Capitol Limited Eastbound, Part 2 Resumed my save with out issue- nice! The downhill run is a little trickier. Almost got in trouble with the PSR after the first 79mph section south of Hyndman lol. Made it to Cumberland at 0952.... 32 min late but i'm calling 20 min of that setup time.
I have noticed when running on the great Free Roam mode, the AP (Action Points?) are counting too, providing some numbers of your run. But are they finally added to your account? As at the end indicates "Objetive Complete", but does not show it also including them.
No, the AP are not added to your score. I asked Matt about it during his stream.andnits something they need to look at. Hentis
California Zephyr Westbound (detoured over Sherman Hill) The Zephyr is being diverted due to debris on the tracks of the normal D&RGW route. Approaching Borie Jct around 13:15, I had to wait about half an hour for a slot on the UPRR mainline. Westbound autoracks, an eastbound manifest, and a westbound grain train all passed before i got the ok to proceed. It was a slow climb to the summit following the grain train- yellows the whole way and even rolled through a red with gradient plate in a shorter signal block (oops), but kept my distance from the slow freight. Miraculously, the dispatcher took pity on me and routed me onto the single track and the highball for the downhill run. Honestly this was kind of a pain to set up (spawned on foot at the Cheyenne Chemical plant and then about 4 miles west to Borie Jct), but bombing down the hill at 65mph was worth the wait. Finally, got to stop in Laramie at 15:13 for a much needed crew change. More spawn points, please, DTG. Also it's a shame all of track 3 couldn't be finished.
Decided to do a top and tail Railtour with an 8F, mark 1 carriages and class 20 from Leicester to Brush works. Decided to add stuff to it.
As opposed to? I've seen one repaint for the F40PH, but i didn't like it as much, and i just prefer driving the F125.
Well, the F40PH. Not criticising people for using Free Roam as it's intended but if you're going for authenticity one's been used by Amtrak for long distance services and one hasn't.
I’ve tried hauling the amfleets with freight engines (F7, AC4400CW, etc.) and it won’t move- feels like the passenger cars all have brakes on. I assume this is authentic, but can someone who is familiar with American trains please tell me why it doesn’t work?
Freight cars and Passenger cars have different brake pressure settings. This is why some locos have a cut in switch for freight and passenger.
Unfortunately not - I love free roam, and it's perhaps one of the biggest game-changers for TSW in a long time, but it really does need passenger loading/unloading. The only best thing for now is spawning a train which has the option of having passengers, although not every train has that option, again which is frustrating.
It's difficult to hit the spot. Try looking down while standing in the gangway between the two coaches.
Everyone that not familiar with US locomotives that the to set brake valve to freight if running freight or to passenger for a passenger train ..Im not familar with the UK diesels had some problems getting those to work until i got into train sim world i first did US content but got to like the UK Germany stuff my favoite UK engines are the class 37 47 and the chopper class 20
I have found some decent re paints for the 40ph and the F40ph 3C i had to dig and dig way back tgh a lot of pages in creators club but found some got VIA rail GO transit for oakville sub was CSX schemes for their executive F40s Amtrak ph 1 2 and 3 the most i got were for the F40ph3C from boston providence dlc
I have been seeing some excellent ideas that others have done in free roam ..I thought a few more im going to try will do a Amtrak acs64 freight will be awkward but fun saw that it has a passenger or freight valve.will do that on NEC and Boston Providence..Also plan on trying F125 run it on a doulble stack train or manifest freight.. Did try to spawn a ACS64 on east coast main line kinda liked that idea want to run a Amtrak passenger train on that and some of the other electrified UK routes
I’ve got it working now, thanks to Blacknred81 ’s help, although the F7 seems to sit at 90psi in both freight and passenger settings, so no luck with that one. It’s great fun though, the lighter trains and higher speed limits really make for a whole new experience on those otherwise freight-only routes.
I really had my fun using the Vectron in Free Roam (Timetable) hauling the various coaches parked on "Mainz - Koblenz" route back and forth for a couple of hours.
Now that CC liveries work correctly I took a BR blue liveried HST (made my ebarbs#6076) on a full run of the NTP with a stop at Huddersfield, nice run with good weather until I arrived at Huddersfield where it started chucking it down. It's nice to be able to take the HST out of a route where it's only doing high speed runs. Thanks to Scorpion71 for the idea.
I did something similar yesterday, same livery. I had it run into one of the bay platforms at Leeds and then run ECS to Miles Platting. It was brilliant. Also, something happened that I really liked, I drove from Manchester to Huddersfield which was the objective point. When the Huddersfield-Leeds stopper left at 10.53, I then put the objective for Leeds and expected to be behind the 101 the whole way. The game put me on the fast lines past Mirfield and overtake the 101 which was a fantastic touch
Nice, for me it was a pretty quiet run to Leeds most the traffic I saw was Manchester bound or parked up. I did it around the same time but I think I got lucky and departed Huddersfield just before the stopping service.
The sidings around Leeds were empty.....so I filled them with Locos and DMUs, a cacophony of noise lol
Was all excited to run a train from the Metrolink yard in LA to the station to begin a run, as that's how the trains in the afternoon operate, and can't believe that's not even included as a spawn point? Literally one of the main, major points of interest on the whole route and DTG failed to even make it possible to spawn there? And walking from Glendale or LA seems like it would be easy but it's anything but. Disappointing... again.
I have used the Metrolink EMD F125 on free roam mode, at night. But I have noticed, the passenger cars, does not have the lights on! So it is not realistic. I searched for a control for it - on both the locomotive and cab car - but I could not find it! Any help will be appreciated. Regards
Other issue I noticed ... I wanted to drive a BNSF locomotive there too on free roam mode., but the screens of the locomotive were completely off! That never happened when you drive a timetable. Furthermore i noticed a similar issue with the UP SD70ACE Thanks in advance.
this happens also to the BR 442 Talent in the Scenario Planner (it doesn’t work at all in free roam on non-German catenary).
I seem to have developed a new obsession - rounding up the strays. Started off with a pair of 37s at Manchester Victoria with a vague idea of dropping off their wagons at Red Bank then using them to run a passenger op to Leeds. Got to Red Bank and thought I might as well take the stabled locos to Newton Heath instead... got to Newtown Heath, rounded up a couple more stabled locos and dragged them all to Holbeck, picking up another 47 in Huddersfield on the way Thinking I might let the WSR 47 loose on SoS again soon - see how many kettles I can drag to Crewe
You could technically do this, yes. But why should we have to? It seems silly to leave a major yard out as a spawn point. That was my point... The HEP is not turned on in the locomotive. It's on the back panel for the HEP controls. By default in free roam when you spawn an F125 consist, it is turned off.
With the UP SD70ACE, at least, there's a workaround by turning the "computer display" breaker off and back on again. Then hit the right-most softkey on the display, then the left-most softkey on the display to turn up the brightness as desired. Haven't tried on the BNSF version yet.
Can confirm this about the HEP. Also, DTG, more on-foot spawn points, please? Would be great to see an acknowledgement that they've received the feedback. Free roam is so good but a few tweaks would make it truly excellent!
Class 31 with loaded limestone hoppers on ECML, Part 1 This slow local freight is being diverted via ECML due to track work on the secondary line. Only able to get up to about 50mph with full throttle, but maybe not the worst considering a lot of TPWS action- dispatcher has me on the fast lines at the moment but had to take an IRL dinner break lol
I am enjoying this free roam. I literally spent several hours the most time I've ever spent on tsw in one session. This makes great freight activities where I have placed consists all over the route to go back and forth moving freight for hours. you can even access areas that could never be accessed before. One question I have is how can you save a session and store it for future use? Or is there a mod or something for this? Also is there a way to spawn at parts of a route instead of having to drive a train around placing consists? So far at Peak forest I start at Buxton Midland. There is a 3 car 101 sitting at the platform, adjacent is a class 31 and 40 already coupled for me to use. A little further down the line there is a siding across a bridge with 18 limestone hoppers from a broken down train. The lead engine has already been removed but the helper is still coupled to the back. I pull up my train just short of the consist, jump out and walk to the back to uncouple the helper. make my way back to my train, not forgetting to set the brakes to vac freight on both loco's before coupling to the hoppers. I then make my way to Ambergate and drop my hoppers in the sidings. There's part of a consist formed in the adjacent sidings that has a 4F coupled to it but there is a class 08 there for me to use to move the 4F into another siding. After a little messing about I'm coupled to the consist and ready to depart to Chinley. With various wagons at almost every siding along the way, I stop and collect these as I move towards Chinley, either using my train or shunter (If I've placed one) As I make my way up the grade getting heavier along the way, my class 31/40 really start to struggle but they manage. I drop my long consist at Chinley and make my way to Gowhole sidings where things are a mess. With mixed consists all over the place I use a class 09 to make up my train. A couple of hours later! my consist is ready to couple to and depart for Buxton Midland sidings. Once there I park my consist, uncouple and make my way light to Tunstead Quarry where there's another mess for me to sort out. There's several Limestone hoppers parked at the top of a very steep grade a little further up the line that I need to get back down to the Quarry sidings to make up my next consist. I'm not quite sure what yet or where it's going but I'm certainly having fun. I started at 5am but its early evening at this point.
A HST set leaving Standedge Tunnel on the 05.24 Carlisle-Leeds service in 1982. This service would call at Preston, Blackburn, Manchester Victoria, Stalybridge, Huddersfield, and Leeds. After arrival at Leeds this set would run empty to Red Bank before forming an afternoon Manchester-Glasgow Central service.
I decided to run on free roam the ECML, a freight train, but using the BR 193 Vectron. My first idea was to use just the locomotive, but with the UK container cars. But I have an issue with the brakes. Could not move it. I believe it was caused due to be different systems. Ok, then I do it with the german container cars too. I started without problem, and I really enjoy the drive, due to lot of traffic around, and some yellow and red lights ahead!. But... surprisingly after being driving so many miles, and even already run more than the half part of the route,... when the train passed what is seems to be something like a small power station... I lost power, and suddenly a message appeared, indicating something like "select the country and close the circuit braker". Which I did it! But as to country point of view, the route is all in the UK! I could not accelerate the train any more, as to throttle selector appeared with the red square!. As I had saved the game before, I upload it again, but I "suffer" the same bad situation, So unfortunately I could not finish, this really nice run! Then, I kindly ask you to someone could help about how to solve this issue! Or it is a problem with the game Any help be appreciated.
I always wanted to see a french regional route that could feature the AGC or the corail, like on Strasbour-Mulhouse (via Colmar), 60 miles and the trains are alowed to run at high speed (100 for AGCs, 125 for corails and 137 for TGVs), it's all straight and flat but for those who like lines mixing regional, freight and express trains on "high-speed" tracks, this is for you.
Free Roam doesn't seem to like the 484 on my PS5, It either won't load it or it won't let me click "spawn"
