Dear DTG Please, please, please bring the class 142 pacer to TSW, If you want to be considered as a serious player in the train sim market, you simply must include the class 142. These units have set the standards in customer experience and comfort in Northern England for over 30 years and deserve a place in any rail sim. Unique and stylish and in my opinion will go down as one of the most successful dmu designs in the world bar none. So come on DTG implement cab-sway correctly and let these wonderful trains bounce, bounce their way into TSW and watch your sales really take off.
as a northerner i agree with you. what about 150 classes sprinters.i'd like to see the class 322, 333, 321 these run on eco power as well and run on NTP
Its a couple of years after NTP isnt it. If they created one Id buy it. 101 didnt really have cab sway, this would have to.
I think it should be the original tiger bus shape rather than the refurb front and back end. Obviously a flower sprayer would be a bit quirky, but it shows the shape very well
And yet if they didn't exist a great many branch lines would probably be on ghost service status, because they were just so cheap to run
YES! We need this in the game, in the UK they are now being phased out and its sad. i want to relive the memory and drive one ))))
Thats a awesome request, they are some mint looking loco's however i have never seen them myself, in manchester we mainly just have pacers and the metrolink
I'm surprised people took this post seriously especially the 'setting the standard in customer experience and comfort ' part.. *sarcasm*
They've been around for 35 years and this makes them longer lived than quite a lot of things in the UK so for branch lines and local systems I would say that a pacer would be vital in a lot of places for realism Yes the comfort part was obviously irony, but then again local transportation in the UK is a bit of a running joke anyway
these 150 classes sprinters.i'd like to see the class 322, 333, 321 these run on eco power as well and run on NTP. Northern and Trans pennine express. i regularly use the train from Manchester to Leeds
DTG would have to make a Northern route set in the modern day or post 85 anyway, NTP is too early for it.
yep i agree. if you look at a Northern train line route map. theres plenty of places or routes. leeds, manchester lancaster, crewe , stoke, york, carlise, scarborough, hull. transpennie do these routes as well
The Tyne Valley Line, Newcastle to Carlisle got quite a lot of likes in route suggestions on here so just a case of wait and see.
i should of said before that First Trans Pennine Express now use class 185 desiro and Class 350/4 desiro. No i did not take the photo
I think that “Pacer” and “Confort” don’t fit very good :P Anyways a Pacer in TSW can be a new driving experience
Recently, the name "DarlingtonSaltBurn" appeared in one of the game's files, which means thus is probably a future route. The route is mainly operated by class 142's, so there you go- this will probably happen eventually.
Thanks that's interesting, would rather have seen the Tyne Valley route Newcastle / Carlisle linking the East coast and the West coast mainlines. Suppose that could be a future route .
Yeah, I saw cosmo's proposal for that, it looks like a great route idea. I have the feeling they chose this route because of the freight action on it, especially with one of the other things on the list being an EWS class 08, which would work well as a loco DLC for the route. Unfortunately, I feel like they want their routes to be more different from each other than this, so I would not expect them to make another route in the area for a long time. Sounds like something the community might be able to do with an editor, though, with all the rolling stock and scenery being easily reused from this possible route.
I read your original post and was just about to say you must be taking the mick then I read the above lol
My thoughts on this is that they were probably developing the 08 and the 37/5 which pairs nicely with the route, but they don't have any passenger traction ready to go and it's easier to recycle the 101 than do something completely new. Hopefully we will see the pacer in future either as a replacement or as a layer
Shame about the pacer, but regarding the 66 this route is set in 1989 so about ten years before the 66 arrived and the railways in this country died a little.
Deffo agree with the pacer the class 142 and the 143 are both brilliant trains and should be placed on th GWR map or make a Wales map
They were originally intended to be railbuses, but the thing is that if it weren't for this class of train many of the "outer reaches" of the rail system we have today wouldn't exist because the pacer, whilst not the most comfortable or easiest train to use as a passenger, they were never intended to be long lived, nor to be ridden anything other than to the nearest major hub where a "better" train could be used So yeah, maybe for a train they might be "a joke", but in reality the UK system owes a lot to these little units in the same way they do the sprinters, networkers and so on that whilst they might not have the prestige of a HST or a class 91 have held together pretty well for what was essentially a wagon with a bus body shoved on top
You Pacer fanboys are a sensitive bunch! I'm aware of the history, thanks. Still don't like them. You Pacer fanboys are a sensitive, defensive lot aren't you?
Nope, just providing a context for their existence and support. I love a screaming HST as much as anyone else who once worked on the rails but without the feeders we wouldn't have the prestige lines and I'd much rather spend an hour or two stopping at ten stations and maybe seeing some yellows rather than spending half an hour on speed set at 125MPH seeing nothing other than, well probably my phone screen listening to the occasional ding as the green lights whiz by
I have no problem with the stopping services. In fact I enjoy them more than I ever thought I would (talking 101 and 166). But Pacers? No. Sprinters? No problem.
