are you not surprised because it takes longer development than the easier stuff such as what we got in part one? or are you not surprised "because it's DTG as usual"?
I’m not surprised either, I fully expect those to be a late Q1 maybe Q2 addition. Any earlier and it’ll be a nice surprise. Fortunately Skyhook finally came thorough with their follow up patch for MML, so I’ll be checking that out along with some more BPO action sprinkled in.
I wonder if on "Formation Designer" - which seems to be a great new tool! - , you can select the corresponding repainted passenger wagons? I mean, ... as I am on PS4 console, I can only select the color of the locomotive. In case of passenger trains, there are repaints of the wagons to match the locomotive one. But I could not have it. It always appears the DB IC ones!. For example, there are repaints of Railjet, and CD locomotive ones.. So it will be great if you can select the corresponding paint scheme of the locomotive, for the passenger wagons too! Even could be great for freight cars too. Hopes the fact to select the paint scheme, of each of the locomotive and wagons (both passenger and freight) could be selected when creating a formation.
I reckon we’ll get about 5 months with the suspension (at most) before TSW5 is announced. It’s not a core update at all. Other than the HUD it’s another bog-standard patch of a whole load of nothing. As always it’s niff-naff and trivia and important things like the DSD on the 801, the signalling on ECML or the rain effects on the GWE HST just get left.
I mean suspension physics in particular are a big job so leaving it to the 2 part of the update is probably the best decision. Remember we’ve still got January and February for winter so part 2 could come out between now and then…
Agreed, which is why they shouldn’t of rushed to release TSW 4 when there are parts of it incomplete & buggy.
Then don't release the game in summer when your new core features will not be ready for another half a year.
The problem is that DTG have not given any reason to trust them when they say "it needs a bit more time, but it's coming".
At this point, I would fully expect the Part 2 update is going to be postponed and then baked into TSW5.
Fair point tbh I was personally fine with a new release at the time but in hindsight, what was it all for, if some of the major selling points aren’t ready to go 6 months after release.
It's pretty disappointing tbh. Can anyone confirm if substitution has been actually fixed? I know it's in the patch notes but that's no guarantee lol
That was my first thought as well on reading the notes. Nothing substantial with the core, just individual locos, one-offs, rare things I've never run into (and therefore not important), and something about a sign. Just call it "Winter Update" if no optimization or actual fixing of the core is taking place.
Matt has said numerous times he won't release the suspension updates until it is ready. I just hope that it isn't decided that it is to difficult to implement and quietly dropped. A bit like the Advanced Fireman features of SOS.
Ngl the new minimal HUD adjustments are very high impact (and positive impact) for me, with some tweaks that I made. I love it. So I wouldn’t call this an insignificant update. Just missing some pretty important items that unfortunately aren’t ready.
The game and most of it's features were done in the Summer. If DTG sat on that to get two more features in, that's money down the drain. (We'd also probably be looking at a core package of Maintalbahn and whatever the next UK and US routes are, which is bad enough.)
You call it money down the train, I would call it development time. Just like software products have always been made. Well made games don't release before being finished - or if they do, then they are labelled as Early Access.
Development time on those features has extended to, well, now. If they held off on the TSW4 release for those months in-between, that is money down the drain. Who cares anyway? The features will be here regardless.
You sure? We had plenty of unfulfilled promises in the last few years. I will believe it when I see them. But even then, I find it ridiculous to advertise a game with features that are not available for another half a year. But if you're fine with that, that's okay too. Personally, I find it unacceptable. With the same logic I could tell them to give me TSW4 or the latest add-ons for free. Sure, I will pay... eventually at some point, I guess?
