I'm loving the ICE 3 now I've mastered pzb and lzb. I hadn't driven the loco for a while as kept getting emergency brakes. Matt doing the charity streams at the weekend made me look at the ICE 3 again. I watched Matt's tutorial on YouTube and things fell in place this time around. Been on the Hauptstrecke Munchen to Augsburg today and still on it now. Done a few timetable services and scenarios and no emergency brakes. It's a good feeling
LZB is disabled around most major stations. The exceptions are stations built on top of the SFS like Kassel-Willemshohe and Fulda.
It is a rewarding feeling, using PZB and LZB. I enjoy it a lot. I have played hundreds of hours with safety systems on but there is always something new that comes along from time to time. If you want to take a deep dive on PZB, LZB, and also other safety systems, I can highly recommend the Tygerways channel on Youtube. I think the creator is also a member in this forum. https://www.youtube.com/@tygerways6615
Just out of curiosity, do you know why LZB is not in major stations? Is it a cost-saving measure because trains don't go at 160+ km/h anyway or is there another reason?
Probably because it's way too complicated with all the switches and sidings and many, many signals. Some LZB-enabled main lines don't even bother with LZB in single station sidings, meaning you'll be entering and exiting LZB many times during the trip.
Short answer is that the stations were built and designed before LZB existed. But there really isn’t any advantage to LZB at low speeds. To the contrary, the target speeds will be constantly changing as you move over switches.
