Just back from a trip to Munich via Paris and got there on TGV so thought I would replicate the return run from Munich to Augsburg as a free roam. It turns out that the TGV cannot work here, nor it appears on any other route barring southeastern or LGV. Is this a known bug even though it has A/C voltage or am I doing something wrong? I know I could probably run it ‘off the rails’ but wanted to drop it into a timetable where it actually runs
the TGV does run well on the training center too, obviously. but I just tried, the TGV does not work normally on routes like MAG, sorry.
The TGV we have on the game, is the first Duplex, the 200 Series and it’s running under 1.5 kV DC and 25 kV AC 50 Hz. That’s why it doesn’t work on free roam there. The one you took to Germany was the TGV Euroduplex or 2N2, 3UA 4700 series, able to run under 15 kV 16 2/3 Hz as well.
You could take the TGV all the way from London to Munich? You make a good point though. Not sure the same LGV in Marseille Avignon can use the Munchen line. If so hopefully DTG can amend it.
Aachen to Köln is also a route were the TGV runs, specificaly the PBKA models (Paris-Brussels-Koln-Amsterdam) used by Thalys now Eurostar.
My pleasure. They look identical indeed but when you take a look inside it’s really different, same for the cab and other different things outside as well. I think you guessed it but you can only use it on Scenario Planner I’m afraid
How do you buy the tickets? When I search route information on google/internet all that comes up are these bulk generic 'agents' that could be fraudulent.... Just an example: Rome2rio Omio seat61 thetrainline I have no idea who to trust.... https://duckduckgo.com/?q=ticket+prague+to+budapest&atb=v385-1&ia=web
The Trainline is not a fraudulent website and can be used for what you want to do, although you may be charged a booking fee that could be avoided elsewhere.
Well technically there's nothing forcing you to go through Paris. A London-Munich direct service could use the "LGV Interconnexion" which links the Nord, Est and Sud-Est LGVs, via Roissy CDG airport and Disneyland (highlighted below, except for the Sud-Est which isn't in the frame). Right now, there's a Strasbourg-Nantes service and a Nantes-Lille that just met around the Interconnexion - Est junction. And then there are a few historical slow lines, mainly the "Grande Ceinture" (or Greater Belt), mostly used for freight but also allowing the Sud-Est - Atlantique - Nord LGV connexion west of Paris and occasionally usable as a backup on the eastern side should anything go wrong with the LGV Interconnexion. That, however, doesn't help with the economical viability of a direct London to Germany service.
