Hmmmm? TSW2 No hinted at update. TSW3 No hinted at update Who's really surprised about this? TSW3 welcome to the most likely no update club. O and as for TSW4 don't get to high and mighty you'll most likely be joining this club in about a year yourself.
I'm not, but it's worth reminding people that all the talk of "increased transparency" is turning out to be lies.
I don't think anyone is suprised about it. It was obvious from the start that the surprising scenario would be if the update actually released. I still have some hope that it might release at some point, but it's definitely not something I count on. Lying and not keeping promises seems to be part of the corporate culture at DTG.
Considering any updates that are positive in effect will include a equal amount of negative effects. Will anyone be better off either way.
They can't update TSW3, till they fix the problems with NYT that are currently present. Since the NYT timetable is the major point of the patch.
Do I want an update anymore? Hmmm, not so sure, really. If you look at the track record of DTG´s amateurish "patches", I´d tell them "get lost" and don´t come near my TSW instalation. They break more than they fix. One step forward, two steps backwards - the famous DTG tap dance.
So I will just expect the backwards running freight train at Riesa Dresden, the 90 degree distorted Class 66 camera, and the lack of in cab signalling on UP routes to be here to stay.
If you switch the 66 to the first external camera (which should be parallel to the cab, i.e. looking to the front), it is faced away from the loco at a 90 degree angle. So if the loco faces North, you are looking West or East..
And sadly even with the updated timetable the route does not seem worth getting. Big shame, because I was quite excited about this route when they first released it. Then it released full of issues and with a horrible timetable, but I said "alright, will get it once a better timetable and some fixes drop". The timetable seems pretty good from what I could see so far, but the route still seems to be filled with bugs. So looks like that's 36 euros saved, lol...
Perhaps you are correct in that this is their line of thinking, but it doesn't make much sense to me that it would be ok to release NYT to TSW4 "as-is" but not to TSW3. Some people are apparently having fun with NYT in TSW4 despite all the problems. I don't see why TSW3 players shouldn't be afforded the same opportunity, especially if they have already paid for NYT. Why would we think that releasing broken stuff to TSW4 is appropriate, but only working stuff can be released to TSW3? Conspiracy theory #1: NYT works in TSW3, but DTG doesn't want you to know until they have fixed it for TSW4 Conspiracy theory #2: DTG is going to come up with whatever delays and excuses that they can think of so that you will give up and buy TSW4 Conspiracy theory #3: Although DTG fully intended to update TSW3, and they really wanted to, it just so happens that with all the optimizations for TSW4, it is no longer possible to update TSW3. You will find this out when TSW5 is announced. Sorry! Conspiracy theory #4: There was never going to be any update, but DTG wisely decided not to upset both TSW2 and TSW3 players simultaneously. You will find this out when TSW5 is announced. Sorry! Or is it some combination therof? Or was there something that I missed? That is for you, the player, to decide!
I would say it's because they only want to do one more patch for TSW3. And trust me, you don't want the current version of NYT on TSW4 backported right now as the final version TSW3 gets. There are no passengers, AI trains have random alarms going off and it suffers from stutters.
After a quick test of 4 of the 5 BR 66 i have i found the RHTT loco to be suffering from this 90DG issue. The others aren't all perfect but there in better shape camera wise.
Ya the patches TSW 3 are probably not coming.... I waited for patches for TSW2 to come they never did. Wait until TSW 4 is really cheap on a cd key resellers if you want to get your broken content patched a little so you dont have to give DTG any more money I did that for TSW3 eventually. When the announcement of TSW4 came I uninstalled TSW3. I am not spending any more money on a pay to fix early access game. I spent 80 plus bucks this month on Cyberpunk and its DLC instead TSW4.
This loyal and patient customer is still waiting for the available release window and the long promised already completed TSW2 update.
That pic is just as valid for TSW3 users today and TSW4 users in probably less than a year when DTG next need to pull off another shameless cash grab.
Was this the RHTT BR66? Was the camera facing that way when hit the analong stick option? Or was this the choose veiw option?
RHTT 66. I play with keyboard and I've shown the default camera view. Can't do anything about console specific issues.
My sympathy goes out to those on TSW3 who are after fixes. especially those on Xbox who will never get a fix for Z-Fighting even I on TSW4 can only hope I see it arise eventually how such a prevalent issue isn’t addressed is beyond me quite honestly.
Quotes like this, since the DTG staff apparently read threads like this, make you part of the problem. Support for those of us on TSW2 (where I am) or TSW3 (where some on this thread are) would be nice instead of being arrogant (although I suspect you'll respond by passing the comment off as a "joke"). We deserve to play a game where we can actually finish the routes and promises that are made are kept instead of the EP sitting on streams with his lovely pink ears (and I don't necessarily mean his "charity" stream. The others).
At what point does tsw2 get left behind to you? What updates do you feel entitled to beyond the point dtg have advised they're no longer supporting. I really struggle with this clinching the past. If people prefer tsw2 then saty on it, how it is for what it is. If people want to enjoy all the new features (insert your own perception here) then i dont see why dtg should infinitely be back porting. I get tsw4 is a tad heavier on systems but so is this year's forza vs the last (same tracks and cars almost). Stay in the past without expecting to be catered for until the world ends or consider an upgrade.
Your post comes off as arrogant, snobbish and unsympathetic but even though you posted to me in the middle of the night (remember, I get an alert for that), I'm gonna help you fix that. First of all, intended or not, "Stay in the past without expecting to be catered for until the world ends or consider an upgrade" comes off as telling me I'm the only one who is still on TSW2 (when I'm not) and then ordering me to upgrade is beyond belief. I play the versions in the order they were released. Same with DLC and if TSW2020 were still available, I'd be on that (I thought that's what TS Classic was renamed to, but it isn't). How you've missed that as I have posted it multiple times is something only you can answer. Be that as it may, there are others who don't agree with how I play but they put it in a more respectful way or even say "I understand you play the way you want to". Not you. Not supporting a version doesn't mean they can't fix things especially when they make public statements about patches or fixes and then never deliver. If you feel this is me being "entitled", I think you need to re-evaluate things but I do apologize for wanting a fully functional game where I can complete routes. I'm going to leave you with the thread in question. Take the time to become informed of my issues instead of jumping to conclusions without knowing the facts. Come back when you're finished reading and tell me if you think your points stand. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/the-sand-patch-grade-derail-thread.56044/page-2 Middle of that page. [EDIT - Jan - Antagonizing]
Appreciate your reply Lupo. Thank you. Inquisitive inwould suggest as my intended adjective but i appreciate there's a different lens you're looking through to me. Regarding patches, i get where you're at but eventually times move on
I think the issue is DTG promised a patch for TSW2 then doubled down on the promise time and again for a whole year before finally admitting they were, for want of a better word, lying. Here we are roughly 6 weeks after they promised a final patch for TSW3 and there is no sign of it. Understandably, people who didn’t jump on the TSW4 train and trusted there would be a TSW3 patch, are beginning to wonder if history is about to repeat itself. I’d say right now it’s 50/50.
On past form I think it's more likely to be 10:90. I would be delighted to be wrong but I don't think I will be.
lupojohn I understand perfectly where you come from. I still keep TSW2 for all applicable routes and a complete TSW3 installation. Some more TB extensions are no issue nowadays. Let´s face it: DTG straight out lied to us with their "TSW2-fixes-are-coming, just-waiting-a-tiny-bit-more-for-a-suitable-release-window" - büllmerde. And I wouldn´t be surprised if they´d pull the same PR stunt for Number 3 as well. But 2 years of knowing this franchise just taught me that DTG doesn´t care about reputation and credibility. "Summer-hiatus-for-bug-fixing" anyone? And they (still) can get away with it because there´s no competition (yet!) and a sucker (like me) is born every minute. In a long term outlook this will backfire right into their face, but that´s already another discussion ... Meanwhile I´d suggest you just kiss the TSW2 fixes goodbye and enjoy it as-is. Look at it from the bright side: by .......NOT .... fixing things in TSW2 anymore your installation is NOT exposed anymore to the already legendary DTG "patch" screw ups which break more stuff than they actually fix. The derailing bug you mention is the best example: It was introduced by a desperate attempt to fix issues on a route that was launched with THE pompous fanfare: Correct, SoS. And from there on they lost it and entered quicksand area, piling up more and more bugs. It´s gonna be entertaining to see what rope will take them off this quicksand. Refer to Pipey - the village idiot (but not anymore) - wasting his time in the Derailment / Buffer Block - thread
The promised NYT patch supposedly coming to TSW3 after TSW4's release has already rendered NYT unplayable in TSW4 for many. I am quite happy NOT to see it breaking TSW3 as well. Much as I have many routes I keep installed in TSW2 for the TSW3 bugs that avoids.
