This is one of the more bizarre things I have seen so far. After leaving Chur the game RAM usage changes from barely 5 GB to 50 GB in just a couple of seconds, resulting in a system freeze and the need to kill process. Everytime you play the scenario or resume a savegame for that scenario the problem is reproduced at the same place, just after the depot in the city limits. It´s basically impossible that game can use such amount of RAM so this points to a memory leak of some kind. Is anybody else able to see this behaviour? I already have a medal for that scenario in my profile meaning that it worked well prior to TSW4. Cheers
I just tried it and got the same issue shortly past Chur Stadt. I actually had this same type of memory leak problem before in one other instance on TSW. It happened anytime I drove the DCZ dosto, and that dates back to TSW2. Here's a post that discusses that. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/experiencing-a-crash.51610/page-5#post-514529 Sound similar to your issue?
Even i have weird issue with Niddertalbahn. I have some 40fps below 8.9kmph and 4fps above 9kmph on Niddertalbahn after Höchst(Nidder) towards Stockheim.
I cannot confirm this. Maybe you need to revisit an Engine.ini change you made? DX12 Vanilla Engine.ini stable 7.2 / 7.4 GB RAM usage after leaving Chur. ("Arosa Southbound")
Issue confirmed on downhill path at another scenario. I don´t think it´s caused by engine.ini because no game can fill 50 GB RAM in just 2 seconds. That´s a huge amount of RAM and it´s by far more than what TSW4 will ever use. If you let TSW4 use RAM by using a 15 min garbage collector cycle for instance it fills just 10 GB on those 15 minutes. Here we are talking about 5 times more but in just 2 seconds, not in 15 minutes. And if there was a problem on engine.ini the issue would appear at all other routes as well. EDIT: reducing garbage collector to 300s seems to prevent the issue. For some reason that route requires a more frequent GC than others, despite both RAM and VRAM usage figures are lower than in the case of other routes with more details and they are still really far from those 50 GB Maybe it´s just because it´s using more detailed terrain elevation meshes. This behaviour is still a bit strange. That´s too much RAM anyway Cheers
geloxo Playing the "Alpine Photoshoot" scenario (had not seen the name's in the title before), and nothing unusual here. Constant 8 GB RAM usage...
Yes, thanks. I changed the GC setting to 300 at engine.ini an it seems to prevent the issue, despite with higher values the memory usage is still below 5 GB even after 15 minutes usage as in the case of rest of routes. This is one of those mysteries in this game I don´t intend to understand nor investigate any further . It works now and that´s it. Cheers
