Great Western Express although only being released in TSW1 It is outdated. Looking at the GWE addon with classes 08, 52 and 101 it is shown that a upgraded one can be done. What I would think would be good for it would be a GWR 801, Heathrow express 387 and maybe just maybe a steam engine for railtours like a castle class or maybe just a layer like the jubilees and Flying Scotsman. Speaking of layers the London overground could be put to use with maybe some 1972 stock going in and out of Paddington to Royal Oak and other stations, not as a driveable layer since they would basically go nowhere.

I will legend of the great western was a trash loco addon that didn't change the route. It was a loco addon that added preexisting locos and rollingstock to a route (that is set in 2015) that hasn't even tried to be backdated to the year its meant to be set in (71).

I don't think it's that bad. Dtg never advertised it as a separate route which would have required the entire route to be remade. It was a gameplay pack.

It would of been nice to have a Class 117 for commuter services out of paddington to atleast make it more realistic rather than the overused 101 as the only 1st gen DMU which is used for every BR Blue route

Personally I would rather see GWE redone in the early to mid 80's when HST's and loco hauled were still running together with the Class 117 DMU's. Frankly and purely IMHO the Azuma/Class 801 has not added to my enjoyment of the new ECML and populating a reworked GWE with similar units is just going to make for a boring experience.

The BR era also avoids licencing issues that I believe DTG have with GWR.

Class 117/121, 123 and 128 were all regular performers out of Paddington during 1971.

The route had vastly more variety during the 1970s and 80s. Over a dozen different types could be regularly found running in and out of Paddington. The stations and track layout were also more characterful than today. Any rework (which I highly doubt) absolutely must include the Thames Valley branches as well.

    Agreed.

Maybe 2018 though as it would be nice to re-utilise the HSTs and Turbostars in the mix of the IETs and Electrostars.

I would not want to see it only go to Reading, as although I love the GWML it's a very short journey on the HST with no intermediate stops.

I would like to see it extended to a minimum of Oxford via Didcot Parkway. Personally I like the idea of a full high speed run like a real scenario, although it would be a shame it only stops at Reading as an intermediate stop. It should be like the OG version in TSC. Even better would to see it instead be extended to Taunton, either via BTM or Pewsey. But that is me overreaching. However that puts the emphasis on driving the IET or HST, and I'd really like DTG to consider implementing ATP if going all the way to Bristol, or from Paddington to Reading only if it's via Pewsey.

And maybe try convince GWR to allow the use of FGW Blue. That's my favourite livery personally, and I'm glad we still have it for the 166 but it's a shame it has been lost for the HST.

I don’t think we need a newer (or older) version of GWE considering the amount of railways with untapped potential, it would be sort of counterproductive to remake a route that we’ve already seen when there’s so many lines (not just in the UK, but worldwide) that I think would be better to see than one we have just with a few new upgrades.

Same could be said for SEHS, but that was rebuilt and extended.

I wasn’t saying it is impossible or unlikely, just that I thought that it would be better to see another route.

I can tell you for 99,99% for sure there is no room to do something with this route... If they have a plan it must recreate from scratch.... Matt has already confirmed that this route is so old that the existing systems not match and its nearly impossible to bring any changes to this route.
