Today, most considered Train Simulator the most expensive game in the world! Not a good record!

Seriously? I thought there'd been a bit of an upsurge in trolling on this non-issue.

I don't see how that can be an official source as it not links to a source article, it is just somebody from Brazil making the claims.

Most of these 'most expensive' video's about Train Simulator won't tell you that you buy the content YOU want, not that you need all the content.
It is more considered as a hobby then a game as you drive on routes with trains, trying to master them then to just 'playing' as other types of games as shooter games.

Look it up on the guiness world records official website... Some Brazilian claptrap is utter nonsense.
The most expensive game ever sold came with it's own car... £125,000 pounds. Even at full price for each DLC TSx doesn't top six grand

And yet hardly expensive for a hobby...
My collection runs at about a pound per hour played so far... And that's only played as in the game is running. Add on the hours I spend watching on you tube, talking on here, looking at other sites or whatever and you're down to maybe 75p per hour. I see that as quite cheap personally

    That's indeed a complicated one ;)
Same as "wait for sales before you buy".

I'm not far off I think.
You do the math with well over 3000 hours in the game, having bought 90% of what's available on Steam (much of which when on sale) and not to forget all my 3rd party bought content too.
I don't have the courage to get my calculator and do an exact calculation :|
I'd probably get an instant heart attack :D

So yes, it can be expensive.
But that would be your own choice.
There are more than enough hobbies that'll cost you a hell of a lot more with far less hours of entertainment.

My daughter does Karate and we think that's reasonable at £5 an hour...

That sounds very reasonable. I pay £13 for a half hour piano lesson and £30 for one hour organ lesson (and those are pretty competitive rates for a professional music teacher) but as the saying goes some people "know the price of everything and the value of nothing"!

I definitely do not own all the DLC, having bought most of what I have on sale over the years, but have over 4000 hours in the simulation so would guess my cost per hour for entertainment is quite low..... and why is it everyone seem to be against choice anyway, are that really that dull thinking you have to buy it all.... that is hilarious

Only looking at the price mentioned next to the Add all DLC to Cart button makes it easier to start ranting about how expensive this game can be.
Just look at the reviews. People prefer to complain before truly thinking it through.

It's always a good idea to wait for sales on Steam or DTG's own store.
It can save you a lot of money.
Especially when there's a large sale with discounts up to 90%.

    1. it's NOT a game, it's a simulator, so the concept is different in that there is no "endgame" to this.
    2. It's also a bit more like a hobby, and hobbies CAN be expensive, or they can be cheap. How much YOU want to put in is also how much you might get out
    3. The core "game" doesn't have any actual content. They bundle content (DLC) with the engine, but all content is separate
    4. You get to CHOOSE what content you want to buy. For instance I don't care for content outside of the UK, so I have bought a lot of UK content from DTG, AP, JustTrains etc, but nothing outside of this
    5. There is a fair amount of freeware out there, some needing payware to work, some not. Either way if you want to "drive a train" you have that opportunity, even if it's always along similar stretches of track
    6. With the editor you can make your own scenarios, consists and so on, even routes... so in essence you can make your own content if you're so inclined. You can even publish it

That's not a roasting. Those are salient points intended on pointing you down the right path... Oh, and on the expense front, DTG steam sale, just bought 11 DLC for under £30... almost all 70% off
