So I’m a new owner of a PS5 and whilst I’m waiting for other games to download both versions of TSW 4 PS4 & 5 have appeared on the main menu. So I’ve come to ask what would happen if I played the PS4 version on PS5? Would I be playing with any of the benefits of the PS5 or would I need to play version the specific to this console? Also, is profile transfer still not a thing? Thanks
Tou won't reviceve any of the PS5 version benefits from playing on the PS4 version, apart from performance improvement, so you should download the PS5 version. Profile transfer is working in TSW4.
Santa Claus has been busy, right?! Congratulations, you´ll love it. You can play the PS4 version on PS5. However, you´d lose the benefits from the PS5 version: Longer shadow and far scenery drawing distances, full AI timetables with all possible layers, plus full train lengths which is great especially if you´re into american freight. Many things had to be reduced to address the HW limitations of the PS4 console. Besides the possibility to have the game running in 4k resolution. You can trust me when I say that the differences are mind blowing. I´d never look back to the PS4 version, not even running on PS5. I Just Switched From Ps4 To Ps5… Oh My God! But here´s the bad news about a profile transfer: I´ve never tried to transfer a PS4 version profile on PS5 to the PS5 version. But it sure does not work when trying to transfer the profile from the PS4 console to PS5. The profile transfer from TSW3 PS5 version to TSW4 PS5 version works flawlessly, though. Yeah, I know it´s complicated. You shouldn´t bother to download the PS4 version, cancel it when it starts, otherwise it´ll clutter your storage for nothing. But of course, this is just me. Yep, that shouldn´t be a problem. Cancel it right when it starts (or don´t even bother to start the download when it didn´t yet) and delete it from the queue.
I use the ps4 version bc I got tsw2 on ps4, and I didn't have playstation5 then, Actually I got a ps5 just a few months after and if I download the ps5 version, yes the train layers on, But my profile stats will not be there, so I'll just stick to the ps4 version but sometimes download the ps5 one just so I can play layered services
