I've returned to TSW4 after been away for some time. What route and loco has the best PZB functionality? Any advice would be much appreciated!
If you want to start learning PZB I highly suggest Köln-Aachen with the DB BR 422 "Talent 2" But if you know PZB the best route to master it and using it at it's full potential is Dresden-Riesa ! There are differents signalling systems so it's quite difficult but again it's the best route to master it !
Also read this, it's the best explanation of PZB I've found: https://www.sh1.org/eisenbahn/rindusi.htm
Just be aware that parts of the route use Hl (East German) signaling which can be very confusing to new drivers.
Not sure I would recommend any of the EMUs for learning PZB; frankly it reduces the mental load not to have to worry about holding speed while you are figuring out the PZB finger-dance, and so I would suggest something with reliable AFB (cruise control) like the 146.2.
The 442 Talent 2 that was recommended up the thread also comes with a "Tempomat" that is pretty reliable.
AFB is supposed to be a speed limiter, not a cruise control. You should be coasting or using minimum traction to maintain speed.
How about Hollandstrecke Duisburg Bochum Arnhem the HRR. Sadly there's a Permanent Speed restriction magnet at the S-bahn Essen Depot and if running line speed using In game 422 140 kmh ICE3 ICE1 HRR version 425 DB Baureihe 101 160 kmh you will be stopped by it. Another one is Bahnstrecke Hanau Aschaffenburg Gemunden Wurzburg Bamberg Main Spessart Bahn uses West German signals Hp Vr this was standard route for TSW 2020.
