The Most Under Rated Route Of 2023

I just got the New York Trenton route (I also have it in TSC (with the branch) but I don't use TSC it is too out dated for me) and wow this route is silky smooth, optimized and gorgeous!

I acknowledge it had a few issues but I surmise it was similar to Midland Mainline in terms of timetables and a few minor issues (cosmetic like bridges in MML were not 'perfect') although it-NY Trenton- was having performance issues unlike MML.

It was silky smooth at New York Penn. So the update was recent I believe.

But this has to the most under-rated route of 2022-2023!

The bridges are amazing-the scenery!!!

Similar to Dresden Riesa where Dresden's buildings go forever like Tokyo....

A big thumbs up from me and the safety systems work perfectly! Signals look amazing and perfect!

 

Also I do note there are no passengers at stations still. I believe it will be fixed shortly.

If it still has issues that aren't core related, then I'd say its an overrated route.

At least you enjoy it, I suppose.

 

In one of the screenshots you've provided, you can literally see the landscape leaking onto the road. Hardly a sign of quality, right?

 

Well according to OP, there are no signalling issues & no performance issues. They’re obviously playing a different game to everyone else, so we can’t really compare.

Safety systems doesn’t work properly and at Penn station it’s a huge mess with around 10 fps, yes I’m on PS5. I guess according to the OP, the BR187 is a masterpiece with amazing sounds. Personally I gave up hopping for fixes on Trenton and MML, we’ve been lied so much with broken promises. Only JT at the moment released a superb DLC recently…

 

Having played many services on the new timetable on Xbox X and PC steam ,I think I can give you my honest opinion of this route. Since Joe updated the new timetable and DTG fixed the performence issues of PC, I can tell is a route I have lots of enjoyment and frustrations. It's my most played route this year. It has lots of variety of locos, services, from 7 minutes to 1:45 minutes service. I even made a timelapse video of the route that captures the busy timetable.With that being said, this DLC has lots of issues( I've attached my previous feedback on the route which is keeping this from reaching it's potential. Lot's of services you can't finished do to stuck trains.bad signaling, Ai train alerters going off constatly. ALP46 trains trailing with headlights on, no AI drivers, Interior lights not on during the day,unable to take over many AI trains, no working passengers, scenery issues, too many to list. I've tried to give lots of information and feedback to hopefully help DTG and other players have a better playing experience. I've a list of services to avoid so the players don't waste their time Let's hope that DTG keeps on working out the issues. *Signalling
The AI don't obey or don't have them implemented as they seemed not affected. Inconsistency, inappropriate progressions, approach limited 45 before Cab Speed 80 between Metropark and Rahway, the phantom drop to Approach Limited 45 between New Brunswick and Edison, progressing all the way down to a restricted aspect upon entering Metropark, only to jump right back to Clear as soon as I made the station stop. The numerous drops in the tunnel approaching NY Penn. The restricted aspect upon entering Trenton. The penalty brakes as you enter Trenton, Newark Penn, Newark airport stations.

*Players still can't take over some AI trains outside Penn and Trenton stations. Even using the I’m stuck reset simulation physics” doesn’t work. below are clips demonstrating the issue on several free roam sessions

Naaah I defend OP for his positivity on others threads but here it's straight up trolling... Maybe you really like the route and that's fine, the route IRL is incredible. (Who doesn't love an Acela at 150mph?). But saying it's "Optimized and smooth" or that the safety systems are working perfectly is simply lying.

I agree. There's nothing wrong with being positive or liking a route that others don't, but the line is crossed when you turn a blind eye to any and all issues a route/loco has.

I too am having fun with the updated NYT, but I'm not oblivious to its continuing issues. The OP is way OTT, as usual.

 

Both NEC NY-Trenton and Linke Rheinstrecke are severely discounted on PlayStation right now. Seriously thinking about getting one of them. Is Trenton really still so unplayable? Linke Rheinstrecke certainly seems like a well-rounded route and would allow me to stretch the legs of the BR 628 a bit!
Preston-Blackpool is obviously a gem, and Maintalbahn seems decent as well, but I’m not prepared to pay full price. Recently got F1 23 for 30€, and it just made me appreciate I was able to get a full game for a cheaper price than a singular TSW add-on.

 

Honetly i have been playing NYT nonstop even with all the issues I listed. Performamce I'm happy to say is good on PC steam and Xbox X.

I bought Trenton and honestly it's pretty LOVE, scenery is mediocre, NY Penn completely tanks your frames, barely any passengers to be seen at stations. I would say avoid this one.

I was thinking about getting Linke Rheinstrecke but I don't know nothing about that route really appeals to me.

Yeah it is a good route, despite it's rough release. The last patch has it in a better state than ever.

There's are a few more issues that need ironing out.
-You can hear the alerter from AI trains as they pass by
-Traffic jam issues in Penn Station for NY bound services
-The signals south of Metropark seem really over cautious, checking trains down for the junction 5 miles outside of the station.

If those get fixed it would be a perfect US route for me.

 

Either I missed the patch notes or this user has not been to TSW (NY Trenton) NY Penn…

 

The OP did not ask anyone else to enjoy it, they just stated that they enjoyed it. Some of us dont find fault like there is a reward for it

I agree there have been issues and that is fine if that is a stopper for some people but it is not a stopper for everyone

 

The OP claimed it to be the most underrated route of 2023 & that the issues which plague do not exist.

I have no grudge against people who don’t mind issues that others see, but saying things like the signalling works fine & NYP is silky smooth is just a flat out lie.

 

I enjoy the route, but I have no reason to deny theirs major issues, particularly more so than quite a few others with this route.

 

Linke Rheinstrecke has passengers, castles and leaves. Amazing details! Very scenic along the River Rheine! If you know PZB an extra challenge too. The German stuff seems more robust but it doesn't mean you will like it. That is for you to decide.

But NY Trenton also has a high level of detail especially if you saw the original Sand Patch route and Northern Trans Penine (still needs a preservation crew scenery update).

Missing passengers-I think it is a minor trade off as it seems a large route and also quite a few areas with large scenery. I think it will be fixed but I am glad to see the performance issues were fixed as it runs silky smooth!

I am just giving my first look review on it and it seems very good. While it can be buggy and they will be fixed slowly, it is very enjoyable.

hi, sorry to bother you but do you know how to make the horn high and low tone together on console?

 

You hold “SQUARE” for PlayStation and “X” for Xbox, then at the same time you press the horn with the left joystick to have the second horn tone.

 

The first service I did with the 64 I got all the way from Penn to Trenton. And I had lots of ACSS penalties (similar to PZB) which were my fault LOL also can highly recommend Linke Rheinstrecke it is very impressive. See my other reply.
The stations have leaves falling in Rheinstrecke....

Tip:

Go to suppression for a penalty and slow down to limit then release. Always acknowledge alerter whilst doing then it shouldn't stop. Like PZB it will give you a period of "grace" but if you are not fast enough it will stop and need to go to suppression and wait and acknowledge until the alarm turns off.

Also for the first 15 miles the speed limit is all over the place. Go to 125 then suddenly back to 90 then 45 even if near a station. Keeps you on your toes! About 2 stations after Newark Airport it will let you run 125 flat out as long as you have no stops. You can then relax.

New York to Trenton is an underrated route? So I guess all the mostly negative reviews on steam are somehow wrong.

It's fine if the op enjoys the route, but I don't get why the op tries to gloss over issues as minor or not much of a problem. It just comes off as being a troll.

This route when it came out rushed and had an incomplete timetable. The singaling system still has issues. They copied-pasted scenery from the original nec route which means that the distant scenery is bad and the area around sunnyside yard is completely wrong. Penn Station doesn't look like penn station at all. The route has sloppy route buliding. Trains clip at the platforms at New York Penn Station. You can't go down the stairs at Newark Penn Station so you have to walk across the tracks to get to another platform. The Bombardier NJ Transit Bi-Levels don't have the passenger lights on so when you ride as a passenger at night or when you are in the tunnels approaching NYP, the cars are completely dark.

When the route was updated to tsw4 it caused more problems such as no passengers and constant beeping from trains. TSW 4 has been out for two months these issues for the most part haven't been fixed so I don't get why the op says that they will be fixed quickly when it's already been two months.

Will the op post that the DB BR 187 is the best German locomotive in the game next? Is the OP trying to become a DTG ambassador or something?

I honestly think this guy (OP) works for DTG in some capacity.

 

I have not played NEC NY-Trenton once since I bought it, because of the remaining problems with missing passengers, wrong door selection by the AI, etc.
I wonder why this route has been neglected when Linke Rheinstrecke had a similar bug that was quickly fixed.
The bug fixes have made Linke Rheinstrecke a very good route, and I hope NEC NY-Trenton will fix it too, but probably not this year, and maybe never in the future.
