Also hope to see it all lit up in colours at night. That would be an amazing touch.

I hope some sounds of seagulls around the Blackpool area would be nice and also the faint sound of roller-coasters in the back ground to give it that ambiance.

Also in a previous thread I hope the flag is moving on top of the Blackpool Tower and not static

Spotted this on the dev update. I see the 47 has its headlight! And the coaches are looking far better with the shading improved

That's good to see, actually you could say I were beaming about that being added to the 47.

I'm not quite sure the TSW physics engine has a sub-section for simulating rollercoasters, particularly on cornering and having two sets of wheels that hold it in to the rails.

They were initially planning on doing a little park railway on Dresden-Riesa, leftovers are still in the game files. So maybe it could actually happen some day ;)

Lights would be good, plenty of other games simulate roller coasters though.

Would be great if it has. It dates the loco pre mid 80s if no headlight fitted.

If you zoom in to the front of the Duff in the picture I quoted it confirms it has been added so it will have that minor, but important, detail for the era.

Some details which I can remember, but can't remeber when they disappered, but I remember there used to be some telegraph poles between Kirkham and Poulton. Also another detail I remember, although it also changed was the ICI chemical plant behind the Cala Gran Caravan site, near Fleetwood. I used to feel scared of that place when we holidayed there.

The other thing was the signal near the start of the OHEL always being on red. I don't know if it was just the train I was on. But always seemed forever to change.

    - I can confirm we have the decommissioned telegraph poles along the banks around Weeton. I only had limited photographs on this so i may not have covered everywhere they appeared, but i have a good amount in place from what i found online.

    - ICI Chemical Works is in place on this route too, as is the neighboring Cala Gran.

    - The signal however i know which you mean, operates as per the simulated timetable, you may be held, you may not. But i agree irl you would be held there for what would feel forever!

Hope this helps with your queries!

    Regards, Thomas

    Thanks for your answers,

I don't think I have been so excited about a DLC this much. You can see how much passion you've been putting into this route and I for one am very greatfull for your hard work.

I think Blackpool tower looks a little flat maybe. The other shots look great.

I notice in some of the pictures there is jointed track.
I just wondered has there been any opportunity to improve the track joint sound as irl it’s loud but in game in other routes, some units are better than others, but generally track joints and passing over points is a quiet affair and doesn’t convey the heavy machine being driven over these gaps.
    Thanks

I noticed that. The pylons look odd on most routes.

Jointed track is something that is for some reason missing on so many UK routes now and I don't understand why, pretty much any route onwards from the TSW2020 ones seems to only have such things on points. I definitely agree with the sound quality though, especially given the reputation the Pacers have. We need loud track joints and we need wheel flanges that scream at you when you go around a bend.

I had a great mod installed on TSW2/3 which made jointed track sound loud on the Class 101, was great taking a trip on that on the NTP route - I've not tried it on TSW4 as I suspect, like all the other mods from TSW3, it won't work on TSW4 without requiring an update. So glad I kept TSW3 installed

Funnily enough I think the English Electric locos (20, 37, 40) got the joint sound pretty good. It's heavy and loud, not overly so but it's definitely noticable. I'd say the same for the 31 as well, and maybe the NTP 47 depending on where you're driving it. Other locos though, and especially coaches and multiple units, seem to have their joint sounds quiet or dulled. It almost makes them seem lightweight, when in reality these vehicles are supposed to weigh many tons, in many cases well over 100.

The only reason TSW4 is still on my pc, is because of the release of this route.
By the way the mania about the Class 47 having a headlight, is misplaced.
There were still dozens and dozens of loco's from different classes. Still yet to be fitted with same, during this period.

This is wildly off-topic, but what locos did you work on in your BR days as a mechanical fitter? (I won't pretend to know what a mechanical fitter is versus a mechanic as I have no idea, would be interesting to know though)

Do we know if the Pacer will make use of the new suspension physics? Because right now they are still WIP I believe, so if the route releases before the upgrade, does JT plans to retrofit them to the 142?

Class 42-43 (Warships), Class 52 (Westerns), Class 35 (Hymek), Class 47 (Brush Type 4), Class 31 (Brush Type 2) Class 50. Anything that needed R&M attention visiting the WR. Plus Class 101 dmu, Class 117, Class 119, Class 120, Class 123.
Mechanical Fitter is a less pretentious name for a mechanical engineer. When you you joined BR as an apprentice, at one of the regional Apprentice Training Schools, mine was Swindon. There were two types of trainees, mechanical engineering apprentices and electrical engineering apprentices. Those designations only applied to the boys who joined from around the region, Cardiff, Bristol, Penzance etc etc. The boys at the training school who would be employed at Swindon Works, had a more diverse set of trades to work towards as apprentices. After i got fed up of years and years of being covered in oil, grease and human excrement (all coaching stock including dmu's) flushed the toilets onto the track bed. So the undersides of the stock, were very unpleasent. After i had enough of that, I took my PSV Class 1 licence and drove deckers for a living instead, much more pleasent.

I think I remember Matt on a stream saying something about the 142 being built with them in mind so I would assume it will have them, be it at launch or in a later patch.

This meaning Pylons and Telegraph poles combined just to give a refreshment of what i feel has been over exhausted on all previous routes.

As much as i would love to tell you. Sadly im not able to on here, all i will say is we are still on track on our planned date currently :)
When we announced it was in the 1-3 months window on the Roadmap, That now is the 0-3 but nothing for us has changed or been pushed back.

We are working to ensure the suspension is right in the way it works. If you look at the Training Centre Class 323 you will notice the suspension is already in there. I don't know how fine tuned it is but the feature is already available.

    Cheers, Thomas

47s did have them , 31s 37s etc didn't until early 90s. 45/1s got them but 45/0s didn't. 26s in Scotland got them in the last year 1992 to 1993.

With the recent console layer issues for 8th gen and series S etc is the timetable still performing well on console? :)

We do our stress testing on an Xbox One which is the lowest powered machine the game runs on.
So far we have not seen anything to cause concern here. We have not been told we need to make a reduced timetable.
Hopefully we will not need to :)

By '86 most 47s did have the headlights so it's nice this has been recognised. It is the small things like this and the pylons which by themselves are nowt to shout about but all together really are making this release much better.

And that would be correct as there is no way every single 47 had headlights fitted, what the 'mania' is about is that this very minor difference in the year NTP is set to BPO is set has been recognised, from there being very few with headlights in '82/3 (can't remember which) to the vast majority with them in '86 is a very nice detail.

Any way I am sure if I wasn't feeling as tired I would be able to make some metaphor to compare the headlights to this discussion but frankly I just don't have the mental capacity this evening so if someone thinks of one please do jump in!

By putting lights on it also increases its usability. How many railtour layers have traction with no lights? It's good to see some attention to detail.

I found the recording of a 142 with original powertrain, I just hope the 142 in this DLC sounds as good.

That video sounds good. It is great to have something like that recorded so you can actually hear how they sounded. It would be nice if the 101 could get some better sounds.

It's like the cab door window, at one time you could look through it. Then they covered it up. To me, it's the little things that do make the model better. Although I don't mind if there are slight differences,

I think it should have been a 104 instead of a 101. I have been told before that a 104 would simply sound the same as a 101 as the engines are identical so they would bring nothing new to TSW (or TSC). Though that is correct that they both typically carry two Leyland O680s per powered vehicle, the sound is noticeably different. That or 50455 and 50517 have some serious leaks on all 4 exhausts, maybe the owner (Mr Dowd) drilled a few hidden holes in the silencers. A 104 would go well with this route too as they ran up to Blackpool looking at some photos on Railcar.

I have heard that quite often, but nothing can beat a raspy 104. I have many memories of thr 104s going to Blackpool. Normally when I went as a kid it would be one. Best thing was when the train was leaving BPN and the smoke would cover the station buildings. Another unit what I used to love, the 105s. You knew that it was one of them, as the shape of the seats, and the fact you couldn't hear much as they would be making a racket from the engine and body. The Class 108s used to be quite placid compared to the 104s and 105s.

The good thing is there are at least 3 104s running (Such as the one in the video.) ELR also have a 105 too. Hopefully somebody will get some sounds. I am sure they would sell well as a loco pack.

Superb clip, but just to point out most of the Class 101 DMUs as originally built were fitted with AEC engines which sounded more whiny than the BUT/Leyland type fitted to the 104’s, 108’s etc. Later on some of the 101’s were retrofitted with the Leyland engines in the latter days or when refurbished.

I suggested the 104 on the suggestions page, it's a natural fit for so many TSW routes but unfortunately because they finished on the mainline in 1990s and have no PIS and more than one handle it may never happend. Someone already asked why on my suggestions thread which shows most would dance for joy at a 156 or something similar.

Especially as there are preserved examples about, so no excuses about sound. I'm sure the ELR and the Diesel Group would be more than happy to help in return for a contribution to their coffers.

I think it would sell over time. The problem is the accounts dept probably need instant return. ELR is one set, also Llangollen and North Norfolk I think have one.
