The absolute numpties in this facebook group though, giving you a 7 day commenting ban for saying that a product shouldn't be released with so many bugs, thats how free speech works is it. https://www.facebook.com/groups/208763479804520/?ref=share
Nope. Thats not how free speech works. I have a dreadful cold that involves two lines on a test kit so I am a little shorter in my reply than is normal. Happy to discuss freedoms and the responsibilities that go with them when Im feeling a bit better..
While I hate people ranting over how bad the game is and try to convince us stopping aswell, this honestly also goes to far. I don't like TSW still having many unfixed bugs, but that doesn't stop me from playing it.
How many tsw games should dtg release for free? Infinite amount..... New things normally cost new coins. Free speech probanly includes a choice of whether you buy or not too....
How can you have a group that supposed to be for fans of the franchise and then they effectively stifle an opinion that doesn't fit with the truth? I wanted to buy it at release but given how short a time tsw3 was out before they dropped us for the latest bugfest I've chosen not to for now, I get how no game will ever be bug free on day one (it should be from a pride point of view if nothing else) but all I heard over the weekend was bug this bug that and it's just not on frankly, seems DTG has form for this nonsense, there's routes I would.like to play coming on 4 but I'm reluctant to spend a fortune again only to be dropped when the coffers run low again tbh.
Oh Im pretty vocal about shortcomings. Ways and means Andy, ways and means. I agree with you, there should be space to point out stuff. If its not welcome dont bust a gut trying to change stuff, find a more receptive forum. Also dont confuse the masses with your target audience- the seller.
I have never sought to change others opinions in this regard, if people choose to buy it that's nothing to do with me but you can't stifle the truth, that's just ridiculous.
I'm very much anti-DTG, but I really don't see the point of linking to random Facebook groups to insult them.
I think there's a conception somewhere tsw is a bi-annual or longer game. How many games are annual now. It's just normal
Actually TSW is the only game in my library that is. All the others release updates regularly for free and rely on DLC for the revenue stream. I appreciate theres plenty that do however, and Im OK with it if it brings good product. Generally though for me personally, its hardly ever worth it for what are often just reskins or a database change. (Not implying anything, thinking more about FM etc)
Interesting post - but maybe this should be in off topic? Anyway - the "numpty" is here now, how you doing? Free speech is welcomed, but there are rules, which everyone who joins, including yourself, must agree to, you broke one of the rules on 3 separate occasions, which is in black and white. So the "timeout" is justified. Are the rules harsh? Maybe, but you are the only one that has complained about it.
Surely it wasn't just for saying it shouldn't be released with the bugs? And if it was, make your own group with your own rules.
The truth is that it shouldn't be released in such a bad state if early reports are anything to go by, my opinion is the same.
This conversation feels like it's going in a dangerous direction. Different communities have differing codes of conduct. Moving to Off Topic. We try to keep things as free as we can in here, but I feel like this thread has descended into squabbling, so if it continues, I will lock it.
I didnt personally sanction the mute, one of my mods did, but when there is persistence swearing - especially witj facebooks own (admittedly ) awful community standards, we have to follow that too.
Genuine question. Three new routes all taking hundreds of man hours to build New trains all taking hundreds of hours to build A new photo mode A new public editor A new livery creator A new scenario creator I'm really perplexed that it should be an update for free. There's tremendous levels of work gone into these. If dtg charged £30 per dlc, another £20 for scotsman thats about £40, more expensive than tsw 4. I think a lot of people may need to prepare mentally for,, if a 5 comes along
Its an ongoing debate and in law often the answer is no, for good reasons. Not everyone can exercise their freedoms in a responsible way. I often suggest replacing the terminology of 'rights' with 'responsibilities' as it turns the notion from an entitlement based concept into an obligation based one.
I joined their Discord and they have more rules than the forums here as well as 2 mods for every regular member. I couldn't feel comfortable in such a place, and certainly don't feel a part of their community. More like a institution for people that can't handle negativity in any way shape or form. I couldn't even discuss TSW4 before it was officially announced because they don't allow discussion on leaks. No thanks, keep your prison, I'll stay on the outside.
Well maybe one of your rules should be that if one of the group members has his tongue so far up DTG's back passage that he jumps on ANY comment that criticises the franchise then they need to be reined in a bit aswell!!
I dont think anyone is suggesting for a moment that all of that should be free.. core updates on the other hand that get the product thats already been paid for up to a standard that it should have been at for release? Absolutely. But any such fixes are not to be applied to that already owned product, instead being placed behind a paywall containing routes that people may not want but which they have to buy in order to get those promised fixes. The fact that significant doubt exists that they will appear in the current iteration is neither here nor there. Only time will tell, but history can indicate the way..
The word pisstake is hardly a swear word, I know exactly who the mod was and I've mentioned him on another comment, is it really healthy for you to have that person on the team if they allow NO criticism ofnhis beloved franchise? I'd argue not.
Right, I'd warned about squabbling and now there are several snipe-y conversations going on. Locking this thread. I recommend everyone takes 10 minutes to grab a cuppa, do something they like, and come back with a different frame of mind. It's not enjoyable for anyone when threads become confrontation grounds.
