It's funny two years ago a new locomotive was announced, a diesel locomotive when the tsw2 came out and now it's said that no locomotive would be announced because I read other information about it then two years ago it was said that a diesel locomotive would be coming that looked like the DB294 it's in the picture and now no one comes out, yes, first big promises are made and then nothing comes of you anymore, I call you kidding soory, that's how I see it
I just looked up a image of the 294 and now you’ve just got me thinking, you might be right. I swear I heard something about the 294 at some point. If it’s never been mentioned then it’s strange because I feel like it was coming soon Edit: unless you & I mistaking it for the G6, br 363 & 204
Where was that suggested? Reminds me of a fabulous line from the movie "Clerks", video rental customer: “Do you have that one with that guy who was in that movie that was out last year?” ...
I only remember Matt mentioning the V90 once in a stream years back. As far as as I recall, he said that while there probably won’t be a way around the V90 coming some day, it won’t be in the foreseeable future since the the game is pretty saturated with German diesel shunters. So quite the opposite.
I don't remember anything about the DB 294, but I do remember the Ludmilla was also talked about quite a lot. If I remember it was originally said to be coming for RSN? At one point we also had news about the DB 420, we even had some pictures of it, but it's still not released.
Can't remember of any announcement of a 294 over the years. Maybe someone asked about it in a stream and some other one said NO. But nothing more than that. Biggest problem with a 294 is getting usable audio i would say. The ones left that are operable are in constant usage on yards, the ones that are not in use are not operable anymore, and the general fact that it is more and more impossible to officially get to any loco near by to make any recordings. 420 still in the making. Still in the baby steps of the making, and needs time. Will come when ready. No one knows when it will be ready yet. 232 and 218 are in production and i have not decided yet on which routes they will find their home for scenarios. Since TSW4 you can use the locos anywhere you want at least. But RSN was the choice two years back where there was no other suitable route for the loco/s. That has changed obviously.
Would it be feasable to make a locomotive add-on add traffic to several routes? With RSN being possibly one of my favorite routes, I would be happy to see the Ludmilla there. It's already a busy route with plenty of variety, but we still have some unused unelectrified sidings, like the power plant. But I assume other routes could also use some proper diesel traction, so it might be good to use the locomotive on as many routes as possible. That way it could even boost the sales both for the routes and for the locomotive itself.
I'd expect that the Ludmilla will come for a TOD4 route. So RSN is categorically out as long as there is no upgrade planned. I don't know if it geographically fits, but i can see it coming for Bremen-Oldenburg. Maybe also Left rhine, but i doubt that you can see the Ludmilla in reality there a lot of times. Niddertalbahn and Maintalbahn - I'd say: maybe. Dresden-Riesa - maybe, but rather unlikely as it just got a loco DLC with the Vetron. KWG - rather no, because the Ludi is not known for her topspeed. Or it's coming for the next "big" german route. But out of these possbilities, I'd say BRO makes a lot of sense for the Ludmilla. Sure, the 420 comes for HMA which still didn't have it's TOD4 upgrade. But I doubt TGS is going to wait for another route to be upgraded by DTG. So this also begs the question towards DTG: Any news about a HMA TOD4 upgrade?
Not feasible because it creates to much dependencies to other DLC. Only core game and one further DLC should be asked for to run a new DLC. Otherwise the DLC would sell not quite well. And if you put a 232 onto those power plant tracks the tracks might be go this: \_/ 232s are seen everywhere. The version we do is the former Railion now Cargo (unbranded) one. Basically a 'modern' Version. These babies run where they are needed. Obviously not on the Niddertalbahn because it's to heavy, and not on an SFS/NBS route as they miss LZB equipment.
What do you mean it creates dependency to other DLCs? Just because it would give layers to both RSN and BRO for example, it would not mean you need both route to buy it, does it? I mean the F7 also adds layers to both Cajon Pass and Antelope Valley, but you don't need both routes to have it.
Thought more about scenarios than services. Of course, i can add service layers for all the possible routes the loco could run. If you want to wait another 5 years for the loco being released, no problem.
No I'm personally totally fine with one route. Is a substitution for an e-loco technically possible? E.g. everywhere you can use the 185 you can also use the 232?
Is it only you creating the whole thing, from modelling through SimuGraph to timetables? In that case, no longer it takes so long, especially with the higher quality your work is known for. I don't know how these things go, but I would have expected DTG to maybe help out. I mean someone could assist and create stuff like timetable layers, since that is not directly tied to the rolling stock itself. Of course, this is just the ideal scenario in my head - but I think with locomotive add-ons the most sensible decision would be to insert them into as many routes as one can. That way, owners of several routes have more reason to buy the locomotive, because there is a higher chance it adds something to the route they already have. And once you buy the locomotive, you might be more likely to buy other routes you previously did not want to, because now you know you could use it on other routes as well. Again, as I have said, it is just what I think would be ideal. I am aware of development time limitations, but with help from DTG timetable creators, I assume it should be feasable. I mean it's pretty much the same thing as layering in previous loco add-ons into new routes (like the 101 appearing on most german route since it's release), except with old routes.
Enabling substitutions for locos is a very quick process, we have seen trainsimcz do it often laughably even before loco DLCs were actually released, just from the data present in gamefiles. But of course, if you don't do it as a developer and leave modders to do so, it's a big finger to console players.
Activating substitution for a specific rail vehicle is not just flipping some switches, what is indeed quite easy. It's more about considering what happens when you do that, and then test all the possibilities out and at the end switch it off again as it won't work quite well with the current substitution system. Makes no sens when you maybe get the new shiny loco subbed into your beloved train but the train then can't go over the next hill. We already have lots of such subbed trains in the game that then will mess up the timetable because it's to slow or get stuck on a gradient.
IIRC, the BR 294 was supposed to come with an S-Bahn Rostock route, but that was dropped very early in development, due to not having interesting gameplay? I think it was something like that?
