Midland Mainline Update - Patch Notes

Skyhook Games have released a significant amount of patch notes for their upcoming Midland Mainline update, which includes a number of fixes and improvements to both the route and rolling stock. This can be found here

Finally, I’d like to say it’s been a pleasure working alongside and assisting Skyhook Games with some of the fixes and improvements, of which more information can be found in the first link posted above

Honestly figured MML was done after all that drama a few months back.

 

Sounds good, but I can't see if those dodgy signals with lit red and white calling on indicators have been sorted. Big immersion killer for me. But knowing me I've probably missed it on the list.

Very, very nice to see. As you can see by my profile picture, was already one of my favourite routes, but this looks to elevate it even further.

 

Looks Absolutely Amazing, BUT it really shouldn't taken them almost a YEAR to come and finish Midland Mainline

 

The side by side shots really impressive, looking forward to diving back in to this route.

 

I would suggest this work has taken place since the summer, I would write off what happened prior to that. Good to see Adam having a significant effect and these changes all look great.

 

Well well well where do I begin ? It’s a shame that this route came out unfinished in my opinion with many defects, I lost any trust towards Skyhook, but at the same time (after nearly a year) I’m glad this huge patch will come out as it’s currently impossible to play this route as it’s constantly crashing. I’m finally gonna enjoy it as I really liked the Class 158. Thanks a lot londonmidland for your help assisting them, once again you did an amazing job.

 

Glad to see that the route may start to approach the high standards Just Trains established for it in TSC

 

Great to see such an overhaul, the before and after pics show way more detail than before.

 

That looks impressive I must admit. I hope that the crashing will truly be fixed with this update so the route can be enjoyed to it‘s fullest. It has taken a very long time (far too long) to get here, but I just want the route to work and be as good as it can be.

Was never interested in it before, but I am seriously tempted to get it now.

If I understand the patch notes correctly, this patch will be available for TSW3 as well?

 

You know something's wrong when even Skyhook give a route a meaningful update.
Maybe DTG should take a leaf out of their book?

Wasn’t this supposed to be getting a better timetable?

 

Greatly encouraged by these improvements. A lot of them are transformative. I could be tempted to buy now (subject to player feedback and a discount/sale).

It got the new timetable shortly after release.

 

Jasper_Rivet , seems skyhook has patched the MU working with the 142 / 158 units. Wanted to suggest if your team might have a look to upgrade the class 150. So it can be coupled to a 142 or a 158.

 

I don't see any freight timetable improvement for consoles (for now just One real freight and bunch of rhhts)

Should it have come on or shortly after release? Yes.
Am I grateful we got anything at all? Very much so.

So many routes get consigned to the scrap pile, especially in regards to the scenery so this is excellent news. I only bought this route for the 158 which justified it for me, now I look forward to playing with it on its home route.

A little disappointed there are no daytime freight services and the railtour still has no brake coach or taillights but I'm very happy nonetheless.

 

This looks great, thanks for providing the comparison shots! Hopefully the crash issues on PS5 are sorted once and for all, and many players who bought the route ages ago will finally be able to enjoy it.
If there really aren’t any major issues left after the patch is out, this might land on my “looks solid, buy when it’s on sale” list - like Left Rhine, which I just got at the beginning of the week!

 

New update shots look great; fantastic improvements to night lighting in the environments and especially correcting the “nuclear” HST lighting that leaked through the hull… should be a juicy update that draws a line in the sand and lets them move on to what’s next for the route

 

Good news, but there doesn't seem to be any mention of the utterly deafening roar on the 158 when you go through tunnels or under bridges. It makes what is, otherwise a brilliant train undrivable for me. Surely it's a h&s problem that should have been patched asap?

 

The route is getting better, from the screenshots the differences from first release to now are night & day, it looks much more realistic. Whenever Skyhook decide on their next route I hope they’ve learned from this and what people’s expectations are.

on pc do the freight trains finally show up in timetable mode when you spawn in on foot yet?

 

Think Adam's proficiency as the Preservation Crew guru shines through here, DTG please take note and consider restoring this part of your organisation.

Agreed, if this is the level they release routes at, they will get nothing but praise.

 

Have to second what OldVern said, Adam's addition to the SHG crew has pulled them together and he was able to put his skills into this route. Bravo Adam and your team for the hard work and great results. Further, reaching out to LM and his folks to assist in getting his mods into the actual route.

 

Does look as though Skyhook have actually worked really hard to turn a very bad situation into a positive and right the wrongs of the past. Looking forward to seeing what it’s like, as modded, it was my 2nd most played route until Blackpool came out.

If they do pull this off the it looks like we’ll have Three 3rd party routes of better quality than anything DTG is putting out.

Also a lesson to another certain 3rd Party on how to rescue a reputation.

Let’s hope at some point that Skyhook will also revisit the DB BR 187. That would really put Skyhook back in my good books!

 

Sorry to be negative and pessimistic but after a year they updated the sounds, it turned out to be badly mixed. Then a year later they finally mixed it correctly and it still sounds horribly wrong. I think it’s really dead unless DTG will do the work. They did well for the Dispolok 182 with better sounds one year later, so why not they’ll do the job for the 187.

 

I know and I agree, but doesn't stop me hoping.

 

OP link to patch notes is now throwing up an error for me.

 

Isn’t this just on east coast main line and if I remember correctly it was working fine before a patch, think it’s a dtg issue, rather then skyhook.

 

Looks like their whole website is down so nothing will be available to view until this is fixed.

 

Wow finally a route that gives real life rather than TSW the ground textures really helped

 

Will Rivet re visit WCL and make that into a great route like Just Trains and now Skyhook with updates to MML here's hoping

 

They have to, if they want to keep their customers.

 

Well they are also working on 3 different dlc at the moment: Engineering express (delayed), swiss route, uk route so their hands are pretty full

 

They should probably make less stuff to a higher quality then. Cause their current lineup is severely lacking.

 

I would never suggest that, things are welcome to take as long as needed as far as I’m concerned.

It went down Friday evening, I wouldn't expect it back until Monday when whoever first goes into the office discovers the power's gone off or something.

 

Or more likely contacts the web host. Anyhow I get the vibe SHG is more of a "work from home" outfit than frequenting a shiny office space!
