Class 801, Class 66 AND Class 158.. in my own opinion all other layers are pointless in comparison and add nothing to the gameplay relative to what the Class 158 will bring. I genuinely love the ECML so far, the route has been incredibly well made.. but not going to lie a lack of Class 158 is a massive disappointment.. especially when a lot of the other layers that are included for 8th gen could easily be given up for the Class 158 could this please be reconsidered?
Each route is different in how it treats layers. Bml on 8th gen has 0 layers. Sehs is built differently most likely to be able to support all those layers with minimal issues or the trains don't take up as much memory
It does seem a little strange that other layers were prioritised over the 158. Especially as the 158 is so good.
It was just a few weeks ago that JD said the following about Class 158 layers on 8th gen: because of hearing this from JD i was fully expecting Class 158 layers for 8th gen on ECML.. so to go from having someone from DTG say Class 158 WILL be coming to 8th gen ECML to now suddenly not having them, disappointment is a huge understatement from me here
Idk what WSR and especially Glossop line could possibly bring to ecml as AI but I would happily trade those for 158 and 700 AI & services. If the performance on Gen 8 is that bad that they can't be added then that's understandable but I’d like at least attempt to drive them even with our current performance issues.
So far with the base layers included in the game, and playing on PS4 Pro, i've had zero performance issues on ECML on 8th gen so far, so this has really surprised me.. and i just feel massively let down by this news, when it was stated before that the Class 158 WAS IN for 8th gen!
It's dtg, what do you expect. I'm still waiting on rush hour passengers that was promised 2+ years ago
At the time of writing, this was correct. However, with testing, we've identified it to be the source of some issues with 8th-gen. We've given it as long as we can to make it work - the team have been working for most of the last week trying to ensure that there is as much in there as we can - but we haven't been able to include it at this stage. With the other content, this is one or two AI services, rather than a significant amount of 158 services. I know there's disappointment, we've tried to make it work, but we couldn't without the game crashing on 8th-gen consoles with that layer enabled.
Glossop line will add to Doncaster, AI wise, having Northern there will be the most important addition after the Thameslink & EMT layers. 323 isn’t the most realistic choice, but will be a lot more realistic than some of the other layers.
i appreciate you taking the time to reply JD, and of course the Class 158 not being able to be included on the ecml is not at all your fault. it's hugely disappointing though i'm not gonna lie.. the ecml route itself has been incredibly well made, it runs perfectly on my PS4 Pro too, but not having Class 158 layers added like i thought they would be is a real shame, when it would have really rounded this route off and made it the most enjoyable one ever made for me personally. i would love it if in the future this decision could be changed, i understand that will probably be unlikely, but having the Class 158 on this route would have been perfect
Hey folks. Just realised we made a mistake on the announce post: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...e-misleading-cash-grabbers.73947/#post-722645 Apologies for confusion- Series S will have access to Gen9 platforms to try (with the 158), but we do strongly recommend the reduced.
Hi JD, Just wondering as asked this in another thread. Will the journey mode let you choose between the timetables or is it set for one particular one? As I know you said progress carries over in the article but would be helpful to know
Hi, this might be relevant to the class 158 issues( I'm not a tech expert just something I have noticed). When using the 158 or MML HST in scenario planner, there is always a pause or stutter in the game when it approaches and loads in and sometimes have carriages/units missing. Its more noticeable on older routes like NTP or TVL that always run silky smooth. I use Xbox Series S. It does not do it with any other loco/ unit that I have used.
i'm starting to think this too.. i play on ps4 pro, have done since tsw2020 right through to now with tsw4. i have had zero performance issues with any route or dlc (even the huge london commuter with 1400+ services runs incredibly well on my end).. with the sole exception of mml. mml is literally the only route where i suffer game crashes of any kind, and i'm starting to think is it because of the way the class 158 was made by skyhook? whatever the reason i'm absolutely gutted i cannot access this for the ecml, because as i've said before the ecml route itself is incredibly well made by dtg, but not being given access to the class 158 or class 700 (but still given access to 11 other layers that are way less important) is a massive letdown. it won't stop me using the ecml as i do love the route.. but it for sure will feel like something big and significant is missing for me going forward i'd even like the option to toggle the layer, just to see how it performs on my end!
Maybe it would be a good idea to reflect those changes (and obvious differences between Gen8 and Gen9) in the Add.-on Database?
