    Hi all,
Guess there's nothing worse than an "older guy" newbie who has reached that time in his life when he wants to buy his first games console (Xbox Series X) and immerse himself in simulator games (TSW4 and Flight Simulator).
Even having read the blurb about purchasing TSW4 for Xbox, I just don't quite understand how the purchase/registration/download process works. Sorry if that sounds stupid but can someone explain in simple terms what I will physically get if, for instance, I go out to the shops on Black Friday and buy TSW4 Special Edition for £80 (or whatever it is)? How do I then get TSW4 downloaded onto the Xbox ?
My other question is this. I know what's included in each edition but do I then need to pay extra again for each new feature that comes out according to the 2023/24 roadmap ? For instance, suppose I wanted the new Blackpool route - is that extra ?
Sorry for the stupid questions, and thanks in advance.

Any dlc you see (route, loco) is all paid dlc. It will drain your wallet real quickly if you buy everything so only get what you want or wait for sales.

Yes Blackpool is extra £29.99 as this is classed as.a dlc generally speaking tsw updates are free but the dlc is always paid for content outside of your initial tsw game purchase hope this helps

Understood - maybe TSW4 Special Edition is overkill for now. Thanks

Would you be buying a physical copy or a digital one. Either way, you will probably have made or be making an Xbox Live/Microsoft account and this will be essential for the process. If you've bought the disc, pop it in and everything will be installed and sorted automatically. If you buy a digital copy, I assume this would be on the Microsoft Store online or on the store that's built-in to the Xbox. If it's the latter, the game will be downloaded automatically once bought, but if you buy it online you'll need to head into the My Games and Apps page to set it to download onto your console.

    Hi,
Thanks for the reply. In answer to your question, I'm likely to be buying both TSW4 and MS Flight Simulator before Cyber Monday comes around as there are some decent Black Friday discounts out there. It's way more likely I'll be buying digital copies online from the Xbox store (I decided to create myself an Xbox account a few days ago in advance of buying my Xbox Series X). I'm presuming that's the safest route - I've seen the odd horror story elsewhere about buying games (probably from dubious sources, I guess) where the console then cannot find the purchase or refuses to download it. Being new to this, I just don't want that to happen to me!

You'll have a lot of fun with Microsoft Flight Simulator. Enjoy!

Hey - welcome to the community!

If you do decide to grab TSW4 on Xbox, here's a quick guide on getting your content downloaded for it (it's perhaps not the most intuitive process): https://dovetailgames.freshdesk.com...ed-with-train-sim-world-4#Xbox-One/Series-S|X)
