The class 09 shunter on WSR does not have working gauge lights in the cab. This doesn't really matter right now, as the WSR has no night scenarios or services, but it would be completely unusable if they did add late evening scenarios or services. I hope that DTG are not just going to repaint the class 09 and lazily slap an "08 xxx" number on the cab, and actually add working gauge lights to the model, along with other updates. Also retrofitting the WSR class 09 with the same updates and working gauge lights at some point would be nice. We have had enough rush jobs and lazy repaints in TS20xx, so let's not continue the trend in TSW.
Not sure if WSR run night services, but certainly night shunting would have been a thing on the coalfields up north, and still is I presume, so let's hope the 08 is fully working and the services and scenarios use it fully. What I am hoping they can do is have AI interactive shunting services where new consists are brought in that have to be broken down, or where you shunt the wagons into place and an AI comes in and hauls them off. Wasn't possible in TSx, but may be in TSW (if a banking loco can enter an occupied block then that's already a difference from TSx)
I hope so too. We have the ability of AI to run round trains (something not possible in TSx) so hopefully shunting will be possible with AI interactive shunting services. I believe Trainz can do it so hopefully it will be possible is TSW. The lack of intuitive AI was something which hampered scenario creation in TSx.
No point comparing to games on completely different engines... Agreed on the scenarios in TSx along with many many other niggly little b*****d things which hamper creation on that one
Having watched the Devstream where Matt showed off the early Editor I remember him saying that there is a lot of potential to do whatever you want with the Blueprints. So maybe more complex AI moves are possible!
Yep... I've honestly sent around 15 bug reports to DTG since Friday, along with another few almost ready to go. Had to add a special "DTG bug reports sent" folder to my email account. No responses yet, just the usual automatic "Your ticket has been received" thingies. Ah, i didn't know that, thanks for the info.
To be only slightly fair, WSR was never supposed to have the same quality base rolling stock as the rest of the game- hence the reduced price tag and the multiple higher quality loco DLC. But the 47 was redone a bit for NTP, so I would expect the 08- being a different class and needing some changes anyway- to receive the same treatment. Source?
the 08 is based on the WSR 09 model as has been said - though it has had quite a lot of improvements made to it. Scripting, Setup and Audio are all completely new and developed by Ed Fisk for us. It's a fantastic loco to drive
You should know this question would be coming... Does this mean any of these improvements can be retrofitted to the 09?
Makes a lot of sense actually, they are very similar locomotives. Literally the only difference between them in real life would be the tractive effort and top speed. The sounds and model could be completely reused, and the physics modified.
Read what Matt said... So if things like fixes and patches can be applied to the 08 then they could be applied to the 09, whilst still allowing for the qualification in gearing, physics, engine sizes or whatever else is different under the skin.
