Looks like fixes are coming on the 26th next week when the DLC become available for TSW4. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/train-sim-world-4-–-what-you-need-to-know.73462/
Hi Everyone, Just to set the context of the above, SOME fixes are coming in the TSW4 version because as part of the launch process DTG took a snap shot of the latest state of MML (which was many weeks ago). As previously mentioned, all changes are being made to the TSW3 version which are automatically ported to the TSW4 version. So when MML arrives on TSW4 it will essentially be a preview of the work currently in progress. The updates are still on going and much has advanced since the version for TSW4 was taken. All the best.
Mmh, considering how long this has been going on for console users I’m not sure this sounds as positive as I’d have expected it to be.
I think an issue that really needs to be sorted is the door control on the 158. Unsure about other platforms but on XB Series S, the doors take forever to open and close, meaning it is virtually impossible to stick to timings - unless you either enter free camera or leave the cab and control the doors using the guard panel - which just breaks immersion. Also a less important note, however one that bugs me is the stopping markers at Nottingham, particularly on Platform 3 on trains heading to Derby or Leicester - The trains stop too far down the platform.
That's because people complained they opened and closed too quickly (all at once) So they changed it to be as per real life, and then people complained again because it was now too slow (but as per real life). It was a literal "want cake and eat it". But it takes about 30 seconds to run down, unless you 3 cam and close the Guards door manually
I don’t have a problem with them changing it, it’s a clever feature (although I personally think it makes the stops too long). I do have a problem with them only doing half a job and not adjusting the timetable to match the longer stopping times. So you are nearly always late. That virtual guard needs sacking for deliberately delaying trains!
Sorry to hear that Dinger. We've had more tests on fixes for the crash this week. What was the service you ran?
The light still bleeds badly through the HST at night. 5 months later and still not fixed. Spawned a MML HST at Doncaster on the ECML and it’s still the same issue so it’s not the route but the vehicle itself.
Is it just me or does midland main line now look way better on console(I'm on an Xbox series s) since it's been added to train sim world 4? It seems to run much smoother, and I think they've changed the track ballast colour and the colour of the power station to make it look more like the real life one? *Edit I just went back to check it on train sim world 3, and my eyes were not deceiving me, they have improved it for train sim world 4, I love the new track ballast and power station colours
Apologies if this has already been answered or not. But when will we be getting the updated timetable for MML?
That was released a few months back, there's more services now than when it was originally released, unless there's another new timetable in the works
There is no new timetable for MML planned beyond what is currently available. If you have suggestions of further service expansions feel free to propose them though. There are no plans to extend the route to further destinations as Train Sim World does not support this. TSW4 has a limited preview of the updates we've been working on for MML. All changes have been made for release to the TSW3 version, which are then automatically ported up to the TSW4 version. I have no release date for these updates at the moment, but we don't plan to release them until we have a fix for the PS5 crash. Another solution for which has been circulated for testing this week.
I was desperate to play this route so I thought I'd try playing the "Chasing Yellows" scenario, just in case a scenario would be more stable than the timetable. A foolish mistake. The game crashed just as I was pulling into East Midlands Parkway. In case it's relevant, HST services seem to crash a lot more than the 158 services. I'm not saying the 158 services are stable, I've definitely had them crash too, but I can recall more times I've had a HST service fail. I'm on PS5 (unfortunately).
extensive networks and merges (Midland Mainline, ECML, WCML) are the reason TS Classic will still have a future. That´s the one thing TSW can´t seem to do....but don´t get me wrong, I´m otherwise really enjoying the new game.
So you’re company spokesperson talking about extensions to here there and everywhere was talking through their rear end!?
Because they gave it out for free. SHG can extend MML - but it would either have to be a free update or a separate route.
All this talk of extensions... let's not get ahead of ourselves. Remember this is THE most unstable route in TSW history, in my experience. I wouldn't trust them to add so much as an additional bush somewhere in case the whole thing falls apart, let alone a Meridian. Right now, I just want the route to be playable.
High Adam, just wondering if there has been a fix found for the missing freight services in timetable mode when spawning on foot?
No, that one has me perplexed, in all the years I've been developing gameplay for TSW. Knowing Unreal, it will be a tick box somewhere, but so far I've not located it. WRT to SEH being 'extended', DTG used the budget and income of TSW3 launch to pay for replacing the previous version of that route. With all routes and trains moving from TSW2 to TSW3 it was a seamless replacement to leave the short version behind and move forward with the longer one. Even TSC doesn't support route extensions the way everyone thinks. The merged versions are a physical new copy alongside the originals. The only reason TSC routes are longer overall is that with less detail its literally faster to build and so possible to go further in the same development time frame. More automation is needed in TSW route development to unlock longer routes. The latest investigation on the PS5 crash front is pointing at SpeedTree data in the foliage used on MML. We're currently comparing how MML foliage differs to other routes to try and understand why the PS5 doesn't like it.
I just wondered if you could look into why you can't see Ratclliffe Power Station from a distance and why it suddenly just pops into view when close to it. ( Xbox Series S). I know there is a certain amount of pop in on all routes but this is really bad. On a positive note the pauses and stutters are better around the approach to Long Eaton.
Excellent, thank you. It's the only thing spoiling it for me to be honest, it's a great route and traction.
Unsure if this has already been reported or if it’s just an unfortunate bug on my end, however I have noticed that on HST services, both the lead and rear powercars have the same number. I know it’s not a huge issue, but just thought I’d raise it.
When fixing the lettering of the coaches I looked into this and believe it is fixed and ready for the next patch.
So this is a tricky one. The lights on the train were 10x brighter than the equivalent GWR version so that has been remedied. However, shadow casting lights are very expensive, thus ideally that function is not active on them (ie the light will not be blocked by surfaces such as the coach interior walls). So, it's a balancing act to make the lighting large enough to appropriately illuminate the interior, but not so large they begin to illuminate surfaces outside the train. We're working with beta testers to find the sweet spot.
So I've now had 4 crashes whilst attempting to run scenarios and journey mode on MML for TSW4. This is the most crashes I've ever had with a TSW game and the most crashes I've ever had on any route.
Steam issue on tsw4 cant load the route just a blue sky then crashes the game have tried to uninsall and reinstall to no avail same with london to brighton any ideas thanks
Somethings changed on the route, the first thing I noticed was that ballast texture, but it feels better now…
I would love to see access to serve the power station i thought i heard in the stream they had when midland main line came out that the track was built into it for something possibly later on no guarantee they said
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this in the thread but I have to ask this. Why is there what looks like a T-key slot in the passenger door windows next to the coach lettering?
ill have to try that out ..i did spawn at the spur to power station in free roam but would only let me walk to a point then a block could not go further ..but will try timetable free roam like mentioned to see if it lets you in with a train or engine
Thank you.. I tried the free roam timetable and it worked spawned a class 66 and set route around the loop track and was in
it's used by the guard on 4 car services (when two 2 car services are joined together) to change the coach letter.. so the guard can change the letter of the coach between A and D (and B and C).. so instead of a 4 car service having lettering of A-B-A-B.. the t key can be used to change the lettering to A-B-C-D, hope that helps!
