Good Morning, I am making some scenarios for the wonderful Wycombe route. I am setting the scenarios in Autumn. It looks great at night, nice and dark with not funny affects in the sky. It looks fine in mid morning, however early morning around 4am and 6am I am getting a purple sky, the colour of a Bishops tunic. If I switch to winter it looks better apart from the fact that there is snow by default. If I switch to summer the sky is a fiery red. This is both when using the Exeter to Kingswear weather which is one of the routes required for the Wycombe route and using the AP weather pack 2 including having changed the time of day files for the AP ones. I also have NWC installed at the skies are fine on that route so I assume it is something route specific. I did have a search but I can't find that much about it and just wondered if anyone had come across this before and knew of a fix. Thanks in advance.
I just surfed to google images and searched "autum morning sky" In the results there are a lot purple ones.
Each route can have its own sky colours, as defined in the TimeOfDay files for eight different times of the day. If you don't like a particular one you can apply AP weather and sky, or choose a 3D weather which will look different and is independent from ToD files. The Wycombe Branch uses the ToD files from the Woodhead Line, so if you apply the weather EP to that one you'll see it on Wycombe Branch too.
More of a discussion question... I used to say that these skies are unrealistic, bla bla. They mostly are. Then again, I've seen quite a few yellow and orange auras surrounding me in certain weathers, and I photographed this: Tricky, this one isn't fully orange (or peach). As always, this is fog / cloud picking up the sun and redirecting it. So, I was wondering whether TSC settings are somewhat going through phases, so that running long scenarios you get to enjoy a bit of everything. Instead of having to define 219 weathers and transitions. Of course, with the side effect that certain times of day are going to be funky. The basic example I noticed with overnight free roams is the dark phase and the moon phase. So, is it a valid strategy or should TSC have some kind of an easily scriptable, even player toggleable weather engine where you can decide virtually any RGB. On top of, how long days should be - evenings tend to be extremely stretched. Because, when running a winter scenario at 7pm I expect pitch black.
It is all up to you, the route developer. You can create four blueprints, one per season, defining everything from sunrise/sunset times, sun's path (azimuth), sky colour (2 colours and a gradient angle, ambient light, shadow colours etc. for eight different time of days.
