In Train Sim World 4 the Vorarlberg route must be expanded from Lustenau to Rorschach as the expansion DLC comes.
1. Don't think telling DTG they "must" do something is going to endear your idea to them. 2. There's a separate section on this board for posts like this. It's called the Suggestions forums. And Vorarlberg is plenty long enough as it is, taking nearly 90 minutes to run an all stations "bus service" the full length of the line.
It would be nice but, I don't think DTG "Must" do anything, I also don't exactly know what expansion DLC you're talking about. Only time a route has been expanded was SEHS, and that was for good reasons. Nonetheless, it would be nice to put this in a suggestion thread with more details.
it was because they released the route when it wasnt finished. so at the beginning they gave us 60/70% of the route and later the still remaining 30%
Not really. DTG just elected to include content that was cut out at release. Besides, neither of these is an "Extension DLC" in the meaning of the OP. That (which Matt has said repeatedly they will not do) is a separate DLC which plugs into an existing standalone route, an optional add-on like a loco DLC. What we have with SEHS is a "Revised and Expanded Edition"
I think it was just 2 people who work for DTG who decided to do it as a type of passion project. (The Meissen branch)
No. Dtg saw that sehs was really popular and decided to extend it and show that it can be extended even though it required a significant amount of work. The timetable was remade, scenery was redone in many areas, obviously new lighting, etc.
The original SEHS was, by all rights, awful. It needed a lot of upgrades and they decided effectively to go all out and add Dartford & Ashford. I assume the upgrades required the route to be un-baked, therefore making an extension possible. Idk the technicalities. Also, despite being rubbish, SEHS was popular (and had a lot of DLC potential, especially with the extensions, as we've seen) so it still had the ability to be valuable for Dovetail. They've done well at making it good, in fairness. I don't think DTG ever suggested SEHS was supposed to be London-Ashford and Faversham-Dartford. The route in TSW2 was a like-for-like recreation of London-Faversham on TSC; same route, same stations (Rochester doesn't count) and same rolling stock. Dresden-Riesa wasn't an extension because the track work was already there at release. The scenery and timetable just had to be added in - which is much easier than extending the track - as that needs the baking and whatnot to be undone. Also, this: Ed and Lukas took it upon themselves to add the scenery and rework the timetable. Much like how it was one person (mostly) that has done the WSR Remaster, and how Joe takes on timetables as his own projects (such as NYT, Hamburg, Köln, etc.)
I kinda like it, even though since I like it so much I wouldnt mind extensions and more rolling stock for passenger services, like 4744/4746/4748 I am sure also does stuff around there, as it is all over Austria
There already were a great suggestion a couple of months ago, which suggested the entire S-Bahn network of Vorarlberg with the 4 country corner, including the extension of the S3 from Lustenau to at least St. Margrethen (not actually reaching up to Rorschach) and the Feldkirch-Buchs branch running also through Liechtenstein. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...-lindau-bludenz-expansions.73012/#post-707355 With an extension like that the route would not only have two additional branches to Switzerland, but as said before also running through a fourth country, Liechtenstein.
Extensions are highly unlikely. Routes are separate even if they share stations. (RRO-RSN, BML-ECW, MTB-MSB, DRA-DCZ). One reason is that all timetables need to be redone. Not economical for DTG. SEHS was an exception, and a complete rebuild instead of a simple extension. Running through Chatham, it's DTG's home route and therefore got special treatment (as in TSC with the Blackfriars-Dover/Ramsgate and Medway Valley extensions).
Well, me and I guess OP wouldn't complain with a revised and expanded edition of S-Bahn Vorarlberg, either. That would mean loads of extra work for no payment at all LOL. Absolutely unrelatable for DTG. But yes unfortunately even a paid extension will never happen if they don't even do so for more popular routes (reason why not really explained). I also think S-Bahn Vorarlberg (although I think is a very good route) is not really popular amongst players and community members and I guess many people associate the "bad" release of TSW4 with it. A shame, this route was well crafted and had some unique assets to it. Not like many (german) routes before which moreover use ones already made for other routes. I think the issue is the limit of the PC Editor to extend routes. Would give at least the possibility to anyone to do it with their own hands. If they can't do it - relatable, but if noone else can - bad.
personally I love the route, I just wish we had more passenger options... dont take me wrong - I love 4024 a lot, usually play it with my self-made CityJet (MiriJet) livery, but I would welcome Desiro ML CityJet and some Taurus consist for REX and IC services... it was this route that made me appreciate certain speeds more, dunno how I would explain that - after playing it, I started appreciating slower routes like Ruhr Sieg Nord more
