Oh I am aware. But the user I quoted said the review of one person was harsh. If a person likes the game, that is fine. We just gotta respect a person's view and not label it a certain way just because some may not agree

On PS4 here but all medals are gone, also.

 

Just read some comments over on another thread, regarding some guys have lost the medals since the last update.

few lost medals is now a destroyed game, I guess I want to know what the people I’ve seen on here, who think medals and AP shouldn’t even be in the game think

personally I like the medals though a temporary set back is far fetched for destroyed game category.

 

I agree, though it's ridiculous how many times it has happened by now.

 

I believe one of the updates today was to do with AP, so likely an accident in that would explain how it happened in this case, the other similar issues seem a bit unexplained, though it is to do with Dovetail Live services which is probably a bit more complicated than what most people think a basic medal being recorded is.

 

I don't care about medals, I'm only here to drive trains.

 

Next time it could be an unrecoverable Journey progress reset. Personally I don’t look at medals or collectibles but finishing up Journey mode on a route is many, many hours of play time. If that went west, I wouldn’t have the will to start over.

 

every game has that kind of “if” with every single patch, bug and release, that “if” never just arrived so I doubt it’s that much of problem otherwise people wouldn’t play any game full stop.

 

Well DTG do seem to be dropping the ball rather a lot. Considering all the beta testers they recruited a few months ago, how does stuff like this slip the net? At times it does seem a rather amateurish operation, despite the high price of the content.

 

suppose same could be said for other companies like Bethesda and EA (known for bugs and other stuff) they seem in need of reform is the only answer I can provide.

Disgruntled employee sabotaging output is the charitable view.
The alternative is probably the less preferred option tbh.
We all love a bit of drama but the reality is I suppose that with a product as diverse as TSW, we can expect these little hiccups. Let's try an alternative mindset and accept that the leapard isn't going to change its spots. The foul ups add entertainment. Let's learn to embrace it

 

I think it’s a few people who used to work at EA, though definitely wouldn’t blame them for issues. Often issues come from management and schedules.

 

I wasn't saying that previously working at EA is a bad thing or something to blame everything on, it's just a funny coincidence, I don't think it's a bad thing especially because he was working for EA when they were still a good company

I would say a lot of game companies have issues if not all and someone who works in gaming sectors and have not kept same job forever are going to move about them and end up in others.

 

It doesn't get missed, it gets flagged by the testers and ignored by the developer.

 

Not a surprise that the CEO of DTG is a marketing person, not a surprise at all, indeed it explains an awful lot. Like why its the only aspect of designing, building and launching a product they seem to care about. Hype a release, then straight onto hyping the next release, yeah that figures I guess...

 

And re-release the content regulary, so people don't see negative steam reviews anymore for example.

Bugs and problems are forever forgoten, as no one is able to see the old reviews, nice!

 

I would like to think this is not intentional from their part, simply the technical result of re-releasing the same thing over and over again. Still pretty annoying.

The key word here is train SIM word. This word carry a heavy burden of fundamental simulation conditions. TSW is generally "god mode game" (no speed derailment, no breakdowns, no broken couplers and so on) It is like playing airplane simulation without stalling, crashing or failures (I wonder the reviews of such game). Instead we are given trinkets like collectibles or photomode. My logic is cruel but honest.

 

There are games that use the word sim that are not realistic and games that don't have sim but are realistic. Of course some games with sim can be realistic as well.

Train life: railway sim is a tycoon manager and arcade game that's fictional.

Diesel railway simulator: it might have realistic trains but the world is fictional.

Zusi doesn't have sim in but it's realistic.

 

ZuSi = Zug Simulator / Train Simulator ;-)

 

so by how you judge it, if DTG changed the name to Train World you would change all reviews ?

 

I'm not sure reviews are necessary at this point. The reputation is pretty well established now..

DTG still consider feedback quite extensively from what I’ve seen, customers can often base a decision to purchase off such things, especially when they are undecided or not purchased such a product before.

 

I know. I was being facetious. I based my purchasing (or lack thereof) on the useful feedback provided on this forum.

yes, I play TSW4, I tried not long ago but don’t think I could play TSW founders edition again nowadays.

they often set up areas to gather it, quite often things come up about how feedback got something to change, I see official responses to Q&A and some peoples Xbox reviews, Developers and Community Managers responding to questions, and other stuff.

 

Interesting, I don't feel this way. Besides from some "shiny" moments I feel we are mostly left alone.

 

not sure what you mean by left alone ? DLC’s are quite the factory for releases, and I wouldn’t call for that to be quicker.

 

I meant that I don't see that general feedback is not considered quiet extensivley as you have written, I thought you mean general feedback here, wishes for features etc. If you see that for "what shiny route next" that maybe a different story.

 

No I was referring to feedback as in reviews and recommendations, not suggestions.

 

Can't see that as well. I'm on PC / Steam so I've never read any Microsoft Store review for TSW, maybe it is different their. But only that the same mistakes are done over and over again and people in reviews always go over the same stuff and repeat what is wrong with certain things, doesn't give me the feeling that this feedback is considered.

Things do not change, not for old or for new content in many cases so...I don't know.

edit; responses are better now than originally, when I first started TSW with founders I never found any kind of communication like their is now, every so often a dlc came out and that’s all I saw. I found the forums after being recommended to visit by DTG protagonist in the TSW2 announcement stream.

Didn't want to be specific, I was just interested in your thoughts. Views are different, everyone of us does have different priorities. I'm not that kind of guy who has currently any wishes for features, additions etc. I'd just be happy if the current quality of content would be as expected.

 

I meant bugs not new route suggestions of course, you seemed to be having particular difficulty with at least one bug .

 

Well...their is tons of bugs and problems I would like to get sorted out of the game and content. See November Q&A Thread for example, but their is other stuff as well. Doesn't make sense to repeat it over and over again. Not because I don't like to repeat it to you, but it has been raised in several occasions already from me and other people.

That's also the reason why I would wish for something like a bugtracker.

For you the Z-Fighting issue is top priority as far as I understand. As this is as I understood you a problem dating back to TSW2 Rush Hour release for example. I don't see DTG considering feedback really. This is a 2+ year old problem which has not been fixed since, but can also be found in new content. So it didn't get better, but it got worse.

On the other hand if this would be something you raised lately with TSW4 release it would also shed a bad light on DTG Q&A. I know they confirmed this issue in the Roadmap stream, but as it is old they should have already took note of it or better have fixed it and not multiply it.

That's the problem. Left Rhine for example had been released in March this year, I have to consider it "legacy" content from DTG by now, so nothing will be fixed eventually. I love this route, but it is very annoying for me that we still have PZB / Signal bugs and some wrong placed signs for speed. Might not be a priority for many people, but for me who likes to drive without HUD and knows how PZB has to be used it makes me mad regulary.

So in the November Q&A when Alex posted the list of things which is on their list to fix this issue was raised as well and confirmed to be still on their list. Will it be fixed? We will see. But having a tracker of what is on their list to be worked on would help in not raising the same issues over and over again just to get sure DTG takes note of it.

Raising a ticket is also nice, but doesn't give other people information about it is noted or not. Just the person who opened the ticket takes note of it.

 

Also I believe the update has messed up the mastery challenges as it doesnt seem to progress with after i did an hour long journey on the kassel route sounds kinda pointless it didnt update plus the island line mastery reward isnt in the rewards section

 

DTG has stated that licensors absolutely do not want things like derailments happening. Even seemingly small things like weathering can be verboten. I also doubt it was a coincidence that on my freight train pulled by a CSX engine, every branded car was also CSX.

Basically, the license conditions can be very strict about what can and can't happen in-game.

 

So, simply:
> Dovetail push out a patch containing what they have fixes for at this moment in time

I'm pretty sure no train company would give DTG a license if breakdowns were in TSW. That would create negative press for the company giving out the license.

 

Breakdowns, Coupler failures, and other irregular events are simulated (kind of) in Scenarios. That's where they belong.

If you want derailments, say goodbye to any and all authentic trains.

 

My only issue is, they broke the editor with the update.

 

Well TSW does advertise the game as being an "Authentic Recreation of Routes and Trains from Around the World." DTG set the expectations themselves
