After JT and Rivet showing on train announcements are possible. This is the perfect route for DTG to implement them for the first time. If not original possible than a voice actor to record them. What do you think?
I’d be dissapointed if they couldn’t get annoucements in now. They don’t need to be anything fancy just ‘This is the train to Gospel Oak, the next stop is Barking’ or just ‘the next stop is Barking’. This will be the next step to getting proper station announcements too because the last time I recall TSW getting major PIS updates (that we were told about) was platform pis being able to read from off-world destinations and trains pis showing destinations from other routes. It’s time to move forward.
Bernina or whatever the new one is called, has auto announcements according to their latest blog post
I would love to see the announcements for these trains as they are some reason to me so much more different to any other line and i also hope they do the PIS in the train as they are only used on these trains and they are kind of similar to the class 323s PIS if you dont know what they look like then they look like this : and i also hope they included there specific ones on the advertisment board section.
They should just get the basic train simulated things right. JT managed to deliver a top experience. Yes rivet has announcements, but the 385 sound update never happend + for some reason they forgot the flange sounds ENTIRELY. Just even thinking about rivet and their "learning courve" creates annoyance on my side. If everything is up to expected quality standard, please go on and add cool announcements. If they cant, just dont...
I do hope, if there are announcements, that the announcements are as annoying as they seem to be in real life. I believe they occur more frequently than on older units, unless I am mistaken.
I’m happy to supply the announcements for free if DTG want to make contact? I have voiceover experience so it’s not quite as random a suggestion as may appear. Presuming that the official voice can’t be used anyway.
Cant agree more, Like it would be saying Barking, This is the train to Gospel oak, Next station: Woodrange Park, ITS PERFECT
Have to agree, for me it makes such a difference. The ScotRail one can be a bit footery to do while on approach, so an automated solution would be ideal but I’d take manually triggered if need be.
But would you hear the announcements from the driver's cab or would they sound slightly muted from there?
Well when sitting in the front of the train you can hear the AWS and on (455 atleast) you can hear the driver buzzing back to the guard, so id assume the driver could at minimum hear the announcements muffled
You can usually hear the announcements from the cab, only exceptions are during heavy wheel flange squeal
Thanks everyone for sharing the opinions. I really hope we will get the announcements ( and for every route to come) . I think its time after all these years of TSW. For me at least it makes the sim so much more enjoyable.
When will announcement for Goblin comming- this will one wonder. I guess DTG bring never for TSW ( licence issue) or maybe with voice from Matt Peddlesden??.
I would say you're comparing apples to oranges but it's more like comparing an apple to a cardboard box. Most BREL units (from my experience) have the AWS audible in the passenger area, not great in the soundproofing. Why that would hold any relevance, however, on a route that will have the 710 - a modern unit - is beyond me.
I have been in the front coach of a Javelin once, and I heard the bipbipbipbipbipbipbipbipbeeeeepbipbipbipbeeep of the cab being activated. I have also been in the front coach of a Turbostar where I could hear the AWS and DSD. I have also been on a Thameslink Desiro City where the driver corrected the in train announcement, though I'm not sure if they had means of checking the announcement without hearing it. It seems to me that you may be able to hear sounds from the cab in the passenger area on modern units as well, so I can believe that announcements can be audible in an Aventra's cab.
Yeah it would be a major disappointment if there are no announcements on this route, if Rivet and JT can do it then DTG have no excuse, especially on a route where in real life they're sounding every minute. The lack of announcements on Bakerloo is part of why I don't play it very often. It's just not the same.
I have to agree. As others have said, Rivet and JT have announcements on their routes. DTG in my view wouldn't have a valid excuse to not have announcements on this route
The JT announcements are frankly fantastic. The fact they included them for TVL and WCL as well? Amazing.
You need to press the phone in the cab of the class 142 nearest to the window because that's the only train what has the announcements on Blackpool to Preston. Plus the announcements only work in timetable mode and it has a layer for west Cornwall Local, the announcements work on there to.
Only the Goblin Line was teased but to be 100 percent certain we'll have to wait for the official announcement.
Dtg release one route at a time. Since they are each their own line, it would each be their own dlc. And no, it does not mean dtg will definitely do nll
In the pacer you can also use the Keybind for guard (G) for announcements, the buzzer being bonded to the bell keybind (B)
When DTG made the GOBLIN for TS, they also added the West London Line to Clapham Junction at the same time.
I'm surprised so many people are speculating about the West or North London line being included as well. They are both more important lines than the Goblin so surely if that was the case it would be advertised as such, with the Goblin line being the bonus. It would be like if DTG advertised London Commuter as "Victoria to Reigate", and the Brighton line was just a bonus.
I think it's time to start including annoncements on all commuter routes. I'm totally enjoying those included with 142, have just been driving on WCL and it adds an extra layer to immersion. I don't care too much if the voice is 100% real or not - I mean on the Goblin line, because the voice in Pacer is different for every driver anyway BTW, do you remember WOS1 (PATH NYC) and annoucements from the driver/guard that sounded like he was eating a burger while speaking? "This is a World Train Center station train!" "Next stop will be Grove Street!" "Stand clear... of the doors!" Released 2008, bad physics, but felt more realistic because of the announcement system.
Given the progress made by both Rivet and Just Trains, this would seem like a colossal missed opportunity if announcements aren't included, given that the recordings should be straightforward and the whole thing could be automated using event triggers on the track (as Matt pointed out in a previous stream re: the Rivet route)
I could do announcements This is the train to Gospel Oak etc. Next Station Walthamstow Queens Road etc. Mind the gap between the train and the platform. They are all the same as the Watford D.C Line one of my local trains so it would be cool to have them.
They are for sure some of the best announcements on any of the trains where I was ever on they are also the same as the Elizabeth line
