  1. I think there might be a terminology and concept issue here.

I have TSW3 and continue to enjoy it. I have not got TSW4 at this point. All my content for TSW3 is A-OK and I continue to enjoy that likewise older content for TSW2020 which was my last purchase prior and which has been amalgamated effectively into TSW3.

While obsolete it is still fully functional.

Any content for TSW4 will not be backwards compatible which is fair enough.

You don't need to own the latest TSW to enjoy old routes, you'll just miss out on any future updates.

That is one thing very notable and worthy of praise of DTG, that this game is offered on so many platforms - no other game that I own has had that kind of coverage.

I'm aware backwards compatibility is not an option. However, your situation is different as you own TSW3 and can wait to purchase TSW4.

As you've probably seen, I've repeatedly said I play the game in the order the DLC was released so, if possible, I'd be on TSW2020 but I'm on TSW2.

I want to play TSW2020 (only because I wasn't aware you couldn't still purchase older versions until someone on the Discord told me) with TSW2020 content and so on with each version of the game.

All I ask is that we're given the option to purchase older versions of the game when WE want and keep it in the store.

No discount needed. If they keep it in the store, I'll pay the full price. Just don't force us to purchase it when THEY want.

That's what I have been trying to say this whole time but people constantly parse my statements, ignore these facts and quote only part of the messages I post.

Respectfully, I’m pretty sure it’s the developer’s right to decide if a game is obsolete, if they no longer support it…

Respectfully it's my right to play the game how I see as is especially when keeping the older versions of the game in the store will not deter from any other versions.

But go ahead and not quote my latest post

I saw it, I just disagree with it. I get what you’re saying and I say to each their own and no fault with it. It doesn’t mean the developer has to keep it listed tho.
I can like your style of play but also see why the older versions are not listed…

It's your right to play it as you want it but it's also DTG's right to stop selling a product. It just don't make sense to leave previous versions up for sale. Older versions reflect the game how it used to be but does not reflect how the game is today.

You can't watch the original version of Star Wars: A new hope because George Lucas does not want to you to see that version.

And I’m guessing there’s a cost involved of listing a game in the online store, why would DTG want to keep paying it for a game they no longer support?

I am pretty sure DTG are not *MAKING* anyone buy anything.

if I were to fire up Microsoft FlightSim 95 on my computer now, I’d still have all the stock and content that was available for it all those years ago, but would Flight Sim X ((or whatever the latest version is)) stuff all work with FS95? I don’t think so. So I’m left with a *CHOICE* . . .

    1) Stick with FS95 and enjoy that game. Knowing there are no updates or support for it….

    2) Buy the latest version of the game to enjoy all the modern content ?

The only very very very very slight grounds for any form of criticism is maybe one year apart is a little earlier for an upgrade than some people would like, but then Apple brings a new phone out every year at a £1000 a pop so who cares at the end of the day ? If you want to buy it go for it, if not stick with what you enjoy.

With the threat of nuclear war everywhere, there’s far more important things to be worrying about. Life’s too short - get out, smell the freshly cut grass, take in nature, breathe some oxygen in the countryside before it’s too late. You never know when your time is up

Imagine the forums filled we new users who need to be explained that bug x is fixed in a later version. The tantrums of entitlement that will follow on our replies will be really deafening :D

But if Microsoft still promised fixes for FS95 and then only put them in FSX, the situation becomes way less ok. Let alone if FS95 was a year old game.

  20. Yes, how dare they expect bug fixes for a product they've bought, especially when they've been promised. But we've been here before, no need to go around again. Anyway, what you propose is totally unlikely. Bugs fixed in a later product? Good one

So by making it impossible for new users to buy versions that will not be patched DTG is in the wrong again?

  22. Not at all. Probably a miss-communication.. I think I understand your point now. Removing abandonware from sale is undoubtedly the safest strategy.
Just be aware that your gem today is obsolete tomorrow (in annual terms anyway  ).

Lovely how everyone has a right to an opinion, but you still think we angry folks are basically lying about not buying the game. That we will eventually cave in...

Lying? I'm not saying you are lying about not purchasing. I'm just doubting the will power. Nice routes, nice trains. I've played it and I am so amazed by it I indeed think some of you angry folks will cave.

He has a point to a degree. There are quite a few who have moaned and groaned about TSW3 and now TSW4 who just end up buying it up (and then groan again). But to think everybody would be in that same bucket is a bit odd. There are plenty of us who want it to be better, but would rather wait to see actual results rather than banking on hope yet another time. It's happened far too often in the past.

No worries, Starfield is a fine way to spend time and since really good reviews are now popping up for CP77, might end up trying that too. By then Simrail might have the ETCS, graphic and steam update, so we'll see how they move along in rail simulation. Oh there's also the new season for Sea of Thieves coming up - with upgrades and fixes... for free. :D

Indeed Starfield and CP2077 are occupying my time nicely these days. However I still pop into TSW2 here and there to enjoy a journey. As for Simrail, it looks good, but I'm not yet convinced. Maybe the videos I've been watching are dated, but from what I saw of the scenery the trees were popping in like crazy not far ahead of the train. Hopefully they could fix that as the rest of the game looks great.

I canceled my Game Pass subscription because TSW4 is way more fun than Starfield. I don't even understand angry folks complaining about TSW4 but enjoying Starfield. Weird as for it's development time it's a very outdated gameplay and still filled with bugs. Phantom Liberty I will pick up in sales as TSW4 will occupy my time at the moment. seems like DTG can even compete with the big boys on consoles :D

*sigh* You again ... I wonder when you will stop doubting that there are people who will not buy the current offer ... anyways
Reading the feedback, I'm glad I haven't bought yet. Thanks for all the beta testing. Because that it is. Lets see when the first really big patch comes. I think christmas, together with a nice route I'm really interested. But I'm not betting on it.

He’s been trolling this and other threads for many days (and by trolling I mean deliberately trying to wind other people up) but gets terribly bent out of shape if he’s called out on it. Just ignore him (thankfully he’s ignoring me) and this thread would be much more useful for everyone.

I was interested in the JT route but I just struggle to have to buy a product I don’t want to get a product I do, even though I bought the last update less than a year ago just to buy a product I wanted (BCC)

I’ll give it a miss for now, the newer routes that have been released lack much appeal. I was very excited about Spirit of Steam, bought it and I think I’ve played it 4 or 5 times due to the lack of interaction with other traffic and emptiness of the route and lack of fixes to the locos, the next was BCC but the 323 issues with AI doors opening and closing and the unit rolling backwards and lack of other traffic I generally got nothing out of it after a few runs and that was pretty much the same with MML.

After the TSW4 announcement I felt even more let down.

MSFS and DCS World are the only games I’ve played since since MML basically came out, Playing in VR online with VATSIM or with friends is a different story!
