I hope when this comes out that my other routes will accept my apologies as I play this to death.

Well in my perspective DTG has put a lot of effort in their DLCs too. They went the extra mile with a lot of Route releases (Joes timetables, advanced brake systems, PIS upgrades for trains, Class 166 upgrade...). The community mostly got used to features we could only dream 2.5 years ago.

As a fan of the BR era, i just wish there would have been more routes like NTP, TVL. They seem to have stopped after the creation of the BR Diesels.

With JT i really see a possiblity we might seen a Class 60 or Class 58 in the Future.

JT did do the Class 60 add on for TSC so its possible. Personally I would love to see some of their loco dlc packs from TSC make it into TSW

I'd want to see a Class 56 before a 60 appears but before both of those, I want to see a Class 25.

Agree with that, although it doesn't seem a fashionable statement to make at the moment.

JT do seem to be going above an beyond though, this is going to be such an atmospheric route.

A 25 is needed desperately on TSW. Would be a great DLC for NTP

While I'm looking forward to this route as much as anyone, mainly because of the era and contemporaneous rolling stock, I hope we're not putting too much pressure on Just Trains to produce what some players are claiming to be the best thing since sliced bread.

I suppose, given some of the rather pedestrian UK stuff we've been fed recently, people can be forgiven for getting a little carried away with the prospect of trains and a route that might need a little dexterity to operate.

I'll be satisfied if it's just very good. I'm not expecting the second coming of TSW.

  13. If you want a Ferrari you obviously pay 15-20 times the amount of a normal sedan.

A Lexus, probably about 5 to 10 times.

Most people don't have any issues with the routes in TSW4 (they get better every year) because they know its good value. TSW4 standard comes with 3 routes for the price of 1. Can't argue that that isn't good value.

If you want a Ferrari, go and buy one.

But then you get the likes of the Class 31, Vectron and BR101 addons that knock it out of the park for the same price as other add ons.

I wouldn't mind paying more for guaranteed higher quality that's released when it's done and not rushed to hit a deadline.

Everything in TSW more or less the same price when released. They drop in sales. That said I would be happy to pay a bit more for DLC on a par with Blackpool.

I’ve been to Blackpool many times in my life, and of all the UK routes this by far is one of my most anticipated. I know I’ll be parking up along side the pleasure beach to get some amazing shots of the big dipper. I’m hoping Just Trains add some night lightening to it, to really bring it to life. I want to be lit up and stand out on my night drives. If not, maybe add it as an optional mastery challenge.

Very appreciative that we get to see different liveries for the Class 08, 47 and even some of the coaching stock. Hopefully the included stock can someday be enabled to layer back onto NTP and TVL to further enhance those routes. Class 142 on TVL is a must!

Agreed, would love to see those routes get new timetables to use these stock, as well as just to feature the things we've had since then overall. But at least if all else fails, Free Roam has got your back. And JT have included the destination boards for TVL and WCL on the Pacer so that's a plus.

They always say that about everything though. Not that I’m saying there are plans, but it makes sense that they don’t want to say ‘we are thinking about it’ because people interpret that as absolute

Unrelated but since there is no other thread of Just Trains in this forum:

    1. Do you plan to create more new german routes for TSW in the future?
    2. Do you have any upcoming sale events in the next couple of months on your web site which include Arosa line or München-Augsburg?

Buzzing for this route. Never something that particularly interested me in terms of location but purely the fact there is SO much attention to detail, loads of different traction to select from, it’s extremely busy and that there are so many new tweaks and bits JT are putting in such as the 47s new livery, the BGs in BR blue, Hi Vis on track, the list goes on. I am ecstatic for this. TSW4 has taken a MASSIVE step back onto the back burner for me in terms of playing i games as I’m pretty bored, but this has really sparked my interests. Big ups to JT for this route. Can’t wait! Hopefully a release date soon!

Hmm... Interesting. Still does not make sense to me why DTG and Rivet sell their content over a third party creator then but okay I got it.

A shame the quality seems good.

Anyways, my second question is still valid.

Thank you, but in fact I confused both of these. I saw the good german TSC routes you mean but also some new TSW2 routes like München-Augsburg in their store, which led me to the assumption they at least co-worked on these new routes.

Not so sure about if they would consider some new TSW content like that though.

If I recall Just trains made german content for Train Sim Classic.

completely agree, everything is no plan until it’s official.

generally no plans can be interpreted as many things that are unofficial

    1. Could be working on it not announcing it
    2. Could be working on it but not sure if possible
    3. Want to, not enough allocated time
    4. Know it’s too much work so not
    5. Half done needs finishing time
    6. Going to get round to it on a new route what comes with the 31

    plenty of possibilities still :)

Looking good! Having worked at TF (Travellers Fare) there is one issue. The coffee machine is out of its time. Back in the 80’s / 90’s these machines weren’t in use. All TF units had water urns and not modern type espresso machines. It’s a small detail but considering the attention to detail you have put in thought I would raise this minor point.

New photos from JT Facebook - you can add 'named 47s' to the list of confirmed new features. This is looking absolutely outstanding, far beyond my wildest expectations honestly.

Very similar to the S class (pictured S class 2101) narrow gauge locomotive in Western Australia 1067mm.

The Q class was built in the same time, just 4 cylinders more of a 710 engine General Motors. The Q class is the big brother standard gauge version where about 25 were built. 1435mm.

These were constructed back in 1998.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westrail_S_class

A little off track but relates to the bone theme with the Class 58 UK freight locomotive above, quoted in this post.

Named 47s! :o The hype keeps getting bigger for me, this looks to be one of if not the best routes in TSW, at least for me (I'm a big fan of 'back in time' routes, more so than of modern routes). A bit of nitpicking: it seems 47480 when in BR blue had a red nameplate, not a black one. This could also be due to the picture being at night, but I just thought I'd mention it. Great work regardless!

brilliant looking route, very much looking forward to see it released

Particularly that reflection screenshot is a brilliant shot, can see some clear great quality station designs in that too.

edit: I guess that saying that smaller development teams can’t do a great decently long routes is proved fantastically wrong by JT. Seems to be showing that good length development time and not rushed out too early is what’s needed to bring great quality, well done JT. I’m confident of a smooth release, hope all goes well.

Well, I don't think we know how big JT's team is and how it compares size-wise to DTG's teams.

  47. AtherianKing

    AtherianKing Guest

I've heard it’s relatively further down size in comparison. But I won’t/wouldn’t get into taking aim at particular developer because of that, just in a broader general view of how such a factor compares.

I don’t think theirs anything wrong with developers taking positive points from others to further develop their own. Just a win win scernario.

We are indeed a very small and close working team comprising of:

x2 Scenery Developers. Myself and Mark. Covering all things from Track laying, signaling and speed sign set up to the placement of houses and trees you drive past. Along side that myself was in charge of creating the scenarios and tutorials.

x3 Asset developers. Benedict, Callum & Marcin. However there skills have also seen them work on many other back scene elements from 24hr timetabling to technical set up.

We have had to become very versatile over the last 18 months learning many important aspects of the unreal engine, not an easy challenge when you have had Train Sim Classic running through your everyday practices for so long :D

    Regards, Tom

Not saying five people isn't a small team, but we don't know how that compares to DTG's team sizes.

Its not the size of the team that matters, but the quality of the finished product and from what I have seen so far the JT team seem to be hitting it out of the park! I think the biggest difference between JT and DTG teams is that JT are probably not under the same time constraints as DTG. Both teams are made up of highly talented developers in my book. I also reckon that my prediction of a Mid to late November release may not be too far off the mark! :)
