Very impressed with the route! For sure one of the best ones yet in my opinion. It looks amazing. Lovely villages and the nature looks very good. Mountains are a big improvement. Also a shoutout to the work on the grass. All 3D modelled and different types and colours mixed so it’s not just a bland uniform green carpet. Reminds me of Niddertalbahn, which is great. The Talent 1 is also a lovely unit to drive. Beautifully modelled. Schedules are tight and busy which creates fun rides since there are tons of AI trains passing by. However, part of the schedule seems so busy that some chaos is happening. I just completed the R5 (25857) St. Margrethen to Dornbirn service at 16:47. I ended up in Dornbirn with a major 15 minute delay due to traffic jams/red lights. A lot of services around it are also heavily delayed. Curious to see if anyone else also experiences this major delay on this particular service. (If that is the case, I think I have an idea of what’s causing it. So I can try to describe it later in detail.) These things have also been mentioned before: - The on/off states of the PZB, and Sifa lights are not very distinguishable in daylight. The sunlight seems to light up all the unlit lights as well. Increasing the brightness of the lights to 100% doesn’t make a real difference. - Furthermore, the PIS boards which show all departing trains for the next couple of hours are indeed a bit blurry/low res. And some early night trains keep creeping in starting in the early afternoon. If I spawn on foot at Bregenz at 13:15 for example, a 01:15 train shows up at the first line of the PIS board. At 14:15 a 02:14 train as well, at 15:15 a 03:14 train, etcetera. 12h/24h issue perhaps?
Absolutely my new favourite of the TSW4-routes! My personal candidate for the route of the year 2023. Only a few flaws/issues I have found so far (TSW4, PS5, general): - The time between the actual time and the scheduled time on the Station PIS-Screens differ by one hour (was UK-time used as reference?) - some spelling mistakes on the collectible route maps (eg. SCHARZACH instead of SCHWARZACH or VORARLBURG instead of VORARLBERG)
G’day all, I am currently playing on my Xbox Series X and I’ve noticed something weird (between the services I’ve been playing) with the voltage changeover which happens near Nenzing, Austria, which requires the player to change over voltage in this area but my question is why? From the literature I’ve read on the ÓBB website, their main voltage in Austria is 15Kv. I’m currently driving a freight train between Bludenz and Wolfurt which is service number 66191 Salzburg to Wolfurt, utilising the Vectron loco, and I reckon I see the voltage changeover more than once (obviously for the entry into Germany if you seldom go that far) but why do you need to change to Austrian 15Kv if you’re already on Austrian 15Kv, in Austrian territory? And the sign triggers the voltage changeover driver assist message but there is really no need for it. Unless, of course you’re modelling that area with that particular sign involved. But it shouldn’t trigger a message if there is no need for the action to be taken as in the context of present ops on this route. It also disables the locomotive until you go through the process of opening the MCB/dropping the pantograph, then making connection again to the overhead, closing the MCB then continuing on your Mary way. I understand that it might be like that in real life but in real life you have multiple services coming from different areas of Europe with different voltages in play. Has anyone else had the same issue? I’ve noticed the same thing on the Dresden route as well, there’s no need to change over voltage whilst being on the same and this particular case, German 15Kv source. Are there particular points where it changes to 25Kv or what? What I liked about the French changeover voltage message is that it actually told you which power source to change over to, pretty self-explanatory once you’ve learned it but still useful. Where as on the Austrian & German routes currently in TSW4, it doesn’t give you any indication on what voltage to select over to. In my humble opinion, this needs to be changed to enable players of all calibres to changeover correctly without having to think, “Oh, which one do I choose whilst on the move?” It’s alright for me as I know which voltage is which (most of the time) but for new or returning players who don’t have that experience on the European routes, it could be quite daunting. The message also doesn’t stay up long enough for one to read and process it. Other than that, I love playing this route. You’ve done a brilliant job on the Vectron loco by far. Some of your best work to date. For now, keep well and I’ll keep an eye out for other things. Cheers, Rail Fan 95
From what I have and played the route is great, one small issue the timetable service I choose for the Vectron was a fail. Service 53218 you never get to leave the yard you are for ever stuck at a red light.
If anyone is interested, I made a video tutorial about the Austrian signalling system on the Vorarlberg route (based on ÖBB Infra, Dienstvorschrift 30.02, Betriebliche Richtlinien, Signalbuch, Stand: 11.06.2023, V 11.0). I know, the video is lengthy, but you can jump to the tutorial bits easily: Color light signals Speed signalling Power/OHLE signalling Protection & shunting signals If you spot any errors or inconsistencies or have any additional information, please don't hesitate to tell me! You can also see how hidden the exit signals at Lindau main stations are and how an AI Vectron shows three red lights as a weird head end signal. A video tutorial covering the safety systems also exists now. (I meant to post this on the community help pages, but didn't find that section anymore in the new forum structure, so I hope it is okay to post it here. If not, feel free to move or delete the post.)
I reckon it's just a neutral section, it's just a matter of popping the main circuit breaker open before and closing it after. No need to change country codes Reason-wise, think you're always being supplied with power by the nearest substation, and the overhead line is your giant extension cord to the substation. For physical reasons each substation can only cover so many miles of track. So at some point you're switching from one substation's supply zone to the next, and the two must never be electrically connected, so between the two there is a gap in the overhead power supply.
Changing the system does more than just changing the voltage. It also changes some behaviours according to the rules of the respective country: Also, if you could just use the German system, it would likely need to be named differently to avoid confusion. Real locos (at least the 185s/186s I worked on) are located via GPS and if their location does not match the selected system and safety system, you get a penalty brake application.
Do Austrian operating rules require the signal to be clear before despatch from a station? i ask this because the third Journey 5743 has you departing Bregenz at 0817. The signal is out of sight off the end of the platform and is held at red until approx 08.19:30 for other trains in the area. Certainly in the UK a train would never be despatched against a red signal and is a serious disciplinary offence. If the train cannot depart until 0820 the there is surely an issue with the timetable. And yes I did SPAD the signal on the first attempt as there is no platform repeater and you should not be despatched onto a red, like I say.
Timetable 53829 Klaus to Wolfurt - Part2 (Vectron) Spawn at foot on random trainstation and I can watch the AI do the task on the map PC
I'm driving at night and get an impression that the hanging lights above the platforms on many stations are not lit. That is, they cast the light onto platform, and whatever scenery alright. It's just that the lamp objects themselves, the luminaires, do not seem to be lit.
I've got some struggle with the cruise control on the Talent. Anyone have a tip how to best use it on PC/Xbox controller?
I would also like to revisit the point that the PZB cannot be read. The lamps are not visible even at 100% brightness. But the same applies to the other illuminated displays in the cab, such as "Doors, SIFA, ..."
enable it on the right sight of the cabin (master switch) then increase/decrease the speed on the right most screen
At the bottom of the right screen. Without zooming in it's quite hard to read. You activate this cruise control while you drive. And then it holds the speed at which you activated it. So it's not like AFB on most German trains. Then you can adjust with increments of 5 km/h up to 140 km/h.
Maik Goltz According to the ÖBB(/MÁV) 4023/provisional** 4024 manual: * The "Türen Geschlossen" indicator light should go out when v>3 km/h in ÖBB mode * In DB mode the "Tür Offen" indicator light lit up whether the doors are open or closed. Also in DB mode the "Türen Geschlossen" indicator light flashes when the door opening authorisation is withdrawn until all doors are closed. It then change to a steady light and remain illuminated. **the manual was written in 2003 for an older FLG software version than the 4024 launched with, one of the appendixes details the changes of that update, though
Having done a few services on this route now, in both the Vectron & Talent, it’s got to be up there with my favourite EU routes in TSW. In some places this route is as busy as BML, you can pull into stations here with one train departing as another pulls in behind it, then when you depart as the parallel service does, another train is behind that ready to stop. The best way I can describe this route, is that it’s everything Rapid Transit should have been. From the beauty spot that is Lindau, to the roadside running & build up urban sprawl all around you, to the mountain valleys, there is never a dull moment with the scenery. The service variation is great too, even with just the 2 service layers we have as default, there’s all sorts of combinations to get on with.
Really enjoying this route. Great choice - feels like a real journey to go from Lindau to Bludenz and there are several spots where the new distant scenery really takes your breath away in the right weather conditions. I will mention here that although it's a separate DLC, the Vectron is superb too. It's also suitably busy (although in real need of a Railjet) and I do think really should have gone the extra few hundred metres to St Margarethen on the branch. The only issues I've found so far are the too-dim PZB lights in the Talent 1, Lochau has no night lighting to speak of, and sometimes a Talent 1 REX that you're driving will arrive at Lindau but as soon as passengers are detrained will be taken over by the AI and zoom off in the opposite direction without much rhyme or reason. My hope is that we might see the Arlberg railway from Bludenz to Innsbruck recreated next - appreciate it's a very long and ambitious route though (110 miles although >10 of those are in tunnels, 20-something stations). Anyone else remember bombing down the hill from St Anton with the Golsdorf 380 in MSTS? Also, would DTG ever be able to get the licence for the Orient Express I wonder?
I wonder that myself. Does anyone actually drive and test anything on these routes?? Just rush it out and fix months later hopefully. Smh.
There is no need to change voltage within the country, just the Driver Assist is worded poorly and valid only for the single border crossing, while being triggered by voltage dropping to zero in any other neutral section as well. It also looks like Driver Assist cannot be turned off in TSW4, even in "expert accessibility" mode. Note that it is still driver's responsibility to follow signals, unless you have explicit written order to ignore them. Even if you were dispatched by dispatcher/station master, they still might have made an error. Until you can see the signal, you can only go 20 km/h (on sight, ready to stop before any obstacle), even if you cannot see the signal behind obstacle, you can see its trackside magnet, so you know where to expect it and you have to be prepared to stop in front of it. We do not have DRA, but PZB does support this - if you arrived to station after passing Expect Stop, PZB would drop you into restricted 500 Hz monitoring (in Germany) applying penalty brake over 25 km/h, or restricted 1000 Hz monitoring (in Austria) doing the same over 45 km/h. If you start at this station, you will be in 45 km/h monitoring as well, but you still start driving on sight, as you are not on a valid train path before you pass first signal (because you don't know if it will be showing shunting, 40, or still Stop as in this case).
I can't unlock Mastery progress for: Mountaineer - Complete 2 Timetables I play some freight and short depot timetable services but I don't achieved anything ?
Hey there, I have had the chance to be a passenger next to a driver before and I can confirm that the door unlock handle is like that on the real thing, you need to turn the handle side of it in the direction you want to open.
What I've noticed and saw others point out that the afb is not working as intended, on the real thing you can do two things, first is to quickly switch it on and off two times to set the speed limit to it's max and the second is setting the speed on the screen and enabling afb right away, it also should keep it turned on at all times no matter what. I hope this will be fixed later on. Also it would have been nice to see the magnetic track brakes drop to the tracks when emergency braking, but that's just a subtle thing.
Very much enjoying the route. I'm afraid my PS5 just crashed on the return leg on International Rescue scenario about 6.5 km out.
Not completable timetable drive Platform: Steam Specific Information (Loco, Services, Scenario Name and Times): S1 (25809) 12:21 from Lindau to Bludenz just before Bludenz I became a red Signal (ES), so I cannot drive in to the station. Dispatcher didn´t give me permission. On same trackwhere I should arrive stands another train, but theoretical my train can use the other part of the platform. By the way: I had ~2min delay
Clearly if this is your favourite route and haven't even figured out the train yet you have very low standards...
You can see several posts in this thread that it doesn't work as intended, so people are free to ask. Despite that I've driven several services and I like very much to learn the locomotives I couldn't figure out myself how it works or should work. So if you can tell me and other people asking here (without getting an answer) then be so kind and tell us exactly what we do wrong. Enabling the cruise control and setting the speed seems not to work, even as Mike from TSG mentioned that with rough movements of the throttle the cruise control is disabled, I tried that as well and it didn't work eiter. So when for examle driving 70, having speed control set to 80km/h and throttle at for example 30% it does nothing, at least for me. This is a feedback thread and current feedback is: Cruise control on Talent 1 does not work. If it works then DTG or you can tell us how.
Seems you did not understood it correctly. The cruise control works like a Tempomat. You manually reach your desired speed range. Then let the throttle where it is (not usually on full but something that would work in manual driving too), then switch on the cruise control. It will hold the actual driven speed. If you want to change the speed, use the two buttons on the screen. Don't move the throttle or other relevant driving controls or the cruise control immediately disengages. When you nee more or less power while the cruise control is on, use the throttle only in tiny steps. Moving it more than 10% (in the power range only of course) the cruise control will go off too. When you put the throttle to 0, then switching on the cruise control and then try to power up, it deactivates immediately again. So remember it works bit different to the usual AFB stuff.
I have no idea what you're talking about. I was criticizing their choice to have this as their favourite route without even finding everything out about it. It's just disingenuous.
Firstly they mentioned it’s their fav of the new routes, and considering it’s only been a few days, you can’t expect everyone to know everything. Secondly, liking something doesn’t mean you need/have complete knowledge of it. It’s always a constant learning process. You can have favorite and still be constantly gaining knowledge on it.
just checked to see if the extra layers were added to this route and founded the 628.2 DB from Niddertalbahn with the new Red DB Livery was no where to be seen whats going on with this launch its a major joke
Wonder if there will be more layers to this route? I have only Vectron, DB BR185 and Talent and that's all. It's kinda boring while having BR !82, BR101, BR143, etc.
You get the Stadler FLIRT and some short services if you have the Luzern-Sursee DLC. Feedback about that: as far as I could tell it shows the destinations from the DLC, so that's not really realistic. Also, activating ECTS 1 forced it to go only 40, but then again I never really dived into the workings of ECTS in the DLC, and maybe it doesn't work on this line? Or is that as expected?
That should actually be correct behavior. I didn't give it a try yet, but without any ETCS infrastructure on the route, ETCS should fall back into "On Sight" mode, limiting speed to 40 km/h.
Hi Maik. First off, I haven't driven this route yet, but I have a question about using the tempomat on the Talent 1: once activated can we change the target speed with the controller buttons like we can with AFB speed or does it only work with the buttons on the displayscreen in the train itself?
That should work, yes. Added these mappings in a late action but they are in. No reports on them not working.
Ah yes, that did cross my mind, and it makes sense since the drive from Bludenz to Lindau took 16 minutes, exactly as scheduled. Bit of a boring ride though :')
The RABE 523, is anyone else getting a weird issue with it on this route. I cannot get the reverser into forward, even though it’s physically in forward.
I can confirm that the keyboard shortcuts are working. Unfortunately, though, the tool tips (the captions appearing on the right edge of the screen whenever you move a control or switch) don't display the speed you set the cruise control to (unlike on other vehicles, e.g. the tempomat on the Talent 2), but something like "Cruise Control Speed Set Proxy". So you don't know what speed the cruise control is set to unless you strain your eyes and zoom in on the screen to read the "Vsoll" setting (printed light blue on light grey in font size 8 or something).
I played this route since pre-release. I haven't yet found one service, where you drive in double-traction. In reality, that is very common on this line. Edit: I found 1 service: S1 from Lindau at 6:19 am. I still believe, there could be a lot more of those, since in reality there are a lot more as well.
They are there, seen a couple go past me. Double headers in TSW usually follow the same service number, so once you find one, all the similar service numbers will likely be your double headers.
The 628.2 is for AI only, can't be driven by the player. Same with the 612. Both appear at Lindau if you own NID and DCZ. You can use them in free roam.
