Train VVO BR 146.2 with 4 Dostos, tested on multiple tracks (Nahverkehr Dresden, Main Spessart Bahn, Hamburg - Lübeck):

The brake won't release totally, the brakes of the BR146.2 stuck in releasing at 1.0 (the cars definitly brake, too; even if there is no indicator; tested it like 15 times the whole evening now: sometimes the BR146.2 still got released brakes, but the cars not anymore).
Over time the brakes get stronger (also viewable on the indicator concerning the BR146.2 directly: 1.0 ... 1.1 ... 1.2 ... 1.3 ... you have to use the "brake overcharge"-button ... only way to release them (or hold the "brake release" button forever). Also I used the drone-cam to release the cars brakes with the red button on their sides ... during driving ... not very realistic - but sadly necessary.

It seems loading a save game and/or the AFB (more exact: the automatic standing brake - which releases automatically if the BR146.2 creates torque) causes this glitches. Also it happens very often (but I guess not only), if you turn off the AFB again and the brakes should release, due to automatic standig brake is deactive again.
This don't happen correctly and with time the brakes load and load. You can drive (also with AFB), but you lose like 10 - 30 km/h, due to the brakes. Two or three times it was very hard to start again ... time schedule?: impossible with this handicap.

Isn't the BR 146.2 a very old loco? And it is still not fixed?!

    Btw (2nd issue):
My TSW 3 [game ] crashed AGAIN in Dresden ("Nahverkehr Dresden") while testing the BR 146.2 brake gltich (close to Dresden Hbf).
I am angry now [that's why you read these direct words ... without any time to use an german - english translator and polish the grammar]; ... because I wasted so much time in testing now, which is more work than relaxing for me. Work that others should do, not me. I should / tried to enjoy the late evening between two 10-12 hours working days with TSW3 - but ended as beta tester again. ><

Hope you use this information to fix both bugs asap. (And: No I don't realy care if it is some supplier of DTG with not enaugh (skilled) people or something like that. That's 100% not my problem.)
    => Make it work ( ... that's also my slogan.) :(

Release does not mean release; it means overcharge. Running is release. Are you unable to apply any power and get moving?

This doesn’t sound like a bug to me. It sounds like you’re using the “release” notch of the brakes (and/or the overcharge button). Stay far away from both and your issues should disappear. I certainly never had trouble with the 146.

Hi just noticed your post ironic I had brakes that didn’t work other day on the 395 javelin and needles didn’t even move forcing me to use emergency brakes at every stop

The Javelin's power handle can be moved with the mouse, but the train won't realise it has been moved until you next move it with a keyboard. Could this be the issue that you are facing?

It looks like, the bug I mentioned is this one - or at least:
    [source: reddit.com]
    https://www.reddit.com/r/trainsimworld/comments/11ug1e6/db_br146_afb_brake_charge_issue/
+> I only would add/correct: It is not the LZB-System, it is triggered by the AFB-System (even if LZB is deactive and not present).
+> The pressure sticks around 1.4 - after releasing all brakes (including the automatical LZB brake) (!); sometimes it is even 3.0 after a stop with full brakes (not emergency brake) (the automatical LZB brake unlocks with torque, yes, but only a few 0.X bar); "overcharged brake" can put it down more -> but to a glitched 1.4 - 1.6, not to a normal 0.0 (... 0.0 seems not possible anymore after switching AFB on while standing).

It seems an walkorund can be to activate the AFB only while moving ... only tested very short yet and don't have time for longer tests anyway. Hope for a fix.

Update: Just tried to drive the BR146.2 now again.
And again the brakes are bugged; even without using the AFB now.

    1. Loaded the game. (Loco was turned off before saving (Circuit, Brakes - including closing the "train driver's brake valve" [or however this white button near the main battery button is called).
    2. Battery on, Panthograph and everything else; including opening the valve ... then I tried to release tha brake ... 4.4 ... 4.4 ... 4.4 ... nothing. "brake overcharged" but it down to 1,3 ~ 1.4.
    3. Loaded the same save again: But this time I didn't opened the valve. Now the brakes work ... with a closed valve?! I opened and closed it a few times ... now both settings don't work again ... air will stick in the cylincer >< I guess I skip the BR146.2. now ... this is not for my patience ... until it will be fixed.

[I guess it is not only one big bug ... the brake system seems kinda ... unstable: - Similar effects also appeared without loading a save game, mostly while using the AFB. :( ]

The "Release" and overcharge work very well in tsw, but you have to understand the brake system of trains.

Doing the overcharging when coupling is safety relevant "angleichen", no matter what country.
Most players fault is they make a brakeapplication (lower the brake pressure on the hll / brake pipe) with an overcharged pipe of 5.3 bar or 74psi, and need more and more pressure to get back to its usual 5 bar / 72.5 psi regular pressure.

If you overcharge, wait until pressure goes back to 5 bar / 72.5 psi. After that you are fine to use the brakes.

(Can take 2-3 minutes, so dont overcharge higher than 0.3- 0.5 bar)

For faults with afb, ckeck nbü selector.
Enable afb, move the lever forward after "releasing" the brakes. When hll shows 5 bar / brake cylinder 0 bar turn off the afb and move back the lever.

Same for the 187, works well and with the sound mod this loco is actually fun.

NBÜ (Emergency Brake Override) is not simulated afaik, as it is only used if a passenger pulls the emergency, for avoiding the train coming to a halt inside a tunnel for example.

No issues with the 146 here (PC although)

In TSW 4 I tested the DABpbzfa 766.0 with the BR146 in the Training Center. If I change from the BR146 to thr DABpbzfa 766.0 or vice versa, there is just a little chance, that the brakes would work probably. There is always air left in the brake pipes (1.8, 1.2 one time even 3.0). The only way to remove this is by pressing the valve buttons outside the dostos or the DABpbzfa 766.0. "Brake overcharged" or changing the setting (in the loco) from R to P or G helps only a bit. Of course, these ar walk arounds.

It seems it is not only the AFB; it seems as if the simulation is programmed to be very unstable, especially if we talk over the German things. e. g. The 363 has rotating tires if the brakes cylinders have more than 2.0 or 3.0 inside. But this is not so game breaking like the just mentioned brake issue.

    Hope for a fix in a little while ... ... ... :/

I realy hate to be a BETA TESTER, but - here a list how to easily trigger that annoying Baureihe 146 / DABpbzfa 766.0 Bug

    1. Start Training Center (on foot).
    2. Turn to your right and go to the BR 146 with 4 Dostos cars (last one is DABpbzfa 766.0 of course); enter the BR 146.
    3. Put the reverser in and turn it on "forward" [so you can drive forward]
    4. Release the train brakes [so you can drive forward]
    5. Drive the train [BR 146 with cars] forward until the track ends (you will reach the siding without a parked train on it); stop your train with train brakes (never used more than brake power level "2" - first it will use dynamic brakes, then air brakes [train]).
    6. After the train stopped on the siding, put the reverser on off.
    7. Leave the BR 146 and go to the DABpbzfa 766.0; (I don't know if it is improtant, but I manually open one door to enter the DABpbzfa 766.0).
    8. Put the reverser into the DABpbzfa 766.0 control panel; turn it on "forward".
    9. Close the doors (you can only close the doors after putting in the reverser).
    10. Turn the brake key to "ON", now the brake cylinder will fill with like 2.5 and there is NO WAY to release the bakes; "Brake overcharged" gives you like -1.1; put the whole brakes only on "P" might help. Also you can push the red buttons outside each car to get the air out of the cylinders; ... it seems, that you have to repeat it again and again.)

Do it, trigger it. Then say me it is not a bug; and I don't have to be that angry. >:/
Guess it is not LZB or AFB. It is triggered very easy; check above î

(XSX, digital bought (pre ordered) TSW 4; bug was obviously also present in TSW 3) :( :( :(

    UPDATE:
    Two more things:
    A) If you switch back to the BR 146, there is still no proper way to release the brakes ("overcharged brakes" [the button near the manuall bar indicator] helps sometimes; and/or turn the system on "G" or "P")
    B) In the DAB you keep hearing the noise of floating air (releasing brakres), as long as the brake key is on "ON".

The only way to release the brakes in the BR 146 now is: you hold the switch "release brakes" on the panel: hold = hold it all the time. If you stop using it, the brakes fill immediately again :( :( :(

    UPDATE #2:
2nd try, now I opened the doors in the BR 146 (not manually) - but it had no real effect. Brake in the DAB stucked at 1,0 this time. It seems kinda random.
I am tired of this, no more tries for me. I am not a tester, I payed for a finished product. Fix it asap. :( :( :(

Have you put the brakes into release of the loco when you switched cabs. Putting reverser into off isn't enough.

Also don't overcharge the brakes. Release is not release; it's overcharge and you'll just wait longer.

Just did a short test on the test track, and I think that you are right.
I have no more time right now but will try it again on monday to see
if I could get it going again after swithing cabs.

Yes, brakes in the BR 146 were released after stopping.

UPDATE: With the - I think it is the BR 143 (the short train in the Training Center in TSW 4) - there are no problems. It seems to be always the BR 146; sadly - the BR 146 is a nice and popular machine.

I have tried the BR 146 on the training centre, and there is definitely something strange with the brakes.
It´s quite easy to reproduce for anyone who wants to give it a try. Just start on foot at the Training Centre and walk over to the BR 146 with the Dostos:
    • Sit in seat
    • Insert reverser
    • Put reverser to neutral
    • Put reverser back to off
    • Watch the brake pipe needle rise to way above 5 bar
    [IMG]
I don´t think there is any chance of brakes working normally after that.

This seems similar to the issue I noticed - or it is exactly that one. Strangely I can't reproduce the glitch not the short way you mentioned in my version (TSW 4, XBox Series X, digital version) yet*. I have to activate the DABpbzfa 766.0 first to "ruin" the brakes.
(Then the train would be unable to drive; not with the B 146 and not with the DAB, exept without train brakes :( )

However, after a few tries with your mentioned way the pressure rised about 0.5 in the BR 146; could be removed with the "brake overcharged" button.

*UPDATE: Wait, the longer I wait with the reverser in OFF, the higher rises the pressure after I change it into NEUTRAL or FORWARD again! While I was writing this lines, the pressure rised now up to 2.4 (after moving the reverser to NEUTRAL).

So - you are right! I guess this has to be a part of that issue: Driving the DAB means also, the reverser in the BR 146 is OFF.
Could be the linkage. (Reverser on NEUTRAL, now 3.0; brake lever on "drive" - "release" don't work.)

    Only walk around is:
    - in the DAB: let the brake keys on OFF
    - in the BR 146: wait with the reverser in OFF until brakes are on 0.0, deactivate the brake valve (white button behind you), then move the reverser to NEUTRAL or FORWARD.
==> Both ways are kinda kamikaze like, because you won't have train brakes, only dynamic and local ones. (Emergency brakes work.) So, no word to your passengers ><

    Or ... ... ...
DTG, would you fix this please ?! :(

I'm on PC (Steam) but i think the problem is the same regardless of platform.

It´s easier to see what´s happening if you set the trainbrake to running before setting the reverser to off again.
    • Sit in seat
    • Insert reverser
    • Set reverser to neutral
    • Set trainbrake to running
      • The brakepipe will rise to 5 bar and the brakecylinder will go down to 0
    • Set reverser back to off
    • Watch the brakepipe needle rise above 5 bar and slowly keep rising
    • At 6 bar, set reverser to neutral again
      • The brakepipe will drop to 5 bar and the excess air will go into the brakecylinder
    • Set reverser back to off again
      • The air in the brakecylinder will "go back" into the brakepipe, which will keep rising
    • Keep moving the reverser between off and neutral to see air flowing between the two guages
If I disconnect the dostos and have just the BR 146 the brakes seem to work fine, so it might be that the dostos are causing it. I leave that to the professionals to sort out.

100% reproduced. But I think it has to do something with the BR 146, the BR 143 seems to be not effected by that bug. I am also not sure, if this hits only the VVO/Dresden Trains (?).

I hope the professionals will now take action. We've already done enough - without getting paid ;)

First time using 146 on Kinzigtal Ferry scenario then the 146 brakes finally go berserk. Does DTG both not test AND not really care ? Think how many years 146 has had bugs not found in other DB lok in TSW ... use PZB and AFB in the lok and PZB in the driving car. I defy anyone to do this scenario to completion without cheating or using "work-arounds" ... on PS5. I refuse to buy for PC even in Epic Games silly sale pricing with the bugs i still have on PS5. I have an almost complete TSW on PS5 ( minus 2 steam lok add-ons and silly aggregates for Arosa and silly xmas California ... to waste time on that when so many graphical errors exist on old routes and logic issues in old locos ... it is infuriating. And to charge $$ to decorate a train for xmas ! Just nuts.
