On BR 103 when it gets moving it suddenly loses power and then does absolutely nothing after coming to a stop. I tried combinations of transformer switch on or of which seems to have no effect as it was in the off position to begin with, then resetting MCB but that does absolutely nothing. There is no manual on this except the one from 2017 which has no mention of any power cut procedure. There is power to auxiliary equipment as the pump is running but there is no traction power. What am I supposed to do with this?

Edit: The OBD screen is also showing absolutely nothing and will not turn on, so it is impossible to see traction current. There is also no way to turn on passenger lights as the cabinets are unopenable.

It is known that the DB BR 103 cuts out the power if you turn the power-tap up too fast. To prevent motor damage of the too high Amps.

In this case, you have to return the power-tap to 0 and close your MCB.
I see you already tried to close your MCB, but was your power-tap in the 0 position?

    Hope this helps...

I don't understand how it would cause damage to the engine as there isn't one. Tap is set to 0 and directional lever in neutral, what is the transformer switch for?

They're referring to the transformer/motor as the engine, VCB will open to prevent overcurrent on the transformer/motor.

Did you have transformer on by any chance? That's the only way the 103 can overload if you leave it on for too long. Turn it off, throttle to 0 and close mcb and see if it works

Applying too much power at once only applies for the 110 from what I've read and saw on YouTube.

How is it supposed to move without the transformer powered on?

For the 103, the transformer acts as a way to apply more power, so you get more acceleration. The loco has power without the transformer. However, if it is turned on for 2 minutes, it overloads the engine. It is explained in the tutorial and in the preview livestream for the route. The transformer is not the transformer you are thinking of.

As I understand it, the transformer is on anyway. What the switch does is give it extra power, which can lead to problems.

Seems to work fine. Have you put reverser to forward, inserted brake key and released brakes.

Pantograph up, MCB closed, reverser forward, brakes released (train pipe 5 bar, straight air 0), rheostatic brake off, handbrake off, still not moving.

Selector on the right side of the wheel needs to be at "nachlaufsteuerung"

I have tried again using this 103 and it will not move even at start, I followed procedure to start it but it will not move at all. As usual information on these is restricted.

Did you insert the Brake Key and turned it on? It's a bit hidden:

I seem to get black screen in the finished video despite the TSW (TSW prototype) box being selected as visible in OBS, it worked with TSW 3 along with all previous versions but won't recognise it anymore. I don't know if I need an added license to use it with newer versions of Unreal but it will recognise every other window. The only other cause is if my GPU is failing as I have noticed it freezing for 30-60 seconds in TSW 4 as well as ETS 2 (typically when a menu is opened after a while without it).

I got that. I have the brake in running, 5 bar in the brake pipe, 0.0 in the brake cylinder (often 0.1 after a while), 9.8 in the reservoir, the dynamic/rheostatic brake is off. I noticed today when I didn't have any video playing in the background, I could hear the first click on the tap-changer then a clunk (not the loud MCB clunk), there was a slight current draw initially in 1 but not notch 2 every other notch was 0 amps but the tap-changer was still audible until the next time I was in notch 0, after which the tap changer is no longer audible. I tried opening and closing the MCB which causes the quieter fans to turn off and on as well as the transformer buzzing (which oddly sounds like those on a newer EMU with IGBT control equipment) but this has no effect and the tap changer is not working.

do you have this auxiliary control set as trail (as highlighted in pic), I changed it once for one of my services thinking trail wasn’t right but couldn’t go anywhere because of that, as far as I know it needs to stay in trail for at least the lead cab/loco

It is whatever the default setting is, I have not touched that, I didn't even know it had an auxiliary control as it would not work with the 463 driving trailer when I tried it.

The auxiliary control has nothing to do with a cab car. It’s just there in case the automatic tap changer fails. The same switch was also used to toggle on the AFB the 103s had before it was disabled/removed.

Couldn’t you use the XBox-game-bar-thingy or something else to record? I’m at a loss as to what’s happening on your end without actually seeing what’s going on.

I'm having the same issue, no blown MCB, not even using the transformer in fear of it overheating but the stupid train refuses to take power, I've had enough of it!

Same as above - could you record a video for us? The 103 has no problem on my end. Troubleshooting is a tad difficult with this lack of information. Is some traction lock (check HUD) still in place?

This switch is used to select the method the loco is controlled and additionally a backup tap changer control. Standard ist "Trail" (Nachlaufsteuerung) where you select a tap with the throttle wheel and the control mechanism tries to reach that tap along other parameters like slip and such. It's a indirect control of the tap changer. Then there is the "automatic" what is basically AFB and not implemented in the loco as this was no longer allowed to use at all. The other positions are for changing taps manually and more direct. A backup for when the trailing mechanism has a fault. With the direct control you also can easily overload the loco as with the 110. It works in game too but there is no need to use it because there are no faults simulated.

No idea why the loco is not moving. Maybe spawned in free roam? There is that cause where no voltage is reaching the loco. Simply lower the panto once, raise it again, switch on MCB and it should work then.
