    I’ve noticed that on ECML as well as many other routes (Cross City, Edinburgh Glasgow etc) that when you’re looking forwards in the cab the sounds just don’t work. You can’t hear the horn, you can’t hear the door closing alarms, can’t hear the safety systems

    Can't say I've ever had this on PC at any point. I can always hear the horns and doors closing when facing front in cab.

    It’s an issue on Xbox. It worked fine during the initial release of TSW4, I put the game down for a couple of months and now it just seems broken. If I look left or right towards either cab door on any train on any route, the sounds are as they should be, but looking forwards the sounds are too quiet, and in some cases the horn, the door alarms and the safety systems are actually completely silent.

    This route is great, love it.
    I've found that gen 8 doesn't like Doncaster, even in scenarios, did the one in which you take a 801 back to the depot under the emergency engine and as I was walking to my new train the game just quit to the Xbox home screen no messages no sound. It's done the same in depot moved around Doncaster, also with the flying Scotsman. So far only managed one full line run which was brilliant.

    Gen 8 will struggle because of the RAM.

    I am running on Series S, which in all honesty is better than Gen 8 but in my opinion not quite Gen 9.

    I have the occasional stutter at Doncaster on the full timetable, and It has crashed once or twice, but given the demand for RAM I’m happy that I can run it at all

    My apologies - my Xbox for some reason appeared to reset any audio settings as well as the visual settings when I had to use a new HDMI cable. Sounds are much better.

    I have seen streams where the audio is much better with great sounds in cab. Sounds like you are in some sealed vault at minute playing it.

    But if this reflects the real world then so be it

    I just looked at the update info in the patch for November 27, 2023. So, there still are no patches or repairs to interiors of Azuma trains or scenery terrain polygons?
    Specifically, you still can't walk around the trains with risking being thrown out of them and you still can't walk on the tracks north of Grantham with either falling through a non-solid ground polygon that leaves you in a hole under a bridge north of Grantham.
    Or other bridges that have transparent box polygons that are supposed to be air but are, in fact solid, so you can't walk onto or across that bridge without being seated in a train passing by it.
    And if your standing in the train, Azuma or Flying Scotsman (as in NOT SEATED), you still risk being thrown from the train and left standing on the tracks. And you can't even walk to the next station without risking getting trapped by another bridge that you can't walk across.

    On PS4 when approaching Doncaster or Peterborough the entire track and scenery disappears and the train just runs on the ground for a bit. I assume this is just a GEN 8 issue so probably can't be helped.

    Any plans to model the Sugar factory - the biggest landmark in Newark and visible from MILES AND MILES AWAY - and have it in an update?

    It's SO CLOSE to the green bridge heading in to Newark from the North, before the flat crossing. It can be seen clearly from the trains in all it's glory, just as I can see the trains in great detail from the site, right behind me in my profile pic!!!

    It's just really lazy from where I am. Sure, you included the juice tanks, but where are the massive chimneys or the sugar silos??!!

    In East Midland Main Line you included the Power station, which is a similar distance from the track as the Sugar factory is!!!!

    Mml is made by skyhook, not dtg. There are no plans to add it. They rarely go back and add landmarks that are in the scenery

    Interesting happening, I was driving a 9 car 801 and looked over at the screen to my right, on it was a button labeled "dark screen". I pressed it and now the only way to see the screens is press on it and after a few seconds, it goes dark again. I tried everything I could think of looking at the screen to cancel it, to no avail. I drove the rest of the service with these screens off. Luck I use a Rail Driver because it has its own speedometer.

    I was waiting at the platform and when I came back to the living room, I saw someone crossing the tracks. NPCs are evolving:

    Pretty sure the 5 car azuma should only have disabled spaces in first class and not at both ends of the train.

    That really is unforgiveable in a game that is played by professional railway people. Sloppy building and testing, or programming if it's the algorithms causing the problem as other routes have similar issues.

    I've noticed when I'm doing a 6 car service from Grantham retford to doncaster hapoend alot now I get red light issue did 2 yesterday wasn't for off I looked on map seen a que of trains thought it's happend again hope this gets fixed

    PS5 TSW4
    AWS traction lock RED on minimal HUD on running Class 801 on ECML north of Peterborough:
    pressing ETCS ack button above AWS big button has effect of brake release just as does press of Brake Release upper left with AWS yellow illuminated
    even tho ETCS remains in state isolate ( no toggle set to normal ever ) as final step of release from AWS traction lock in fully stooped 801.
    Tmetabled service Grantham to Newark.
    My manual has no info on ETCS acknowledge...
    related Q:
    DB Freight in UK is currently moving freight locos to ETCS per DB press so i assume ETCS will become prominent safety sys in UK over time on ECML passenger as on other UK services, but is it intended on these Class 801 ?
    What does isolate status mean here for ETCS ?

    ECTS will be coming to the ECML south very soon. The first Thameslink trains to P'boro have run the line using full ETCS systems.

    PS5 TSW4 post-core update Part 1 Dec 24
    PS5 Controller button response to AWS on Class 801 on ECML neither shows nor sounds a pop of the large yellow AWS ack button on man cab panel.

    I think it was there just as a gimmick on the train to make it more realistic.

    Neither AWS issue on Win10 emulated XBox after core update.
    Button does not release brakes and AWS button pops as expected.

    Sorry, should have noted that in XBox case i am not using a controller, but rather am using keyboard Q and mouse clicks.

    added a BT keybd to PS5 and found Q elicits action and sound as expected.

    clarification detail: out of habit, after reducing throttle to off and settng reverser to neutral, i run brakes up to Max ( as i would to full service where there is not brake release button ) and then to OFF. zIt is then that ETCS ack button acts as a brake release.

    sadly, addng the BT keybd to PS5 TWS4 post-core update imd-run appears t have broken AWS: it now beeps but if ignored, that is all. So i must be over my head here in the weeds ...

    powered off the BT keybd and the PSF controller button popped the AWS button of the 801 just as 'Q' had done ... but only once. Then it went invisible and silent, but effective as a response.
    Baffled, i restarted the 801 service, set TPS/ACS to normal, set off ignoring AWS and nce overspeed, got a traction lock.
    T/B to off
    Rev to Neutral
    AWS tapped
    T/B to max
    T/B to off
    Rev to Forward
    Brakes remain full emerg application.
    tapped ETCS ack and brakes released just as if without my resetting brake handle to MAX but just OFF then tapping Brake Release button.
    So that much is just an obscure oddity.
    Turning off the keybd reveals that my controller can get an AWS button pop. So once is hope for an easy fix, i hope.

    Question for roadmap tomorrow:

    How long till the numbering on the azumas is corrected?
    Why do the Lincoln services (1BXX) still have it set as a service that terminates at Newark Northgate?

    Also when 2 5 cars are coupled together the taillights in the middle stay on and there’s nothing you can do to turn them off and still be able to drive the train.

    When will the level crossing timers be adjusted to fix the spurious double yellow signal checks? Still an issue when I drove the route last week, the danger being if you ignore them then get a genuine check, like approaching Retford on the Down where I forgot there is no main line platform, I was on to a single yellow doing 110 - eek. Passengers did not thank me for the vigorous brake application and luckily the signal into the back platform came off on approach.

    But it needs sorting.

    Are "current speed" and "speed restriction" are toggleable on a new minihud? Can't find these options. Also what "red lever" icon means? It's somehow depend on brakes, but isn't always displayed.

    No, especially on the southern end the only time you'll see a double yellow is if you have something in front. The crossing are shut well in advance to keep everything green.

    Right - it's true that the crossings are interlocked with the signals (this is a standard feature of full-barrier and swing-gate crossings, in which the signalman checks that the crossing is unobstructed before clearing the signal). This is because trains passing through these crossings are travelling too fast to identify and stop for an obstruction, or a failed crossing mechanism, on their own. There are other types of crossing (principally AHB, AOCL, and various private-use crossing types) that are not interlocked, and are used on slower lines. MWL private crossings are partially interlocked.

    The crossing is activated far enough ahead of the train to avoid showing it any adverse signal aspects, when practical. Because it takes time to activate the crossing and then verify that it is unobstructed, this must be done while there are still several green signals in front of the train. For the Stoke Bank section, there is the additional complication of the experimental flashing-green aspects, which extend the number of sections that have to be clear to show trains a fully cleared aspect, and also potentially decrease the running time between signals (the plan was to introduce 140mph running, which means about 25 seconds per mile).

    Assuming it takes 45 seconds to activate and clear the crossing, and that signals are consistently 1 mile apart, that means the crossing must be triggered when the train passes the signal 6 sections in-rear of the one protecting the crossing. If it is presently only triggered at a 4-section distance, that would explain why we sometimes pass double-yellows at 125mph.

    Doncaster depot to Doncaster Platform, 801 derails even after contacting signaller. Is the issue in the rear cab ?
    DRA toggle eas used to remove traction lock. Was that an error is this a glitch derailment ?

    I've found that since the new update, the guard panel doesn't want to work properly at all. Clearly someone has tried to do it but implimented it very, very poorly.
    I've turned the guard panel on, I have done the door handover everything and the normal door open never wants to work and nor does the close door button.


    For me, on the 801s, the in carriage doors don't auto close, they stay open until you click them again. Depending on the exact location of the train, you can't walk between the carriages either.


    The whole ECML addon seems very rushed and just thrown out to say that they have a UK route for the core TSW4 package thing. Attention to detail severely lacking but as per with DTG, no accountability and not cares given (to put it nicely).

    I see the latest update has fixed the 801 diesel sounds issue but the 1234 numbering remains the same, I'm sure it was mentioned in December's roadmap this had been fixed or is that coming in the second part of the Winter update?

    Yeah numbering is definitely still borked sadly. I swear they mentioned it as fixed in the stream like you.
