Forum Police

There are to many people trying to police these forums.
I stopped giving any help on another train forum because of this attitude on the part of some members
Some of the posts in these forums do not provide any help to anyone.
My posts have provided information that are of use .
I do not post very often and I do not Police others.

 

Idk what your issue is on the forums. in the end we just try to help people, but if you don't respect the rules and forum structures we (or they, DTG) set up, then we cannot help you but point the way, but if you don't respect THAT either, then it's up to you, honestly

name some examples please because I genuinely have no idea what you are talking about

 

A fact of internet and forum life is that you will get some people who feel they have a right to be self appointed moderators, or their view is the only one and act like lawyers in a keyboard courtroom. You can either humour them, or put them on your ignore list.

 

Do you have one thread or post in particular ? Personally I won’t care if they’re not mods if that bother you.

You didn't really need to repeat your OP and that's not policing, just stating a fact.

And further to my response above if you feel someone has breached the CoC in a response to you then report to the mods and don't exacerbate the situation.

Here’s a link to the thread I imagine the OP will be referring to, policing the forums has a very different meaning in my view.

personally I thought the OP in that thread may have had something helpful to share with others, I just recommend making it easier for others to see that, they were under no obligation to listen to me at any point.

 

Honestly, what even is the purpose of this thread? It seems completely useless and totally counterproductive. I see members helping out other members on here daily. Providing feedback on DLC, whether it is negative or not is not policing. Calling out other members for poor forum etiquette is informational and meant to correct bad habits, not policing. Calling out DTG on poor decisions they’ve made or stating truth and fact, considering we’re the paying customers of their product so we are within our right to do that, is NOT policing.

Making an entire thread to tell everyone that too many people “police these forums” is quite literally policing the forums yourself. Do you really think that many people are concerned that you do it that you have to repeat yourself numerous times stating that you do not police the forums? Then tell us “end of subject!!!” implying almost that you don’t want anyone else to respond about it. Sorry but this thread SCREAMS policing when you literally tried to state too many others do it and that you don’t.

No one is forcing you to stay on these forums so if you’re bothered by the activity that takes place on here, maybe don’t visit. Or take a break from it.

This thread should have never been posted in the first place. Can we get back to the trains now?

don’t tell them that, that will be policing them, you can’t give advice/recommendation to change to help something, that’s how this this thread seems to have started

Not wanting to police, but the thread is likely to become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

 

I see it being locked already honestly

 

I would recommend a lock to prevent it overheating but I’ve been in detention enough for recommendations, so I’ll try stay quiet about it now

It honestly needs to be locked and then just deleted as it is a completely and utterly useless thread.
