My partner is currently trying to get home from London on the ECML, and wouldn't you know it, signalling faults at Peterborough meaning no trains are running. Some big Train Sim World energy going on there. Did someone reload a save and get the red signals bug?

    LOL

If there was a connection, we´d be back to the stone age. You could spawn at real world SPG and watch a live derailment.

DTG syndrom is very infectious, authority should look at DTG live services and its possible involvement.

St Neots yesterday, it was (near) Peterborough on Monday. I was very lucky with this yesterday and was one of the last trains through before everything stopped and I ended up with an early finish so in a selfish way I am not complaining! This section really has got 'DTG syndrome' recently though.
Apologies to your partner for the trouble (out of pure interest where were they going and did they get there in the end?) and make sure you claim on the delay repay.

Currently on a train home this morning. Should be back up here in the north in 2 and a half hours. Thankfully there were a few of them down there together, so they all went for a meal together once all the trains were cancelled.
All because work wanted the group to make a pointless trip to head office from the Newcastle branch, which resulted in 2 days of them not getting any work done Wednesday and Thursday, and now work footing the bill for an extra night at the hotel and them not being at work today either.

Well apparently the job is completely stopped at Swindon this morning due to flooding (probably Rushey Platt), not surprising given it persisted down with heavy rain most of the night. Even driving across to Tesco this morning was a bit hairy with standing water across the main road and roundabouts in several places. Now driving a hybrid you have to think twice about going through floods as while the electric motor is high up in the engine compartment, the battery lives somewhere under the back seat.

Off topic - The motor is lower down than you think, it'll be in line with the gearbox/driveshafts. And the HV battery is a sealed unit. You'll have more risk of pulling water into the ICE engine or knackering your 12v battery.

I hope the flooding clears, I need to get a train from Kemble to London on Sunday.

Didn’t want to create a new thread just for quite frankly a bit of stress relief, but tonight were a badden as well. We spent about two hours sat outside York and then pulled into York to then find out the train were cancelled. Then wi got on another train which luckily has just got me to Peterborough where that has been cancelled, luckily that’s where I were going to change, though I think it’s a taxi to Stamford now! I would like to say that all the staff on board were lovely and obviously isn’t their fault. Apparently something at Huntingdon, how that affected us at York I don’t know!

Once again not a complaint as such as staff were great and it must have been incredibly stressful for them but not the trip I though I were having when I got on at Newcastle!

This seems to have helped too whilst I wait to get back home so sorry if it sounds ranty!

Sorry to hear that mate, sadly it were OHLE issues between Peterborough and Huntingdon so not much we could do. I were one of the trains in this traffic jam (actually I were just north of York too for near on two hours) and so can say that is why you were delayed at York. I must say though I only finished work about 3 hours later than I should have done and got home half hour to 45 mins ago and have a much shorter shift tomorrow, which is shaping up to be a bad day too, so if you can find a positive in that feel free to share it! I hope you are back safe home now and doesn't put you off rail in the future.

No, it’s alright, like you say nothing you can do! That’s a very long traffic jam! Home and dry now so no harm done really, I’ve learnt that extra time away from the wife can be good sometimes and I’m only a few months in!

The ECML had disruption at both ends today.
Between Peterborough and Kings Cross with the OHLE issues and Edinburgh with power failure.
Both disruptions are expected to last until at least 09:00 this morning.
One train into York (1S25) tonight was 250 minutes late. Yes, that's 4hrs 10mins late.

Today was ironically the first time in a week that my partner made it home on time, thanks to the train starting at Newcastle, rather than Edinburgh, and therefore not being delayed getting from Edinburgh to Newcastle for once.

The ECML was once again in chaos tonight as the wires were down between Stoke Junction and Bytham viaduct.
1D26 (800201) Kings Cross - Skipton was seemingly involved in the incident and arrived at Grantham 355 minutes late (that's 5hrs 35mins late).

There have been several issues with OHLE or signalling recently on the ECML.

Think there was also trouble on the Western at Ladbroke Grove on Thursday and Friday after the wires came down. Not a good time to be stuck on a Crossrail Class 345 with no toilets (who agreed to that one?) for several hours. No wonder they ended up having to evacuate the trains and walk passengers to the nearest station.

At a guess I would suggest both incidents involved locations where headspans are in use rather than gantries or posts. Just not robust enough for heavy use or extreme weather.

Problems with the OHLE between London Kings x and Grantham today. All LNER services are not running between London and York. Only services going north from York will be running.
