Sounds are definitely better on the 801 though the traction and point etc. clatter still a bit on the quiet side; guess that's the best we can hope for. Oh now I didn't get a chance to grab a screenshot but another bug I'm afraid. Arriving at Grantham on the Down Main platform there was another 801 stopped at the Up Platform. However passengers were either alighting or otherwise falling through the offside of the train in front of mine. That really is not very good at all.
I'd prefer that it be the 801, 66, FS and 158 only on the route at get rid of the other layers. I may well play this route on PC more than planned.
Forgot I hadn't put anything on here but the sound is much better and sounds much more like the real thing does. I think it may well be the best sounding and definitely looking unit in the game (no bias ) though still doesn't beat the good old diesel locos of BR.
This route should’ve been Kings Cross to Leeds. Wasted potential, as the Thameslink Class 700’s depart from Kings Cross (More layers). The route would’ve been more interesting, instead we just got a high speed route with endless fields and very little scenery. No passion when into this route apart from the locos. I will give them credit there though. It’s nice having the flying Scotsman and Azuma in the game.
Azuma Wiper parking position should be on the right hand side by default, where it's not obstructing the view - good we can switch it, but AI has all their wipers parked on the wrong side.
That would have been way too long. That's over 150 miles and considering the complex scenery, it wouldn't be able to be made within a reasonable time frame. You can't compare it to kassel-wurzburg since that route is just tunnels everywhere, scenery is the same throughout and there's only 3 stations to model while being straight. Kgx to leeds is much more complicated than that
A) Too long B) This route is about the Azuma, not the 700. C) This route would have been more boring, commuter services are dull and we have enough of them already (for UK at least), Azuma wise, you would have just had another 30 - 40 minutes of "full power, idle player" with maybe the occassional Stevenage/ Pbo stop for the relevant service. Also, endless fields and little scenery is what gives us long routes. More scenery = more processing power. More processing power = less services due to unstable program. D) No passion.... that's abit harsh. All the little details like the 250 miles sign and the FS speed plaque.
Patch is live on PS5 so giving it a go, there is an improvement overall on the soundset, but it’s still a little quiet in areas for me, mainly at slow speeds. Big improvement on the higher end though. Is GSMR supposed to be silent also? I miss my logging in tone. Also, is the suspension feature now live for the 801’s? Noticed my ride is quite noticeably more bouncy?
I’m on PS5 and I keep getting AWS slamming the breaks on for no reason. It’s so bad I turned AWS off and it still does it. 1B82 London Kings Cross to Newark Northgate. First stop Grantham and MFD shows Newark as next stop! Lighting is messed up going in and out of tunnels. Horrible blue-grey colour that lingers far too long. Seems rushed to get it out on time. Again. I get AWS emergency stop every time I go north out of Peterborough Four aspect lights go from flashing green to double yellow all the time which is wrong. AWS is a buggy mess.
Hmm, just ran 1S23 on PS5 and didn’t have any issues with AWS. Maybe you’re tripping TPWS by overspeeding? If you’re still getting it after you’ve turned off AWS, are you isolating just AWS or AWS & TPWS? There are 2 isolators, if you aren’t doing the latter, TPWS would still be active which would narrow down the issue. I am getting the same bug where my TMS is showing incorrect stops.
Similar here. I've had no issues with AWS/TPWS (Apart from the low volume, which has been fixed.) I've also had incorrect TMS displays, however I generally tend to ignore this because I experience it so often on so many routes. Still would be nice if fixed though
I definitely wasn’t speeding and I had restarted and not turned AWS TPWS on at all. It’s really weird and rather frustrating to say the least.
Just downloaded the PS5 patch and all the above issues have disappeared. Much better now. Interesting that the patch has a lower version number 1.002 replacing 1.007
Well that’s where I disagree. Having variety is better. Regional and express. Compare this route to the Antelope and S-Bahn. Two beautiful looking routes that again have variety in terms of the route itself, city to suburb to countryside. Slow to high speed. Maybe it’s a preference of mine and maybe I find high speed (only) routes a snooze fest. That could be my problem. This route has more interesting sections though which they could’ve added. I think you know that as well as I do. The selling point to this route though is the locos and not the route for me. I’m just very underwhelmed by it. 2 out 3 routes I enjoy. I guess I could call that a win still.
Well that’s the quintessential problem with the ECML, doesn’t matter how much 1m LiDAR DEM you throw at it, flat terrain is flat terrain. If you’re going to pick a boring route then don’t pick a boring train to go with it, which sadly after another drive the Azuma is. They could have picked any of its predecessor front line traction for a much nicer driving experience. The Class 91 would at least have given us a noisy electric loco to drive 50% of the time. A HST would have been legendary as would the Deltic. But no we got the 801 which, even after the sound buff, is like driving from a cocoon - almost as bad as the 1442 on RT. My Toyota Yaris Hybrid is more fun to drive quite frankly and sounds better, too. JT have shown the way with their Blackpool to Ormskirk route. Another essentially flat route through fairly bland countryside. But they have set the era perfectly giving us a noisy and quirky Class 142 as the main traction and all sorts of classic diesel action to go alongside. In future when DTG white board these projects, they should stop and consider that boring route and boring train (no matter how well put together) = unfulfilling player experience.
People can never make their mind up on what want huh? We want something different that's not the same as we’ve had before, but not too different because nobody asked for that. They can never win with us. Good thing the editor releases today, people can start practising and hopefully do what they want. -Some people don't like modern routes with modern traction -Others don't like period routes with old traction Although I must admit, I see more people criticise dtg for using modern traction than the other way around.
That'll be because DTG haven't made many period routes. I myself like modern routes, so I am happy with what DTG are providing. However, I do frequently see myself returning to Northern Transpennine and Spirit of Steam for a very different and enjoyable experience.
I don't really think the HST would have been a viable option in all fairness. Yes, it is an icon of british railways, and I know some people would have loved to see it.. However, after already having HSTs included in GWE and MML, albeit different variations, I know that myself and many others would start to get fed up and think "Oh look another HST.." Whilst I agree the 801 isn't the most exciting to drive, I would choose a new addition to the game rather than another variation of a pre-existing add-on
why not make everyone happy and choose to make it in a transition period while Azumas were still being introduced? When 801s, HSTs and 91s all roamed the ECML
It was what everyone was requesting. There were alot of suggestions asking for the ECML and the Azuma. So, I mean, it's what we asked for? If it turns out to be a duff call and a dull train.... in reality, DTG only did what we asked. I mean, I feel this one is mild bias, you do advocate for BR blue over modern frequently on suggestion theads! Nope, they do anything and there will always be a very vocal minority complaining (loudly) that "this should have been W/X train and the route should go to U/Z". Trouble is, I think some people here want a pure historical train simulator, rather than an all purpose one. Certainly other than JT's Blackpool route, I have no interest in BR blue/green stuff. But I wouldn't vocally complain about it, because I know some people enjoy it. I made this point as it would have been like the electrostar and ECW/BML and SEHS. Wether it has the same engines and dash or a minor modification, at the end of the day, its the same thing.
Time constraints. I'm not saying these things shouldn't be added in the future, but at launch, the better option would be to include new stock.
This basically and would have catered for all tastes. I would have taken a reskinned and reinteriored HST from MML with the VP185 being close to the Paxman sound. For those going on about HST overkill, well we have two short routes in the game that feature these, GWE with the original rather muted MTU variant and obviously MML. ECML with HST as the main traction would really allow them to stretch their legs. Compared to Electrostars we have next to nothing to run HST’s on. And a Class 91 hardly BR Blue era, they were the primary traction on the route up to a couple of years ago. I understand everyone has their preferences and while the idea of a Class 801 might have seemed like a good idea, those asking perhaps didn’t understand what a quiet (literally) and unexceptional driving experience it would provide. Now the train on Vorarlberg isn’t the most exciting but that is complemented by the route being really interesting. Great scenery, mixture of double and single track and of course the Vectron which is just, well, marvellous. Even Antelope Valley, the F125 is a pleasant driving experience and the route is scenic too going as it does from downtown LA out into the rural desert and canyons.
We probably will get an LNER HST for ECML. Last year they padded SEHS to high heaven with rolling stock, likely in no small part to it being a base game route. We’ll probably see loco packs for it, and I don’t think they’ll try to sell us another 66, the only way they could reasonably do that is by finally doing a GBRF livery. 43 seems the most likely choice to me, even if it wouldn’t fit the timeframe we’re supposedly in. Class 91 would be an assured DLC too, however it’s a big project & the 3 cabs it would need make me think it’s unlikely.
I didn't report this because i thought it would be fixed but in the class 801 the vigilance pedal still goes off even when placed in neutral.
This is why I really enjoy S-Bahn and Antelope. The environments are stunning, as opposed to ECML. I never thought I’d hear myself say I dislike any UK route. I hate being negative too, but you can’t please everyone I suppose, not even myself lol.
Sorry , but this is supposed to be the feedback thread . I don’t want to wade through posts about time periods or Regional or Express . There are other places for that . For the record , PS5 handset is still barely audible same with AWS
I beg to disagree. The choice of era is very relevant to the feedback. If those of us disappointed with certain aspects don't express that, the chances of DTG repeating a poor choice in future increase. And I'm certainly not saying either the route or train are badly made, well the Azuma sound is still fairly pitiful, just the particular combination. And certainly valid to compare with the Austrian and US route. I was really looking forward to ECML and, after I got my head round it, the Azuma. But in the end I don't really think the combination is that entertaining, which ultimately is the aim of the game.
I was of the opinion that this was a thread about performance etc , but each to their own. I don’t want to come across as an old git (I am only one of those things)
The sound patch yesterday has broken the tunnel / bridge occlusion which is a massive loss. Can this be fixed asap please?
Entertaining to you. Many others find the idea of a Deltic dull as dish water. Should this not be for feedback for the route ‘as is’, not what some wished it was?
I thought it was just the ongoing quietness of the Azuma when I noticed less bridge and tunnel reverb last night. Oh dear...
Yeah, not dismissing what you’re saying at all. Just that this route has a fair few issues that need feeding back, hopefully not getting lost in the noise. I’m hearing absolutely no change at all going through bridges and tunnels since the patch. Frankly I’d take the running sounds we had pre-patch with the occlusion than what we have now. Ho hum.
I’ve just read that someone here says that the AWS is now audible after the patch , but it’s not for me , not to mention hardly any sound coming from PS5 controller , not to mention the bridges and tunnels issues as mentioned by JetWash Please keep this channel clear (as they say in films) Edit :sound improved on AWS but not on other controller sounds
Anyone else having an issue with service 1S06 being stopped at a red signal between PBO and GRA due to an AI service to Hull being stopped incorrectly at a green signal ahead of it?
I have the update. Like the new electrical wurr. The sounds are much better and louder. Still quiet in the cab but I guess that's realistic. But... Door sounds still too quiet and open too fast, Exterior P.I.S still not actually showing up and only scrolling, Vigilance alarms still going off when reverser is in neutral.
Ok, so I have the update now but I have one question. How do I make the AWS sounds play through the tv with the rest of the audio instead of through the controller speaker? I've turned the controller speaker sound right down and there's no AWS audio playing through the tv.
I was just wondering that as I fired the game up today (finally). I was stopped at a station in front of a signal and couldn't see it clearly.
Service 1A06 07:12 in the Class 801/2 has yellow signals throughout the journey and there’s nothing in front, except on arrival into Newark Northgate. This is on Gen 9 at least.
These are signals that have an interlock with level crossings nearby. They go to green once the gates are down and locked. DTG is looking into retiming these gates so we don't get so many yellows.
In general a great route and pretty much every issue I've had (so far) has already been mentioned at least once in this thread. The only things I haven't seen mentioned are some fairly minor issues about Newark Northgate station. Obviously it's a very simplified model so nobody's expecting perfection, but a couple of things do stand out above others: I do find it hilarious that there are a couple of cafe tables placed directly outside the toilets. That's pretty much the last place on the station where you'd want to stop for a nice drink. You'd be better off in the waiting room on platform 2/3, although the shop there appears to be completely missing. The information screens are turned 90 degrees. When you cross over the bridge to platform 2/3 you should see two screens facing you as you reach the bottom of the steps (very handy to confirm which train is coming in next). In TSW4 the screens face the platform edge, which seems to be entirely pointless (who's going to be able to see that?) No coach/train stop markers. Not all that important unless you want to actually know where to stop your train. None of these are game breakers; it's just a shame to see so much work go into these models and then just a couple of things spoil the effect. Well, kind of. Ah, maybe it's just me.
Yes I’m getting the same low aws volume on ps5 remote too. I’ve turned the controller volume down so aws sounds come through tv instead until they can fix it.
Is anyone else experiencing issues when going to download content like liveries or scenarios i can't download it just says i need to buy the content, even though I have it...
For me, the patched AWS alerter volumes are now passing the "streaming test", which is, I listen to a classical music stream in the background while playing. Also, now that I have run the route several times, I am getting way less studder.
I'm sure these issues have been mentioned but, numbering on the 801 seems to not function properly with every train running as 801 234, Gangways and piping/wiring don't connect at each end to their respective coaches. It's disappointing that even with early access that these very simple to spot bugs weren't fixed before launch... I can only speculate on why these weren't caught before early access but I won't do that here. I have included screenshots of the numbering being wrong for a 5 car 801/1 and the not connected piping/wires and gangways. Apparently I can't upload directly here so Imgur it is: https://imgur.com/a/tf53sRR
