Catch 22 - If I update the Class 37 pack(s) then newer reskins will work but some current reskins will stop working. If I don't update those I have will keep working
Also scenario makers generally keep packs up to date for any new features. So future scenarios will have the latest versions installed
I look at scenarios on RailSim.de and depending on what the activity is I will then choose those I like. Im Köblitzer Bergland 3 Reloaded is a route I like to run and it has 9 pages of scenarios https://rail-sim.de/forum/filebase/filebase/1329-im-köblitzer-bergland-3-reloaded-neu/ I don't have all the requirements so LocoSwap does the rest. Just a case of choosing a route and seeing what is available https://rail-sim.de/forum/filebase/filebase/1227-scenarios/
You've got to be a pretty hard core sim user to want to experience the Pacer. Setting fire to a £20 note would cause me less distress!
I'm actually looking forward to this new version of the pacer. I'm around 2 variants of pacers (142 and 143) every week in running service at the heritage railway I volunteer at. There's also the 1980s class 142 coming soon to TSW4 so I can drive them in both sims.
Be good to see how they implement it. Could be a battle of the pacers soon, just trains tsw4 vs ap tsc
Very much looking forward to this too. I still drive the old AP one occasionally but it really feels its age along side newer releases like the class 150.
Used to experience them in real life, my local area was one of the last to use them before being withdrawn. being replaced with the next oldest rolling stock.
142003 owned by Locomotive services at Crewe worked a special from Wilmslow via Manchester, Liverpool & Chester to Llandudno on the 29th September. The unit has been repainted in to GMPTE Orange It managed to get a set of wheel flats - as heard on the return ECS from Wilmslow to Crewe
I would be totally happy to pay the full price for the updated pacer. I spent quite a few hours with the original Pacer. Best 3 memories I have of pacers where: Around 1986 our house was being done up, so we had to move into another flat. This overlooked the Blackburn to Manchester line. Used to see Pacers all the time. Except when we went to Bolton, then it was a 1st Gen DMU. Was having a day on trains. So got on 142015 at Manchester Victoria. When I sat down, the doors closed and I then found I was locked in, with the train going nowhere. After about 10 mins, they unlocked the doors and then off we went to Rochdale. Finishing work. I was getting the 18:00 Clitheroe service. Normally a 150+153 which got full. This time they ended up putting a 142 to replace it. Never seen a train so full.
I really hope they do an update to the Class 105 sound pack, seems the latest fixes to the core have broken it, or more correctly the sound pack now breaks the PRO signals, I lost the flashing yellows and had to do a file integrity check to restore them, then reinstall the pack. Now seems to work again.
I doubt AP would revisit a pack they no longer sell as it was a sound pack for all first gen DMUs - Class 101/117/121 Sound Pack (Pro). I am surprised that a Sound Pack affected Signals as they are unrelated - Did you report the problem to AP?
Yes, I think you're correct, it was probably more of a coincidence, but still It would be nice to see the enhancement pack updated as it had the added feature of making the gear ratios more realistic with both RPM and sound matching what would happen in the real world when changing gears.
A new set of DMU's built in a similar vein to the Sprinters would be great, especially the class 101. The lack of functionality in them compared to newer releases is stark. Certainly the sound pack is a major inprovement though. I am sure I read in the recent past that he had recorded a class 117 for his "library", maybe that will lead to something.
AP just posted some information and a video about the 142 pack on Facebook along with a detailed post about the 142 Link to video below: https://www.facebook.com/watch?v=341080028450267 looks fantastic. Please keep comments positive please and negativity out of the thread.
Not sure what negativity is expected about the history of a train class. It makes for interesting reading.
Looking forward to having all 3 versions of the pacer in the sim. That video they have uploaded certainly a lovely teaser of one version. Day one purchase for me and can’t wait to see what scenario creators such as Adam and John will do with this pack.
This is my most wanted DLC at the moment. I have lots of scenarios where I’ve had to swap something else in for a Pacer (don’t have the old one). It’s going to be nice to swap the proper train back in and replay them. It sounded excellent on the video.
It's amazing how the most uncomfortable riding machine to exist in Britain since the 1950s 4 wheel railbuses are so popular with folks now you don't have to ride on them. It's the same nostalgia in Germany with the DB BR795 "Scheinenbusse" and the DR BR172 "Ferkeltaxe". Then the same folks are fanatics for "realism"???
There was a report on FB from someone who did the LSL tour from Wilmslow via Manchester and Liverpool to Llandudno & return. They looked forward to the trip but the inside of the train was the same as when it was withdrawn. With 2 + 3 seats the train was quite cramped and the legroom was as bad as the old days. People use rose tinted spectacles when viewing such trains.
I never liked to ride on Pacers when I had to. My last journey on one, some years ago, was not pleasant. It was in December and rainy. There was no heating and the whole inside of the train was damp. Fortunately it was only a couple of stops before changing to a warm, dry HST. I do look forward to it in the game though. I used to see them a lot, so for me they are important to have in the game. As for the 800, I agree. I was back in England recently and saw one in real life for the first time. Not impressed at all with the comfort levels. Fortunately in TSC, I always have a comfy chair!
Another post from AP. Looks great in the grey livery. And coupled up to a 158 as well. Going to be some amazing scenarios with this pack.
I for one didn't mind the pacer. They were rubbish, sure, but so was the original mini, but that was a loved classic as well. Sometimes machines have character, which makes you look past its flaws.
I was fortunate and never rode in one, but I suppose for some people they will be evocative of a time in their life they treasure. I'm not sure they could ever be described as classic. Maybe a case-study, but not classic!
Not so classic when they arrived at a station full of rush hour folks wanting to get off and the d--n doors don't work AGAIN. Multiply it by a number of stops and "Classic" is not how they are remembered in West Yorks.
So you are comparing the 2+3 seating of a railbus with the 2+2 seating of a modern air conditioned train. Maybe you should find some pacers, in preservation, to see how bad they were
Or.... when your SU carb on your mini floods.... AGAIN.... or your subframe mounts rot away... AGAIN.... Still a classic though.
Oh and I forgot to say that once the doors were open, you can't shut the d--n things (until the Guard/Conductor used their 9/11 (if male or size 6/7 if female)), so more delay. Yes, they were wonderful.
Not a question for me, I hope AP will stay with the best Train Simulator that is TSC. (And I think it will outlive TSW, yes.) I've just played some Vorarlberg scenarios on TSW, but to me the fundamental issue with TSW is it looks very artificial and sort of lifeless. Routes are too short. The list of issues is growing and growing, the TSW forums are literally a beta test feedback. Got back to playing Three Country Corner on TSC, and immediately saw the difference. Lot more varied vegetation in TSC - in TSW there's only one shade of green it seems, cows on the fields, farmers standing next to their tractors and chatting, birds in the sky. And a bigger route, from Lindau (D) or Rorschach (CH) to St. Anton (A). Took my ÖBB Krokodil for a lovely ride in one of Not.Silent's WS scenarios. Much more fun than TSW.
We don't know, honestly. I know they already provide sounds for some of the trains, but whether they plan to produce their own content (like a TSW version of the Wherry Lines), I have no idea. I can only say that producing paid sound enhancements is probably something DTG is guarding against this time, hence put the sounds in from the start and get paid that way instead. (That and the enhancements can't port to console.)
Console will make zero difference. Msfs 2020 is available on Pc and Xbox. It didn’t stop them releasing on both platforms. The consoles don’t have mods that Pc has but has a marketplace where 3rd party can be sold. If DTG wanted they could implement a similar feature where there is a ingame marketplace where 3rd party could sell through that and console could have sound packs that way.
