PC Tsw4: What's The State Of The Scoring System ?

Hi,

I've completed a scenario (in a TSW3 route, Thundering Through in Tharandter Rampe: Dresden - Chemnitz), making sure not to miss a single point (750/750 on all stops, 500/500 on all passenger load schedule). Did this with PZB and SIFA enabled all along and took care to never overspeed. I was expecting to earn a platinum medal for this, but I only got a gold one.

I then read a couple of threads on the matter and discovered that the system had been reworked after having been criticized for being too easy. I also didn't see the Score Breakdown pane in the Performance Breakdown screen at the end of the run.

So what is the state of things now? Has the whole feature been disabled? What am I missing?

 

Can you even get Platinum on non-TSW4 routes? Or is gold the max level?

 

Only those that have it. All new tsw4 routes get it. Some older routes have it as well which need to be manually updated

 

Well, on Maintalbahn, all services that I completed (around half of the services) got Platinum after one playthrough, despite the horrendous timeframe you have to deal with that results in you being late 95% of the time.

 

From what I have heard, the new scoring in TSW4 is even more broken than before. But I don't have the game, so I can't say for certain.

Is there a way to know which routes have this feature enabled and which ones don't?

 

All TSW4 routes have new scoring.
All TSW3, TSW2 ,and TSW2020 routes do not.

 

Hmm, contradictory information

What might have given me the wrong idea is that 7 platinum medals were visible on my profile as soon as I had migrated my TSW3 profile to TSW4. All 7 were all attributed on training scenarios. So now I'm guessing that these training scenarios might be the only TSW3 items that Dovetail has ported/upgraded to TSW4 scoring full-compat.

 

Interesting! I wonder why DTG would do that. I can understand something like Naverkehr Dresden, since that was sold in the Deluxe edition bundle, and if you add the 5 locos from there to the 66 from ECML and the 185 from Vorarlberg (both of which were auto-completed for me when I first launched the game), it adds up to 7.

 

Not 100% true anymore, but a general guideline yeah.
Midland Mainline has new Scoring for example, and is a TSW3 route. It looks like WSR might get the new scoring with its update as well.

From my experience it’s easier not harder to get an outrageous five figure score.

And the inconsistency between doing a 40 minute commuter or transit run for 15k points versus a 90 minute freight drag on Clinchfield or SPG for 4K points was never addressed.

 

Sometimes I play with SIfa / PZB on and after a timetable i have N/A by the security systems....
but i recieve the platinum medal.

Or a future feature that has not been fully implemented yet.

 

The giveaway is the summary/scoring screen after you finish. If it has the new screen with breakdown categories (speeding, safety systems, hard impact etc), then TSW4 scoring is in effect on that route. If all you get is a plain score, it's the old system.

 

Its a shame this is in such disarray as it was a big selling point for me and others on TSW4

Easy fix. CTRL+6, hide the nonsense and move on.

 

I would always say not to remove a feature what does no damage to others, the hide is the opt out for those what don’t want it, not complete removal for those that do

personally I was hoping originally all routes would have it, especially the part what awards 64AP instead of 30 (why 64 I don’t know, could have went a more even number like 60) as I was going to use it to fix the services what don’t allow gold due to the threshold being too high for a normal run.

 

Err did I say that I bought the game because of the scoring system? NO I DID NOT. I said it was a selling point .

Forgive me, but if the scoring system is a selling point, then surely it is one of the reasons for purchasing the game.

Basically Scoring 2.0 doesn't work as advertised. It's too easy to get the platinum medal. I just have the AP points turned off though because I don’t care about points or medals

 

Basically along with dynamic weather, suspension physics, etc. it gets tossed on the heap of "hey look what we did!" pre-release hype followed by post release "ho hum, we didn't really do that, oops". Enjoy!

 

To answer the question succinctly, ‘Broken. A waste of time’.

 

It was a selling point in that it was advertised as such . I still purchased it and am enjoying it but it was obviously not the be all and end all . Maybe I did not explain myself correctly and do not want to get into a row about it , that’s not why I come on here .It was false advertising and like so much else , I doubt it will be fixed . Im just ignoring it now and enjoying the rest of the game .

 

Also noticed a few random journeys on GWE have platinum switched on! Very strange.
