I'm fine with waiting before I get my train fix, but I have the following questions:

1. What editions will be available on disc for consoles? Standard only (as with TSW3) or Deluxe/Special too?
2. Willl there be any way to get preorder discounts for physical that are available for digital?
3. When can we expect the "more details to follow"?

GAME store in Spain has the Deluxe Edition listed:

The description says that it includes the 3 standard routes + LGV Mediterranee for 49,99€.
The box says that it also includes art cards.



Update: The spanish distributor Meridian Games says the physical version will be released 27/10/2023.

Really interesting too, as I think (if Game can be trusted in l'Espana) its the first time a physical release has diverged from the digital offerings in terms of routes, as for digital only the top-end special edition has LGV (plus the other three older routes)

I like the idea of the art cards too, I am a sucker for feelies

Ta JD, that's cushty, wasn't expecting a release date as TSW3 physical was released about 6 weeks after digital, but am interested in the questions asked in post 1

 

I just saw that you can pre-order the physical version of TSW4 on Playstation 5 and Playstation 4 but not the Xbox version.
Does this mean that on Xbox there will be no physical version of TSW 4?

 

DTG JD Hi JD can i have confirmation that TSW 4 will not be released on Xbox in physical version, pre-orders on PS4 & 5 are available but impossible to find an Xbox physical version.

While physical editions are nice it seems to create havoc with the entitlements when the next version is released (with ever increasing frequency!) Can't physical editions basically consist of the physical box, the art etc plus codes to use in the relevent stores e.g. PS/Steam/Epic/Xbox so it feels like a physical edition but it is just a glorified digitial download?

 

I'm guessing that most people that get the physical edition do it because they got bad download speeds.
You get more for the same price buying the digital download.

 

For what i see for the moment (online retailer) only the PlayStation versions are entitled to a physical version with a release between the end of October and mid-November at the price of 45€ / 38£ / 48$.

If this is confirmed i find it a shame that we Xbox players be neglected.

 

Pre-ordering yes, but as long as you buy physical from an indie and not Amazon, Game etc in UK, they usually knock about a tenner off RRP

I always buy physical and never had any issues getting entitlements for the sequel, I just raised a ticket with DTG and added a piccy of my disc

Ta JD, looks like it matches what Inkar found on a Spanish site previously. I like the art cards, but it is a shame there's no deluxe edition for physical like there was for TSW2's various releases. Any chance of making a cheapish bundle of the extras in special edition? (Scotsman and the other thing)

 

Sorry, I meant a cheapish digital bundle (or "digital deluxe upgrade", as other publishers like to call them); eg. punter buys TSW3 standard but would like the content of deluxe at a later stage, so the bundle might be scotsman plus the other loco at a cost set as the difference between buying standard and digital outright

Regarding the challenge, I suspect the process would be similar to a regular bundle with a set price (in much the same way as the bundles for the mini addons like RHTT and the other two), but with a license requirement of owning TSW4 standard (disc or digital)

 

Ben does the Orange TGV still operate at all in France or is it in museums and scrapped now?

 

Unfortunately no, it's no longer operational, it can be seen in a museum at “La Cité du train” in France.
This is what the future TGV will look like, personally i still have a weakness for the good old orange TGV Sud-Est.

 

I think it was Mission Impossible that has the TGV Atlantique (but same model as Orange one) and put it on the map although as a kid I had the orange TGV for a OO or HO model railway set.

It is very James Bond-esque in the pointy shape of it. Can even picture Roger Moore behind the controls with Jaws behind him as his body guard LOL LOL

If it is ever to make TSW authentically I wonder if the 16 track sounds ( i suppose that was the medium to record back then?) is enough to convert to digital?

Won't have any problems with the 3d model. Maybe the physics unless we can find a driver somewhere?

Wonder if there is any full video footage or does it have to be purchased>?

 

Still no news for physical edition release ?
I can see we can pre order TSW4 physical on PS5,4 and PC on different online stores for the 27th october.
But can't find xbox, i know we have to wait for DTG confirmation but i'm starting to seriously worry about the xbox version.

 

DTG JD I just saw on the FAQ that it is confirmed that the box version will be released on November 17 and that there will be no pre-order but in Europe certain sellers can already offer it for pre-order.
I see the PlayStation 4 and 5 versions but not the Xbox version. Not having found the information on the FAQ, will the box version be released on Xbox in Europe?

 

well, too bad for me i guess.

 

Only 10 days to go for me then, managed to bag the PS5 version for a bargalicious £28.76
