Yes, even on the PC the forests pop up constantly and quite close to the viewer. The FPS is also poor in many places. There were similar problems on the Rhine route, but of course they were never fixed.
An other little thing I noticed that also breaks immersion in my oppinion is that the magnetic brakes are not working in emergency brake. Since the 642 has a magnetic brake switch you can switch that on and notice that in emergency braking the magnets only work when that test switch is operated. I bet that none of the other trains have working magnetic brakes tho that's what it's for, to stop sooner. I found these little thing so immersion breaking.
Same Problem here. The train gets thrown around but no derailment. But when u reach the first point, the second train starts moving and blocking your path. Strange lightning at Kilometer 8.6 PC / Steam
Maintalbahn DB BR 363 service EZK(54874) @14:47 Can't complete szenario because of passing red light. Bit the signal is not red. Tried it with an without contacting signaler. PC / Steam
I love this route! But the issues I struggle with the most, is as mentioned by others here, the pzb behaving strangely, timetable seems waaay to hard, like it’s unrealistic. Even if I drive 20-10 seconds earlier, I be late for the next stop… And it’s even harder with pzb on. Passengers in most cases only boarding the train from the end door. Passengers not boarding the train at all, at Achaffenburg Hochschule and Kleinhenach stations. I haven’t seen any BR 628 on service. Only some that is parked in Aschaffenburg Hbf. Not being able to choose between single units or Double units with BR 642 and BR 628 in timetable. This personally for me, it’s very annoying. Cause with the BR 612, this is an option. Both 642 and 628 has single and double units in the game. But you can’t choose them in menu or timetable… Why are we not allowed to use the BR 628 single unit at all in timetable? You can only use double? You can only replace 628 with 642’s double units services in timetable. Now for BR 612, I can replace them with any service I want, and get a single unit or double unit of my choice. This one made me very frustrated and sad. BR 628 is my favorite train of all time, and I was so excited to play with the modern version of it, and I love the single unit version, that I can’t use. It should be made possible to drive all the different units, on all the passengers services. Like i wish, i could drive a 628 single unit service between Miltenberg and Aschaffernburg, just like i can with BR 612. BR 628 double unit is too long for Sulzbach station, as well. Station is to small. BR 612 Camera is still bugged, I can’t look out of the train when sitting in the cabin. This bug has been here now since the release of the 612… And one little wish… If any developers might see this, please make this possible for the near future. Can we please, just please… get working blinders for the driver cabin glass door, for BR 628, 612, and 642… We got this for the OBB 4024. Now I can understand this being tricky with BR 628. But atleast for 642, shouldn’t be hard….
It's not unrealistic, that's exactly how it is in real life. It happens often that trains there are late 1-3 minutes. It's a bit annoying, yes, but that's how it is. It's not impossible to be on time tho (with and without PZB). You just need to be a bit experienced with PZB and time your breaking. That's because the 628's are not driving there since the end of 2019 anymore. The timetable is from 2023 (or 2022 not sure) so it would be unrealistic letting them drive there.
In the route article, DTG stated that the 628 would "substitute into all of Maintalbahn's 642 services", not forgetting the 612 also subs in too.
I think, I have found a red signalling bug on Maintalbahn: Platform PS5: Service RE87 (23390) Wertheim - Aschaffenburg; also the first service on journey mode chapter 4. After loading passengers at Miltenberg, you have to wait for a crossing train at a red signal, which already causes some delay. This is not the actual problem. After driving nonstop to Klingenberg, you have to wait for a crossing train again for about 5 -10 mins. When it arrives, the signal on your side doesn't change to green, although the track ist free now. I tried this several times, but everytime the same. So this must be a bug. Please check this out, DTG! Thx!
How long did you wait after the crossing train arrived before giving up? Did you check the map to see whether the dispatcher had sent another train towards you? I've had this happen to me on a different service, and after a further 10-15 minutes *another* crossing train arrived, then I got the signal.
About 15-20 minutes I think... Twice. What made me think of a bug is, that another train gets stuck behind me because of my red signal and even the crossing train now gets stuck on a red signal. And yes, there is another train about five stations ahead but that one will be get stuck behind the crossing train, if I don't leave the block before it arrives there... But thanks for this answer, I will tr that again, when I have more time to wait (at least 30 mins).
Well, I've just played this one, and it turned out to be unplayable, just as you said! * Departed Miltenberg 1510, 3 mins late due to awating a s/b train off the single line * Arrived Klingenberg 1515 * S/b train arrived Klingenberg 1532, but I did not receive the signal to depart n/b * S/b train could not depart Klingenberg because another n/b train had left Miltenberg and was now occupying the single line south of Klingenberg [Still recoverable at this point in theory, but ...] * Another s/b train left Obernberg-Elsenfeld at 1544 (on time), now occupying the single line north of Klingenberg, thus creating a standoff and making completion impossible. (This train should have been held for our train.) Bug reported!
So I decided to bite the bullet and pick this up today, because I wanted more use of the 628 which I love. What the hell is this? The entire side of the caravan site between Laudenbach and Klingenberg is flooded?
I've found more and more, crossing gates not lowering, roads sections not even lined up. This is one of the worst routes I've played visually, it just screams rushed/slapdashed. Which is a shame as the new train is pretty nice.
Not even worth bothering with in a sale, unless it gets sent back to the builder(s) for a substantial rebuild.
Found some LC road lights permanently flashing, on the freight branch just south of Obernburg-Elsenfeld. Ticket raised.
I finished the scenarios over the holiday weekend and I wasn't impressed. The over-sensitivity to the DMU controls made the "Running on Vapors" scenario even less enjoyable, the initial scenario that involved fueling up units was mind-numbing and having to change cabs so many times was repetitious, and the lost bicycle and snow scenarios were equally boring. The scenery of the route felt more of what I expect from MSTS. I was pretty disappointed in this DLC overall, especially after coming off the Blackpool, Class 323, and Cargo Line add-ons from the third party studios. Step your game up DTG!
I haven’t bought this route, just reading the feedback. Why am I not surprised there is so much negative feedback once again? Does anyone at DTG really take pride in their work? Yet another sloppy release.
Thanks to all those who have posted, saved me money and a refund “strike” from buying this mess. Also serves as a sobering warning for any future DTG products whatever region, as their output quality declines never, ever buy on Day One no matter how tempting it might be.
They aren't normally as bad as this, but this is definitely one of the lowest quality routes I think I've bought from DTG. They said it's a "filler" route and it really shows lol. (I own almost all of the routes). From now on, instead of doing "filler" routes, I think the time would be better spent on the bigger routes they are working on, or on fixing bugs/quality issues on older routes.
That saved me from buying of this route as well. Mabe on a 50% discount just for the loco, which actually issnt bad at all. But 30 EURO for a loco is just to much. The route issnt worth it.
I don't find the route that bad, it's decent in my opinion, it's nothing special and just a very "standard" DTG route, at least for me. I would say (for me at least) the 642 (if you meant that train, otherwise it's still my point (of view)) is pretty much, sadly, the disappointment here. There are so many bugs like passengers unable to use the doors on the back part of the unit resulting in spawned passengers inside the train being stuck there forever and outside passengers being completely unable to board onto the back part of the train (since apparently passengers can only sit in the part of the train where they boarded in) - BASICALLY, only one side of the train is available for passengers, and if that side is full, well, then any additional passenger WILL not be able to board EVEN when the other side of the train is not full at all or even empty. It's kinda immersion-breaking (for me) tbh. Then you have the broken MFD that SHOULD display the status of the passenger doors and other statuses (which it absolutely should because it's the MAIN page), the worse-than-628 performance (which according to other people IS NOT that horrible), the oversensitive control for traction and braking, etc.
Yeah it definitely has issues, but the route imo is probably the worst looking route released since TSW3 launch. It has so many clipping/floating/mesh issues constantly. Crossing barriers not working, etc.
Still no major updates a month on. The oversensitive PBC and impossible timetable (one minute between stops??) remain.
(PC) Service RE87(23390) depart from Miltenberg 15:15 is buggy-red signal at Klingenberg station(Journey and TT mode)
I did a one by one comparison between this clip on youtube and a RB88 timetable ride at 12:17: Desiro acceleration is a bit too low below 60 kph and way to low above! Also it feels that passenger changing times are too long (I know, its cut in the clip).
Hello everyone, first of all, thank you for all of the feedback you've given us so far. It's been very valuable and has been noted, but I'll make doubly sure and go through your posts again to ensure everything has been documented internally. Dev team is still working on a patch addressing some of the issues mentioned in here, but given that it is still very much a work in progress I currently can't give you a ETA or what will or will not be addressed in it. Again, thank you for your feedback and your continued patience. All the best, Jan
For me this is no longer "standard", but simply unloving and bad. An update is still a long time coming and will only change small things, if at all. Don't expect any major route updates like the Midland Mainline (a lot has really been done here to improve the experience). For me, the DLC is still the most bland piece of content that DTG has created in 2023. It's just no fun to look around to the right and left of the driver's cab or to enjoy the route, as everything is dripping with sloppiness. Yes, even when you look ahead you can't take in the bare mountains, the empty meadows, the tufts of grass constantly growing out of the ground or the popping forests. Mangroves everywhere along the Main Gray trees on the slopes that change colors wildly depending on the zoom view Bare track bed and textures in the background like in MSTS times The only thing they did well is the 3D model of the railcar - but they can do that too Not to mention the shortcomings of the BR642 (poor handling of the drive lever, poor and cheap-sounding sound), but the track alone just looks so bad that you can't even "get drunk" about it anymore. The reviews on Steam are actually still too benevolent for me (current status balanced), but everyone has different tastes. On the much-maligned Midland Main line, at least the vehicles, physics and sound were good from the start and they sat down and made visible improvements. With all my love, I can't imagine this happening here with the Maintalbahn.
My thoughts on the route exactly. It just feels like a rush job/good enough to make some money release. It just feels sloppy, worst quality route DTG have released in a long time.
That's the good thing about Steam. Instantly got my money back and bought VirtualTracks' Ringbahn Berlin for TSC.
Tempted by the Xbox sale on this for a few moments, good thing I decided to check this thread again to restore my senses. It's a shame, because the model looks fantastic.
It's a good route overall. The railroad crossing is broken in several places. The circuit breaker does not lower Please fix the bug
Nearly 3 weeks later I want to check back and leave my thoughts here. Is it that hard to at least fix the most annoying things (the oversensitive drive lever, switch on/off the right screen in the cab and other small issues)? I am sure that you people are working on other projects but come on: Some fixes certainly wouldn't take weeks to complete. In my opinion, this just shows that you don't seem to care at all about releasing good products or improving your products so that they become better and the community is happy with them. The statement quoted is of course as vague as usual: "Yes, we've read what you don't like, but we have so much to do, we have no idea whether we'll ever tackle it." Why should you? After all, we already paid for it. I would like to apologize if this has become a rant but this sheer ignorance and complete lack of information just disappoints me. Or to put it a little more vividly: Community: "Pleeeeeease fix at least the most serious errors in your product we already paid for!" *falling on the knees and begging* DTG:
DTG don't fix stuff. If you're lucky they might fix one of like 30-50 issues with stuff half a year later. But otherwise you're pretty much stuck with the state it is sold in. I don't even know why they bother making these feedback threads, none of it ever gets acted on. None of the base TSW4 route issues have really been fixed, and that was nearly 6 months ago now.
