Tsc Is Crashing Back To Desktop With "out Of Memory" Error Reports (very Often During Scenarios)

    Hello everyone! :)

Unfortunately, I'm experiencing the following issue, I've mentioned in the subject line, very often while running a scenario in train simulator classic (TSC)!

In my particular case, the mentioned issue is always occurring quite randomly, but always while running (playing) a scenario in TSC (it ONLY "strikes" during running scenarios and NEVER in other "sections" of TSC). Whether "quick-drive-scenario" or a self-created scenario, with or without AI-trains on the map: None of this really matters and it's all failing equally, when TSC is crashing while running scenarios! Indeed, it's VERY annoying and disappointing and meanwhile, the frequently occurring crashes are just sucking beyond measure! :(

At that point, I'd really like to apologize for my quite "rude" expression, but the very frequent occurrence of "out-of-memory-crashes" has made TSC literally unplayable for me (approximately every third scenario is suddenly crashing back to desktop out of the blue, subsequently showing the previously mentioned, damned error report)! In other words: If I'm starting a virtual "journey" in TSC, I absolutely NEVER know if I'll ever reach my "destination"! In conclusion: The mentioned crashes are happening quite randomly and its occurrence is absolutely unpredictable! :(

A clarifying example: Last week, I've successfully completed a scenario till its end, but yesterday, exactly the same scenario has crashed just a few kilometers before reaching the virtual "destination"! Indeed, absolutely unpredictable! The greatest buzzkill, I've ever seen in TSC! :(

In each individual case, it's always the same error message ("Out of memory", combined with the error code "0xC0000005", accompanied by "Fatal error in mode DRIVE.")! :(

I've already attempted to fix this issue by following the instructions in this "guideline" on Steam, but unfortunately, I didn't succeed (despite following all instructions (why ever)):

    https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2297125586

And my Gaming-PC-system can't be to blame, because it fulfills (and even exceeds) all system requirements to run TSC without any problems:

CPU: Intel i7-14700k (up to 5,60 GHz clock speed)
GPU: Nvidia RTX 4070 (12 GB VRAM)
    RAM: 64 GB DDR5-6000
SSD: Samsung 980 Pro with heatsink (2 TB)

Do you have any helpful suggestions and ideas, how to take the annoying "out-of-memory" bugs in TSC out of the equation (once and for all)? I'd be extremely grateful! :)

    Best regards from Germany,

    JohnnyC2409

P.S.: In the attachment, you'll find the error log of my latest TSC crash (hopefully, it provides some crucial clues regarding the immediate cause of the latest crash)! :)

Furthermore, in my opinion, two crucial improvements need to be implemented in the upcoming updates for TSC:

1.) The very frequent occurrence of "out-of-memory-crashes" while playing a scenario should be banished from TSC, once and for all.

2.) TSC should be able to use more CPU cores, in order to achieve significantly higher frame rates (FPS).

Do you have the AP Sky/Weather pack? If so, make sure you are running in Borderless and not Full Screen.

I sadly don't know, whether I already have the mentioned pack! How can I determine, if it's already installed, or not (I'm fairly new to TSC)? :)

I'm always running TSC in the full screen mode. Does it make any difference, if I'm running it in the borderless mode? :)

Unfortunately, it appears as though there's been a network upload failure of the crashdump from TSC to our server so we're not able to analyse the cause. If this is a common occurrence, you may have other crashdumps that you can share with us.

    Best, Steve

My honest, most likely explanation for the upload failure to your server: Before running TSC, I'm always disconnecting my PC's internet access in order to achieve some better frame rates in TSC and to avoid potential crashes/dumps (as an additional measure, I'm also turning Steam offline)! An example: Windows updates being downloaded in the background simultaneously aren't really beneficial if you want to get the best performance of your PC at that time! ;)

Additionally, I've also heard some rumors (much more than once), that the unnerving "out-of-memory-dumps" can also be triggered by Windows update downloads, running hidden and unnoticed in the background, while you're playing a scenario in TSC! Since I've heard this, I'm always disconnecting my PC's internet connection before running TSC to avoid any (additional) problems! :)

At the moment, I'm considering this theory: Can all the crashes of TSC be related to completely unnoticed issues, affecting the Windows paging file?

You would have PURCHASED It from Armstrong Powerhouse - If you have not done that you won't have it.

It is not the course of the crash. What happens in fullscreen is that the triggers script will cause the game to minimize. The game is not crashed, all you have to do is to maximize it again.

I have finally fixed my pc (almost 2 years later and many many OOMs). My fix was to update the BIOS. This was obviously giving conflicts with my Graphics card. Just an FYI as this is something sometimes overlooked. My BIOS was 3 years old ( the pc was 2 years old).
