I'd love this idea since they could technically just make Paris to Calais and then just lazily add the Channel Tunnel + Car shuttle however I doubt a licence would be available due to the Channel Tunnel
Euorstar won't give the licence for one, and for two it would be mostly tunnels. Don't know about anyone else, but I don't want to spend half an hour through the Channel Tunnel, and that's counting out the numerous other tunnels along the route.
Must agree, the Car shuttle sounds unique, but one would only ever drive it once and get bored, and Eurostar is practically the same experience as SEHS just 5 times longer
Also as much as I’d be up for the route, I doubt playing the full 2 1/2 hour journeys on the route would be very appealing to people…
gonna jump in their and say 2 1/2 hours is quite short tbh, you can spend that on American freight services already in game. Those are technically express aswell, they don’t stop till the end. Faster is more fun, so at least to me it’s a more appealing idea.
Okay, let's say Eurostar does give out this licence. Wouldn't DTG expand SEHS to include Dollands Moor and Temple Mills depot to prepare for the Eurostar route, and then make a new French line from Paris to Lille / Calais and then just simply connect the two and make Eurostar an DLC? (By DLC I mean the train since you'd just buy SEHS, the French High speed and then the Eurostar as an add-on)
The lack of a possibility of ever having a license makes this a very pointless hypothetical. Eurostar is a private company who are very controlling of their brand. They don't hand it out for others (i.e. DTG) to use. Ever. 1) No. 2) SEHS was never "extended", it was rebuilt. SEHS is done apart from potential new trains/layers, as jack#9468 says. Whilst a TGV Nord DLC would likely be very popular - Dovetail probably wouldn't make it just for the sake of Eurostar. So, in a nutshell, you'd have to buy the £30 SEHS, £30 TGV Nord, and a £15 Eurostar (including the channel tunnel, the most boring part of railway in Britain/France...). Not to mention that merger tech hasn't ever been tried in TSW, or extensions (in the case of SEHS). As I said, ignoring the lack of license is redundant. Without a license, there is no Eurostar. If there isn't a license, there is no discussion to be had.
assuming they would do the full Eurostar route (London - Paris) (they would probably split it in reality like ECML) it would highly likely be its own route but have scenery copied over from SEHS kinda like with NY Trenton. (No point making the same section twice) With regards to SEHS, it’s done until it’s got something new as with any route, Matt did say he wanted to move away from it, but doesn’t mean he locked it forever, it’s just not putting every dlc what comes out be focused on it. theirs also 3rd party content and a popular route like SEHS is probably appealing to make little packs for etc, and who knows how extension core tech may/will develop, a 3rd party may even want to do the Sheerness branch line or something with that.
Wont happen as eurostar own the rights to the branding and the stock without a license for both it cant be done.
Tbh I think the main issue here is the somewhat 200mile route to make but I would absolutely love it in TSW
I would also love it if they extended the LGV Meditterranee, maybe add a bit of KVB section to add variety
