Hello. I’ve started this thread as I am looking for someone to help with a project on rolling stock on this and possibly any future projects regarding rolling stock. But am struggling to find someone even tho I know there are some great users out there creating fantastic artistic content. So I am trying to reach out and find someone to partner up with. The current project is What if BR test liveries for A3 which is complete and two Class 66 which are also completed but not the rolling stock. As you will see from a the test pictures what I am trying to achieve and to be honest I think it works okay. To see if I could get a old design to work in different settings and eras. So 1950’ and recent with newer locos. Still in development. So if anyone can or would like to get involved in this project as I really do like the these liveries and I don’t want to let the project down for I just haven’t really got the time or heart to work on the rolling stock so hopefully by doing this it will give those interested the opportunity to get involved in this and any other ideas or projects. Please drop me a message or like and leave a comment if you are interested or would like to see more of these projects. Thanks. (TSLP)
Well that went down like a lead balloon. Anyway I thought I’d just update this BR test livery project that started with the A3 and old BR concepts. All locos seen below are now complete and are ready for uploading,,,but I will still hold off as I now have over commitments now with the Class 801 livery and to keep the offer open especially due the recent knock on effects. So I am still looking for creators club users that specialises in liveries only,,,as I know with locos it can be drawn out. I am unaware of the time it takes for some members on CC that focus on just rolling stock to make there master pieces so that would be interesting just on its own. I have seen a guy that does US stock mostly and my life that’s some art/graffiti going on and is truly amazing,,,to be fair has me scratching my head on how he does them. So yes finished the 3 liveries,,,but now placed on hold until either someone contacts or I find the time to complete rolling stock myself as I may take some time off lol. Below is A3 66103 “Flying Scotsman”, then a Class 66 072 “The Scotsman Guardian” followed last by 66 073 “Desert Orchid” (TSLP)
Interesting, I have just finished my latest livery and looking for a new livery to do. What other locos are you thinking about wanting in this sort of livery?
Hi Matt,,thanks for commenting about this. To be honest I was only limiting the project down to just the 3 liveries really as it was only meant to be two. Them being an A3 and the “The Scotsman Guardian” 66 072 as a support unit on excursion etc. 66 073 Was just an experiment working with different logos of mine and as another back up if ever 66 073 was down. The Problem really was around a week ago or so. I was asked to make some liveries for a user on here but by doing so it delayed many liveries. As it wasn’t planned, and plus I have work coming out my ears I can’t keep up if my own demands and work sometime suffers to get it out on time. IE give the livery the time they need to be correctly prepared and placed up or they will end up having something over looked. I know they will so time is very important as I am sure it is for you when devoting time to a project and this is the problem and why I was and could say still am looking for someone to help or assist in putting work out. I don’t have time and hopefully by asking for help I’d be giving someone an opportunity to show of there work along side my and assist each other during the development stages right through to final completion. It doesn’t help either that I am not want you would call a proper train enthusiast so maybe having someone on board with that experience can assist in then providing highly accurate liveries by providing that sort of background information for when I am doing my part making the livery. Again why I have been desperately looking for someone like this who may have time and would love to share there knowledge on the accuracy of some of the work I am doing by doing what they have a passion for. As like I always say I love making liveries I can’t stop lol,,,but I make them for myself and for use on CC so by again having that assistance will allow me and user in the community to make something truly unique and most of all be accurately presented. I know it easy to upset rail fans so I am aware of historical facts that surround work like say Flying Scotsman. So yes I be gone on a tangent again but yes I was looking for someone to help with completion of the rolling stock as again I have no knowledge of rolling stock and I wanted them to have all UIC codes etc even tho with steam theses UIC codes don’t exist as Whythe Notation is used so would like all this information to be on the rolling stock. This I need help with so if this is something you could help with that would be truly amazing especially working with a great producer of work your self and who’s work I greatly respect and admire. Do you your self have any ideas of what could be done as joint project? as I am trying to get a weathered look project started so maybe I/We could get that off the ground?. We could even look at something along the lines of something working along side the A4 Heritage Fleet Project I’ve devoted time too. So I think I’ve gone on enough as I usually do but just wanted to try give you some insight in to what I am looking for and what I would like to try offer someone that opportunity to share what they love doing too when it comes to talking about trains. I have someone in my family who’s been working from BR management across the 80 and 90s and even friends with Mr Waterman from back in his day as I’ve meet him a few times in my young days on trips to an old work shop but we don’t get on really so would again be great to find someone to help with background knowledge of the UK networks old and new. Thank you for responding and I truly appreciate your time on these matters Matt. Lee. (TSLP).
Yes, as I say I have finished my last project and I tend to find that thinking of ideas for a project usually takes longer than the project itself, so would be more than happy to work with you on bits as I do enjoy making liveries and some days just can't face anymore driving after I've finished, even if it is in a sim! On the real railway knowledge, I may also be of help there as I have been on the railway since I were 16 so have a fair bit of knowledge built up. Sounds good mate.
Hi Matt sorry for late response I didn’t think I’d hear back so soon and also been busy. I tend to go into a zone where hours can just fly by so please accept my apologies. I perfectly understand what your saying and I think like me your addiction to liveries and rail in general takes over. Soon as I have done one the next is not far behind so if I am not making liveries then I’ll either be watching BTF or reading up on articles about paints or when locos did or didn’t have certain numbers or lining etc etc. And just think this all started off from watching Matts plays on YouTube I bought TSW and never stopped until that time I deleted all my work from CC. And while I am here about work you may like some of these that never made it on to CC. Here are one or two that could be re worked again as these was done a long time ago. So yes I understand and we can most certainly do something together as I am never short of ideas. Some just takes ages to get done,,,like a White Star Line livery as TITANIC of the Olympic Class liners built at Harland & Wolff Belfast was one of my first marvels as a child I was obsessed. But most work never gets done due to the complexity of the design and due to low decals the livery wouldn’t have been right so again they get put on hold or never see the light of day. Plus if I see that someone has done something along the line of what I had planned I tend to hold off as I don’t want to seem like I copy others work. I feel stupid saying this to you too but I think it all depends on your knowledge of other areas of transportation or historical events. What I mean is being involved with say Ships or Planes or charities I even thing about rocks bands with something themed around named locos as I love TheWho and I have done a Who Livery but due to copyright reasons is not placed up. I’m not paying to speak to his manager as mush as I’d love to get Peter Townsend involved lol,,I could try other means but my anxiety issues hold me back. Because when it comes to ideas I have too many I really do and I try implementing some of my own hobbies or what I feel some may like that hold some form or importance be that to the standard blue and greens of BR or something like what I am doing with the A4 Heritage Project,,,I run with it. There real is a vast amount of ideas out there it’s either down to copyright licensing or my anxiety in producing something I that may infringe on that as with fictional work I get nervous. So I am always aware of this and to respect the reputation of companies used and what light they want to be seen and represented in. It’s a way for me to do what I love and share some of my passions while trying to tastefully blend them into the railway scene. As again its a way for me to do what I love from a creative perspective as okay I can do the standard liveries of BR but I know there is plenty out there that have done great work regarding this including your good self. So if you look at it from like a business perspective then the market is flooded. Why try compete and more so when the work done is to a high standard. Another reason why I started was because some work in the early days was in my opinion not perfect and by no means I am I saying my work is perfect all the time. What I mean is in the early days I was getting into making liveries so wanted to push my limits and give users something of quality in liveries as again I am aware of how difficult it is to please rail enthusiasts,,plus a little part of my OCD kicks in. But that’s done now,,,there is great work produced by others so why step into that market or get involved in something that would only take me longer to create due to not having much background knowledge. So why not find and develop a new niche by giving user something different?. For this then becomes a way for me to create something with my skill set and the knowledge I already have so thus takes less time to produce. I move forward with passion and enthusiasm then as I am not doing work like BR stuff as why commit time to this area when that boat has moved on. But that’s not to say nothing can be done on that front when it comes to new projects or opportunities. There’s always new challenges and opportunities you just need to know where to look and again use what knowledge you already have. For I respect you greatly for you mention you have worked on the railways since the age of 16 so I just want you to know from a lad that loves making liveries and being converted in to a train spotter,,,I spent 2hrs last night watching the Class 68 what I lovely sound,,shame they leave the network in December after 4 years service. Then I hope I speak in a manner that respects your background and knowledge we could probably put to could good use. I mean I have this family member who himself like you has worked on the rail railway since 16 you may even know him who knows as he worked from Warrington Bank Quay and then moved to Carlisle and worked for DRS out of Kingsmoore TMD. He also was a manager at Wigan Springs Branch,,and various other sites up at Carnforth. We don’t always see eye to eye like but he does give information I need. Like ref to 47s used at BNFL at Salwick,Wyre docks at Fleetwood. I’m looking at what was based in and out of that area ref to DMU like the Class 101/105 and later the Class 142/150 for the Blackpool branch line. But as you can see time is now devoted to the A4 Project due to the time and complexity of making them. So maybe if it’s something your interested at doing then you can take it off my hands so then you can work on something your interested in and give users the real units that was working on them lines for historical purposes. Well I think I’ve droned on enough and don’t worry once you get to know me I am not such a tight arse sounding person I tend to come across as. I’d like to think I am pretty easy to get on with and if we work together I’ll be very critical of work that’s my OCD and from my engineering days I was trained to iron out problems in design and fabrication of work on site. But to work together,,,work over ideas based on your own ideas and background knowledge built in with some of my ideas and artistic flair,,to hopefully succeed in building a great partnership moving forward by sharing our love and passion be that BR or Fictional liveries paying homage to say the last Boing 747 ever built. The list is endless and I am so grateful someone of your talent has answered my calls for help to assist in creating and sharing great work made with passion for what they love and to share with others with great pride and dedication of there abilities for the TSW community enjoyment. Your more than welcome to DM so we can discuss further details about getting a project of the ground,,play around with a few off the top of the head ideas and see what comes of it. Right well I’ll be off but I’d just like to take this opportunity to again thank you for responding and to apologise for my late response and long reply. So yes this news is fine by me mate Thank you. Lee.
Hi Matt I’ve just been thinking about something that could be interesting and possibly be implemented across the game for others to participate like a competition as everyone likes a little bit of healthy competition and a bit of fun. Especially if you could win a DLC. Allow me to explain,,,now obviously we’re playing around here but my original thoughts was we could set ourselves a little project and see what we both came up with. But then I thought you could even do a poll on what the community would like to be done by you and by me. This way we are in partnership yet if you like your more knowledgeable than me on here so if you wish you could run with and explain the joint project between us for it would be interesting to see what the community outlines for us in the poll where we have to go away and think of something. Again just a bit of fun but gives us something new and challenging. It helps with you wanting to find work or new projects test your skill and my skill while involving the wider community. But then I thought why stop there. Why not get DTG involved?. Again allow me to explain and hopefully someone from DTG reads this as feel it’s a great way to get the community involved and away for DTG give something back to those users that spend hours and hours on their projects and work. (Nudge Nudge Wink Wink,,,ya know what I mean?) haha. Now DTG already do something along this lines with say the community screen shots, yet am not aware of them doing this so is why I feel is a great idea for both fans and DTG to build a new better relationship between the CC community and image for DTG with sometimes is strained relationship with older hardcore fans. So why not have a poll set out by DTG in a poll where editors have to create something set out by the rules and then let’s say this competition is once a month so the results will be in after the competition is over and then polls on which is best by the community to be deemed winner for that month. As insensitive and reward DTG will award the winner a DLC of his choice. Again a great way for the community to get involved more by sharing their creativity sides and a way of that user getting his hands on a DLC he wished he had but couldn’t afford it,,,build his collections to get involved with more projects as the year went on. You could even take it a step further and say at the end of the year the top 3 will win the chance to go to DTG or even have one of there liveries made by DTG. Because something that just popped into my head for something for us to do has snowballed as it usually does with me into something more. I really do feel if DTG want to move forward in a more modern dynamic direction then possibly with a online rank system or keeping a community more in touch with each other in a fun way by utilising the CC and editing marketing strategy then will naturally play along side this business model and approach I think DTG are going down but could be done with more emphasis and focus when building and increasing the community or customer’s experience. Because I have said before and yes my wording may have not been the best but being realistic here and from a business model prospect it’s all about sales. There are options out there for the mod community and loads of other packets on steam available etc etc. Is and was TSW on console all about finding a balance by the management at DTG in pleasing the older hardcore fans of the railway scene and then bring in newer younger players by introducing a more modern style to its advertising to survive or boost sales. To shake of the stuffy look and move forward with a more fresh modern line up of DLCs. I don’t know but I’ve gone off the point on just a simple idea. I’ll blame you for this Matt my mind is thinking of all sorts now,,yet you could say all this is just a delusional idea from a crack pot like me. I’ll go hide under my rock again. Lee.
Hi mate, it's no sweat, time can really fly sometimes! Yes I think it very much is an addiction, I spend the majority of one of my breaks today just looking at pictures of pacers to see what I can improve on the livery, which I can put out until they fix the issue preventing it. Some good looking pieces there mate! All my liveries so far have been made because I couldn't find the liveries I wanted, whether that be due to there not being any (e.g. FGW Power cars with GWR coaches) or the poor search feature didn't show the other results (e.g. the BR Express Blue A3) so there is a hefty amount of passion. The liveries you see seem to get better by the week so it is a very crowded market, so better to find a niche/lesser represented livery and do it bloody well, than do more common ones at a mediocre standard. Personally I only have British DLC and when making liveries I like to have some sort of plausible story, such as the A3, or Dave's what if series, or your A4 series (which I really like!), or actually the stuff you have done on here too. I have always worked in the East, apart from when I started driving which took me to the East Midlands for a few year so I don't think I'd know your family member if he's always been in the NW. The 68s really are noisy buggers, though beautiful machines which I would like to get my hands on at some point, so is a shame to see them leaving TPE. As I say that A4 project is brilliant, really admirable designs, and you have certainly got a great foundations set out there! You do seem like a real gooden', so I do hope we'll be able to combine our skillsets and knowledge to make some good stuff.
That is certainly an interesting idea, I think I saw someone suggest a creators club competition type thing a couple of months ago but it didn't gain much traction, but certainly would be interesting to look into. Actually I think DTG used to do something like this in TSW2, so the idea is definitely about. I'll take the blame on this one, though as seen above the idea isn't quite as barmy as you may have thought!
