Not sure if Steam has set the requirements for a DLC add-on incorrectly....Here's what happened to me when trying to purchase the Train Sim World 4 compatible "Thameslink BR class 700/0 EMU" add-on.

    1. I only own Train Sim World 4 - First time user. I purchased, via Steam, the pre-order deluxe version.
    2. Later in the week, I purchased, via Steam, the Train Sim World 4 compatible "Southeastern Highspeed" route add-on with no problems.
    3. Today, I attempted to purchase, via Steam, "Thameslink BR class 700/0 EMU" add-on and got the following message
      1. Purchase rejected - You need to own/purchase Train Sim World 3

Is this correct for DLC, via Steam, for Train Sim World 4 add-ons? Maybe for some add-ons and not others?
Has anybody else had this experience with Train Sim World 4 compatible DLC?

I couldn't find a means to communicate directly with Steam, so I'm posting this here.

What? That's rubbish, it doesn't matter that the train originally came out for TSW3, there isn't a requirement if you buy the correct version.

bobp#2439 are you on the correct DLC page? The first page below has TSW3 as a requirement.
TSW3 version: Train Sim World® 3: Thameslink BR Class 700/0 EMU Add-On on Steam (steampowered.com)
TSW4 version: Train Sim World® 4 Compatible: Thameslink BR Class 700/0 EMU Add-On on Steam (steampowered.com)

    Speedster thanks for your reply.

I actually tried to purchase it twice...the second time I verified that it stated a requirement of Train Sim World 4 and it still rejected the purchase. As far as I can tell, the Steam DLC store page only shows content that I should be able to purchase and use based on my previous Steam purchases.

On the Steam page, in their store, for "Train Sim World® 4 Compatible: Thameslink BR Class 700/0 EMU Add-On" it states:
"This content requires the base game Train Sim World® 4 on Steam in order to play."

However, in the add-on description ( "ABOUT THIS CONTENT", near the bottom) it states:
Please Note: For the full experience, we recommend you own Train Sim World 3: Southeastern Highspeed: London St Pancras - Ashford Intl & Faversham which is available as a separate purchase.]

So I guess this means that in order to add this DLC to TSW4 I would also need to purchase TSW3 base game and the TSW3 DLC...So my take away is that I will no longer be looking at non-route DLC items in the Steam store. No problems, I just thought it would be cool to add the BR 700 to my Southeastern Highspeed route.

Again, thanks for taking the time to reply.
    Bob

    Hi,
I would inform DTG about this matter.
I think this is an error on the steam store.
You should be able to purchase the Class 700 from steam by owning either the TSW3 or TSW4 SEHS editions of TSW.
    Mike.

That is super weird because I have bought no version of TSW4; I have only TSW3. Yet Steam store says "Train Sim World® 4 Compatible: Thameslink BR Class 700/0 EMU Add-On is already in your Steam library."

I have exactly the same issue. I opened an earlier thread about this and at the moment I have had no helpful response

Maybe you really do have to buy TSW3 in order to get older content into TSW4.

This is my first time using TSW4 and I really do enjoy the running/learning the trains, however I will not buy the previous version (TSW3) just to get some content from a previous version of Train Sim World.

At least I was able to purchase the Southeastern Highspeed route and that appears to be running just fine in TSW4. I've reduced my Steam wish-list to just 2 routes and will probably just look at what content is produced specifically for TSW4 and stay away from the older stuff.

That's too bad, because you'll be missing out on some excellent content from TSW3 and earlier.

It is a little confusing on the Steam site, but the entire TSW catalog is available to buy and will play in TSW4, albeit without all of the newest TSW4 features.**

The TSW4 Steam page needs correcting so that new players are made aware that there is some good, older, compatible content available for the game. Currently it doesn't point them in that direction, so they wouldn't be aware of it unless they accidentally wandered on to the TSW3 page.

Even if they did, they'd be met with the banner headline that TSW3 is no longer available, although all the compatible dlc are listed for sale. More confusion!!

** A couple of older American dlc have not been available on TSW2,3,4.

    Good morning everyone,

that does sound odd, I will have a talk with our Retail team and come back with the results.
Just to reiterate, you are not required to buy Train Sim World 3 to get any of the backwards compatible DLC for Train Sim World 4.

    All the best,
    Jan

    Hi dtg_jan,

Indeed, the problem has been fixed...I was able to purchase the BR Class 700 without any problems.

Many thanks to DTG and Valve for resolving this issue. So far I am really, really enjoying the simulator...lots of fun, lots of learning about trains.

    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Bob
