I think there are two at the ELR, there is one waiting restoration with a centre trailer that could go in 50455/50517 if I remember right. I believe Kevin Dowd owns both units at the ELR and possibly the Llangollen one so he would be the one to reach out to for sounds/research.

    Good evening everyone,
It's all about the attention to detail, well in this latest Development Update for our upcoming TSW 4 route Blackpool Branches: Preston - Blackpool & Ormskirk, it is.

We invite you to take a look and read about just some of the areas on the route that have received the golden Just Trains treatment in terms of adding that all important detail to help bring the route to life. Here are some example shots, many more can be found within the development entry. Not too long to go until release now, look out for a few more entries and marketing activity pre release, in the coming weeks.

    Development entry is here:
    https://www.justtrains.net/in-development/tsw-blackpool-preston-ormskirk-route-addon

PS, attached are some extra photos from Facebook for those who may not use the social media platform. 2.jpg 3.jpg 4.jpg 5.jpg 6.jpg

    Cheers, Thomas

Wow. This will be a day one purchase for me. Love what you did for TSC (except for asset distribution which still has many route combinations crashing and needs manual file management due to different versions around depending on installation order), it seems you can bring the asset richness that TSC has over to TSW!

JustTrains joining TSG at the top of TSW devs :D (never really doubted that)

    Cheers!

Really great, the more appreciated after my own ham fisted fumblings in the public editor how this can look so great.

Yes now we're talking. So glad JT appear to be going the extra (golden) mile with this DLC. Shows what West Cornwall could have been had the Dev put some more effort in. Day one for certain.

By the way I wasn't sure about the phone number on the side of the van in the screenshots on JustTrains website - it looked a bit like a 077 number?

I am stunned for words as I honestly can't think of words to show how impressive this is looking. Also 47s in large logo: bliss! Keep up the good work!

Looks like the 08 has some tweaks, black bufferbeams. NTP and GWE are yellow, TVL is red.
    upload_2023-10-17_19-45-47.png
Thank you, JT, for not just releasing the exact same things to us in the same condition as before. This certainly isn't a Diesel Legends case where the coaches, 08 and 101 were literally the exact same ones we already had. We've got a tweaked 08, a 47 in Railfreight grey, new shades on the coaches, and actual mixed newspaper/parcel liveries on the BGs. Every single update that gets posted for this route just gets me more and more hyped for this.

something I think is quite the little attention to detail is that bus stop is missing one of its lower plastic/glass window panes, definitely something quite common from what I’ve seen about :)

Who knows what other surprises JT is holding with this route. Hoping for a class 20 BR blue ;), but they definetly went the extra mile even now.

    Day one for sure!

Also i really hope, DTG can solve the substitution problem, which is really bad at the moment. Not a single route is working properly in TSW4 when it comes to substitution. Beside the Modding topic its the main reason i went back to TSW3.

JT really choose the right time period, also a lot of potential for livery designer

    You mean this one?

Bear in mind that in the 80s and early 90s, prefix codes for areas were a lot different.
0772 is the Preston area code which today is 01772. Many area codes were changed around 1995 to start with the prefix 01 or 02.

This is something you realise if you own many or all dlcs:

For example TSW4 - Riesa / Dresden --> 10 Possible locos for freight substitution, but only get mrce 185.5 and vectrons, sometimes a 143. So basicly only the Routes core locos sub in, the other 9 are just selectable from the menu.

I guess the DTG azubi "forgot" to set the tickbox for substitution, and instead made the other locos just selectable from the menu.

    - 155 doesnt spawn
    - 187 never spawns on any route
    - 185 RP - Doesnt spawn
    - 182 MRCE - doesnt spawn
    and so on...

A geeky thing to notice but spotted the concrete style lampposts that dated from the 1940s and 50s I believe but were still prolific in the 80s. Amazing attention to detail. I hope they give off the lovely orange glow at night.

I will be playing this whilst listening to 80s music. Can’t wait to buy. Looks absolutely superb.

For avoidance of confusion, a bit of info from Discord - the 47 shown above is in Large Logo BLUE not RF Grey, it's the sunset lighting making it look grey at a distance. Confirmed by JT - also I think RF Grey 47s had red buffer beams which that one doesn't.

(That's not to say that RF Grey won't be there of course, but the one in the screenshot is blue)

Would you consider some night shots of the attractions in the next dev update ???. I’m dying to see what it looks like at night. This is the route that will make me buy TSW4. Just waiting for it. Looks absolutely amazing.

Wow really doesn't do this route justice. So much effort and attention has been invested by JT. Like many, I can't wait to be able to get stuck into this route. If only all other developers would try just half as hard to give us something more than mediocre new routes and trains and spread the seeds of variety with reworked rather than recycled types. Thanks JT. Perhaps a little too soon, but I can't wait to see what you will be working on next. Bound to be amazing.

I think I will be spending a lot of time in these signal boxes! So lets hope the chairs are comfy. :) Just out of curiosity, when in the signal box, can one hear the bell codes? Would be great if you can but understandable if it hasn't been implemented.

  41. Any hints if the route will be released by end of this month?

I've managed to do a workaround which will make stuff spawn if you own it.

Seen 31's, 40's, 45's, 37's and 101's subbed in whilst at Preston testing something yesterday.

This is looking really really good. Many have called it the “British Niddertalbahn”, but I have plenty of reasons to believe it might be much better than that:
    • Loco Selection. Niddertalbahn introduced the charming DB BR 628 along with a modified variant of an existing German shunter for freight services. Apart from that, some passenger trains from Linke Rheinstrecke appeared as AI at two stations. Blackpool Branches includes the legendary Pacer along with numerous other pieces of rolling stock, many of which have been slightly updated by the Just Trains team, for example with added headlights, destinations and so on. Lots of unique AI substitutions and services are also present. All in all, you’re going to have a lot of rolling stock variety on this route.
    • Timetable. Niddertalbahn mostly has the same services going up and down the line. Blackpool Branches is just on a whole new level there. Surely one of the TSW routes with the biggest service variety, especially if you have the layers installed.
    • Scenery. Niddertalbahn had excellent scenery, but there were arguably not a lot of unique landmarks, and most of the stations were little more than a platform next to the tracks. Blackpool Branches obviously has tons of landmarks which we’ve seen in the dev updates, and there are also bigger stations which have been recreated beautifully.
    • Communication. This might not really have much to do with the route itself, but I just wanted to say how much I appreciate the regular dev updates. The developers of Niddertalbahn were quite secretive, and its launch stream showed how passionate the team was. It would have been nice to get some regular updates from them as well.

All in all, this seems to be shaping up to be a product with the quality on the level of Niddertalbahn, but on a much larger scale. Niddertalbahn is excellent, but there isn’t a lot of replay-ability because of the simplistic nature of the route and the timetable. Blackpool Branches appears to have a lot more to offer in that regard. Very hyped for the release!

  46. Excellent points.

Let's hope there are some Easter Eggs (not just the donkey LOL) in the route.

In any case it has received much publicity and seems to have a lot of railfans (Brits but I am Australian) excited. I had one ex pat in my class at high school from Blackpool. That is all I know about the local area.

If it is like the German routes in TSW then I am excited. Because the German routes are excellent, even Rapid Transit.

Is it electrified these days or still diesel? 158s run on it?

The route from Preston to Blackpool North was electrified fairly recently. The route from Kirkham to Blackpool South is still unelectrified and diesel operated.

I agree with everything you said but just want to really highlight this point as this is where JT have absolutely exceeded above everyone else bar none. This regular communication and updates about the route's creation has very much been appreciated and really helped build up the excitement even more for this route. I don't want to get ahead of ourselves too much but I hope this will be something that you take into future releases, along with the era and actual route quality we are hopefully going to see here.

Unfortunately mediocrity appears to be accepted by many and even asked for by some. Its such a shame we have had to wait so long for something on this level. It's a bonus that it's set in an interesting era too. The fact that it's a 3rd party product is not a surprise. The best work in TSC tended to come from 3rd parties or from DTG routes that had a heavy 3rd party involvement. The DTG business model of release and forget is nothing new so its nice that the likes of TSG and JT are bringing the A game and show up Rivet and Skyhook to be honest. Don't wish to go OT any further and look forward to this more with every update.
