This route deserves starting from scratch and doing properly. The original is too limited in its scope. As the OP says, branch lines (Passenger and Freight) need adding but North Downs Line needs to be separate. The original route is just too far behind everything else now. The same applies for East Coastway which needs the Wivelsfield branch added at the very least.
Tbh either restart from scratch or just improve it again. It should also branch off to Greenford, Heathrow, Windsor & Eton Central, Bourne End, Marlow and Henley. Whilst these routes may not be as popular worth adding it would atleast be good to never ever have to cover those sections again in the near future
a new timetable would be a nice update if they don't end up rebuilding the whole route. since it just feels so empty with the current one.
A total rebuild is needed. The freight branches to Brentford and Colnbrook are also essential additions as well as the Northolt branch. Perhaps a different year for the setting would be beneficial as 2015 was a weird limbo period. Either go fully diesel (pre 1995) or fully electrified (post 2018). Lastly, I think it imperative to bring the Class 165/1 & 180, particularly if the 2015 period is to remain. This would really make the route so much better than the present iteration, if these items could be implemented. As a local to this route and possibly its biggest fan, I will bang the drum for these improvements until DTG either state unequivocally that it will never happen, or we see the desperately needed changes.
Yeah Brentford and Colnbrook would be cool especially for if we ever get the North and West London Line (if you see my thread you'll know)
Heathrow unlikely to happen due to BAA wagging the security and licensing finger. Still reckon a late 80’s rebuild would be cool with an extension to Oxford and throw in the Class 50 and Class 117 DMU.
An extension to Oxford sounds great especially with Didcot Parkaay and T.C giving a purpose for some freight routes. Maybe one day a Reading - Exeter / Bristol?
You personally don't wish for them but this route and East Coastway lag so far behind the other routes at this point that they are drifting into obsolescence. GWE has never received a single realistic dlc, despite the fact that there are at least a few other types perfect for it. Beyond that, both routes are rather short by recent standards and could be vastly improved with the addition of the relevant branches on each as well as termini further from their current points. This in turn could see a new and more interested fan base with the potential profit this would bring. These routes would then finally be more in line with recent releases. It worked so well for SEHS with a rework to include more mileage as well as the myriad of dlc it received. I (and others) believe that there is a strong case for this to happen.
Swindon might be a bit ambitious but Oxford should be doable. At least the high speed services can be a little more like ECML.
Even though you and other people don’t want this there is also a group that do. And this applies for every DLC that has come out
If it truly is the case that DTG no longer have the First GWR licence, then perhaps it is the perfect excuse to rebuild the route during the earlier diesel only era (pre 1995). Failing that, a fully electrified period could work if they were to use a debranded version of the livery along the lines of Rivet Games Island Line 2022. Personally I would be happy for anything that would improve the route.
It is increasingly apparent that the current GWE is being left far behind at this point. When tsw2 was launched, the original NEC route was dropped as it was deemed incompatible in original form to carry over. Perhaps it is time to do the same with GWE and ECW in favour of rebuilt, extended and improved versions.
it’s just a rumour (a one that I can’t seem to find why it would come about), they haven’t officially confirmed that, but a mod in the roadmap stream did share that they’re was no news on that subject when I asked if they’re had been any changes to the GWR license or no news.
As good as GWE is, I much rather time were spent developing a completely new route than rebuilding GWE. Something in the south west such as the line via the Dawlish coast from Exeter to Plymouth and Paignton would be my preference for more GWR content.
It's a pretty boring route, but a ToDv4 overhaul would be appreciated. Though BML should be first, being the last Rush Hour route that's still using the old sky.
To my knowledge it hasn’t been, and neither have I seen anyone else say the same, so still rumour category until proof is provided.
i think its on one of theses streams : Train Sim World 4: One Special Day Charity Stream-A-Thon! (Day 1) or Train Sim World 4: One Special Day Charity Stream-A-Thon! (Day 2)
as good as those streams would have been, I know they will be about 10 hours each at the least from the title and ain’t going looking for GWR for 20 hours on a possibility. No proof stays a rumour.
Nah no point in that, all I think would be good is extra branchlines and an update (might as well prepare Crossrail portal if ever they have the license)
It's not our business to know which license are held and which aren't, IMO. If we knew definitely which were and wern't, I know for a fact there would be a group of players taking it on themselves to harass these companies for whatever reason to either secure or retract them. Seen it before on other games, and it never helps anyone.
I would like to see Reading to Leamington Spa ,plenty of freight as well as Cross Country passenger services.
Would love to see London-Swindon + Newbury / Taunton with branch lines to Heathrow and the other branches listed
Some of the short lines along the route too. Twyford to Henley-on-Thames Maidenhead to Marlow Slough to Windsor and Eton Central
West Ealing to Greenford Southall to Brentford Waste Terminal West Drayton to Thorney Mill and Colnbrook Reading to Basingstoke Perhaps even Old Oak Common to Northolt All desperately in need of adding for additional variety on GWE.
they said in their gameblast stream a couple months ago they could make a new route and they want to aswell
