Is the DB BR 642 going to layer anywhere?

Second this ... Very distracting on xbox when whole displays or entire sides of cabs (Vecton especially) are flickering. Been an issue for a while now.

I completely agree, 100%. I’ve been trying to bring more attention to it, with it going on so long and completely ruining many trains. No acknowledgment as of yet.

TSW has a timetable mode, scenarios, livery/scenarios designer, an editor in beta mode, and a photo mode. Meanwhile simrail has multiplayer and a barebones single player mode for now anyway. I believe they will be adding a timetable mode to that game as well

The issue isn't money. DTG aren't short on cash. Not to mention they are owned by a large publishing company. The problem is that DTG rushes routes on release in the pursuit of a quick profit and issues are left unfixed or if there is a fix, it breaks something else.

In SimRail from what I've seen, issues like that aren't common and they actually bother to release free trains. They don't have to do that, but they choose to do so unlike DTG who will happly charge for reskins of existing trains. Not to mention they do take their time when it comes to releasing things and aren't rushing the product out the door unlike DTG.

I don't get why there will be some that have this view that DTG are short on cash or that just because another game has less issues means that they have more money when that just isn't the case.

Here's what I don’t understand. And this pattern goes for most content needing a fix. Why when there are multiple items requiring fixing, like windshield wipers not working and the cab view being incorrect, is only one of those items fixed, leaving the other ones still broken which will require yet another update. Like why wouldn’t you just fix both of those at once and then release the update? Or fix everything wrong and release one update fixing everything instead of cherry picking specific things to fix and leaving other stuff broken? Not being able to drive certain DLC in the rain because the wipers don’t work would be a deal breaker for me. It makes zero sense.

Yeah, to me if you're doing a bugfix on a loco, you'd do all the low hanging fruit at once, so you don't need to come back.

After the rollercoaster that was today’s PS5 patch:

What exactly led to such a destructive patch making it into consumer hands in the first place?

What measures have you taken to ensure this doesn’t repeat?

Are you ever going to finish steam locomotives and add manual firing?

I figured I would add this to be a possible question for the Q&A, it should help clear up any misunderstandings going around.

Has there been any recent changes with regards to licensing of the GWR brand ?

Edit: would be helpful to manage future expectations of such licensing and whether GWE is potentially not going to be available if so.

When, if ever, are you going to fix the Scenario Designer "2.0"?
    - Disappearing train names on services
    - Broken checks for, hopefully in the eyes of your developers, unwanted "effects" like...
    • ...being able to set the start of services at the same location at the same time (which also raises the question on how you are planning, if you do plan lol, to fix it? Will you flat out disable any additional services on the same platform completely like in 1.0? Or will you enable multiple services on the same platform but not at the same time with some restrictions or maybe even without restrictions, but with checks?)
    • ...being unable to edit a path correctly in a service without deleting the path? Like edited stops, and sometimes starts and stops, not being saved?
    • ...and maybe one thing I forgot but I give it the benefit of the doubt that it is not the case
    - Broken passenger loading & unloading on chained paths after switching cabs (having to open the doors on the wrong side of the platform, making passengers essentially useless)

Thank you for your incredibly kind and polite answer. What´s not true about it?

Maybe I've misunderstood something here, but I thought I've heard or read somewhere about DTG taking over the BR 187 sound-update earlier :|

Oh, so there is a 187 in MML a well? I didn't know that. I'm not that into British routes.
That makes me sad to hear as I was hoping for the German 187 to be drivable at last.
    :(

Thank you for your answer anyway :)

As much as I think a good implementation would help the general player base, multiplayer doesn’t have any interest to me, I don’t use online multiplayer games.

Never. Dtg decided around the time tsw3 was released. They are going to focus on singleplayer and improving the experience.

    Not only the liveries.

Why can't we save our progress in the Dovetail Live Account and are required to have both the new and the old game installed to do the transfer?

If I can't store my custom information in the account, what actually is the sense of having it and requiring us to share our personal information with you if we can't have benefits like a whole entired, and clean and easy transfer from one game to another?

I doubt both since I can't see any clue on the roadmap which shows the opposite nor masterclass tutorials came out for iinformation quite a while and ask myself rather the following:

Is DTG planning to upgrade the Editor at all anymore in the TSW4 roadmap? Will changes maybe only come to it in TSW5?

Or was it even planned as an one and only thing to release the Editor in this way and leave it without further development?

Many members in the community have big plans with Editor. Please don't let us left alone with it in its current state.

It’s not bad now in SimRail but it’s only really effective because the signal posts can be manned by live players which introduces the random element. There is of course still the scope for drivers to disrupt things by running slowly or doing stupid things but that largely seems to have been eliminated. It’s mainly a social thing as you sound the horn passing other player trains or exchange brief messages on chat or teamspeak. Though casual banter seems to be discouraged.

The other factor is logistics. Running a network of servers to facilitate MP costs money and SimRail have been fairly tight lipped on how this will be funded going forward. There is also the issue of moderation (and who moderates the moderators?). Seen some fairly tense discussions on the official forum from parties who feel aggrieved by bans or kicking. And in the case of DTG look no further than these forums particularly weekends where there is little or no moderation until the team return to work on Monday morning.

And as much as I enjoy SimRail MP I still yearn for a better SP experience. The other train game with MP is Run 8 but that was an even less fulfilling experience.

I suspect at some point MP will come to TSW or more likely a successor game, but not any time soon.

Could we have more information on future releases and what is coming rather than the drip feed secrecy.

When I see a sort of announced UK, electric route, set in modern times on the roadmap and weeks of speculation starts I get excited about what it could be and hope for certain routes. When the last two turned out to be a reuse of the 323 on a route I’d never heard of and a section of the ECML that I didn’t expect or want to buy it’s really disappointing.

I’d rather know sooner what the upcoming routes and trains are so at least expectations are managed and if it turns out the route is not something for me I can just focus on what I already have.

Nothing wrong with the above two routes. Just think life’s short and all this speculation along with pages and pages of what routes could be included and what trains are going to be in there wastes a lot of time. Just my thoughts and I’m sure others prefer the mystery and fun of speculation and I respect that.

I would like to know more about upcoming routes as well, but I guess it's part of a common marketing strategy to keep everything secret short until preordering can start and people do so because they are in hype about it.

Aside of that, it would mean to confirm/announce a route at a moment they just started to realize the project and this can be dangerous, because it might be the project cannot be finished due to some upcoming license or creation issues when referring to the real world environment.

But yeah, +1 for sharing a little more light into upcoming route "plans" at least and stop that "intended leak" nonsense thing.

Are there any Routes based in the south on the list? Yes or no
Are there any Routes based in Western England on the list? Yes or no
Is it time to think of having a rest on northern based Routes like southern based Routes have been on?
What's happened to the frequent steaming for both tsw and tsc?

For me the most important topic right now is the implementation of shaders generation upon loading, instead of using the on demand generation while playing as we have now, as the later clearly has an impact on overall performance.

    Cheers

Double edged sword. Look how much hate and disappointment the last few TSW3 routes got when they "wern't what people wanted"
I'd rather this new style of nothing until it is released

Streaming is done outside of normal working hours and requires staff to stay late at night. Since they are also busy outside work and it's tough staying up late, they can't have a stream everyday.

Are there plans to make profiles renamable? My profile is called "Test" because that was the initial purpose, then I wanted to keep the progress, kept the profile and even imported it into TSW4 now. So the game is still saying things like How's it going, Test? and I can't change it :(

If that's challenging to implement because some systems rely on a immutable name you could also introduce an additional property "display name" or something

    1) Any news on the NYT freight layer?

    2) Given it already existed why wasn't a UP loco and a couple of relevant freight wagons included within the Antelope Valley Line? This seems a much better solution (and value for newer players) compared to the layering actually implemented.

    3) What is being done on making US routes (particularly freight) more authentic? The feature set for British and German routes seems to be in a good place for realism, yet for the US you don't represent proper distributed power or PTC, are these even being worked on?

They already said no on a nyt freight layer. It causes problems because it ends up using up too much memory which caused crashing on their next gen consoles and pc

Yes and my question is are they working on fixing that so it's releasable or has it (like the LIRR timetable update from long long ago) been abandoned as too difficult.

There was mention a while back of a route set in Aisa. Any news on this? I've long been looking forward to a Japanese route in TSW.

Perhaps I can help with two of these. Concerning SKA, those services should be available if you just select "continue journey" instead of clicking on the specific service. This is of course a known bug as you say, but at least there is a workaround. For CRR, I am wondering what particular service you are referring to. Although there is one known completely broken and impossible service, I don't think it is part of the journey. I thought I was able to complete that journey; there is one service that is almost impossible that involves an underpowered train starting on an icy slope, but it is doable. As far as DTG acknowledging your questions and fixing these issues...

Union workshop. But they're brand new to tsw. I think they joined early in the year. But it took just trains over a year to learn the tools and create a route. Would expect uw to do the same

Is it true what some community mates said here, that we will get no new american freight route in the next 12 months?

Also on the 801's, when going through a neutral section, the line volt lights remain on, should these not briefly go off when passing through said section?

Yes so neutral sections don’t work on the route. When you have the front pan up the line volt and vcb lights are both on when it should only be the line volt light on. And when you have to back pan up the line light is the only one on which is correct, but when you pass through NS the line & vcb lights should swap between on and off briefly.

Another problem is when you switch to using the back pan and put the reverser to neutral the pan drops which I’m sure shouldn’t happen.
