Routes I like to See modern day Leeds to York via Harrogate with the class 170 3 car and 158 two car I would like to see an extensions to the ECML from Leeds and Stevenage to London to be add in to the game I would like to see longer routes In the game This is due to the older gen 8 consoles This is where DGT needs to draw the line with the older gen 8 players and make TSW 5 on UE5.3 for Gen 9 and pc players only and have updated for the older Gen 8 versions I know some don’t like change but you have to face reality and change I know this isn’t everyone cup of tea I will give you a very good example GTA 6 by rockstar is Gen9 and pc only older gen is out of fashion and out of date DGT will one start concentrating on gen 9 I would like to better graphics in 4k And start focusing on Gen 9 and pc and bigger routes And updating older routes to bring them up to standard give them a face lift I would like to see more routes from France I would like to routes from Spain I would like to routes from Italy I would like to see more routes From Germany I would like to see more routes Uk I would like to see the Eurostar in game as as Eurostar group as thalys name has been rebranded as Eurostar Group DGT probably will get the license one day Gen 9 is the way forward I’m not saying this to upset people im staying this because I know it’s going to happen sooner than you think there will be the day when developers will start dropping the older Gen consoles it’s a fact
Ditching Gen8 doesn't bring us longer routes. Route Length is almost always dictated by development time/budgets (the latter of which would probably go down a bit if Gen8 is ditched). It's also just not feasible for Dovetail to focus on bringing all older routes up to TSW4 standards. Finally, Extensions just won't happen.
If I see one more UE5 or get rid of gen 8 request thread I will genuinely tear them a new one with how annoying they are...
They can't focus only on Gen 9 as a lot of players are still on Gen 8. Eurostar also won't give a license (that's the theory at least) so it won't appear any time soon.
Problem with updating older routes to the newest standards is the amount of time and resources it would take. Lighting for example requires the old lighting to be stripped away, apply tod4, update every single light source to be brighter, fix all light baking issues and test it. To do that with all the tsw2020 and 2 dlc is a lot of work. Each of the new things are route and train specific, which only increases dev time and cost. Dtg couldn't just stop making new content which would mean they don't make money as a business and even if everyone worked on updating old routes, there aren't 100 lighting guys for example to make them finish any faster. There are more uk and german routes on the roadmap. About ue5, that's also probably several years of work. There's a lot of content now that all has to be remade to work in ue5. If it took at least half a year to change from 4.17 to 4.23, it's going to take even longer to jump from 4.26 to 5. Content only grows, increasing time. So if ue5 were to be a thing, we might lose the collection or for it to not come at all or they stop making all content and rebuild each dlc which is tedious
If its time consuming to update older routes, they could recreate them. Maybe something like a poll to see which one they should do.
We've already had a route extension of sorts - the somewhat dull HS1 route got extended to Ashford. So it's possible but more likely to sold as an updated longer new DLC than just an extension pack. I'm assuming you were thinking of the latter. It's a shame simple extensions won't happen though and that's what's stopping me from buying some routes (Midland Main Line for example).
