Steam Repeatedly Re-validating Files As Tsw4 Won't Start

Discussion in 'TSW Troubleshooting & Issues Discussion' started by SD40Australia, Jan 10, 2024.

  1. Had a few page fault in non paged area recently. (When computer restarts)

    https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/fix-page-fault-in-non-paged-area-bsod-in-windows-10/

    That is rare for me.

But I have been having to validate files on Steam and reacquire them. Once this happens it starts.

    How is this happening?

Unsure if it's due memory or the case temp is similar to video card, it does get hot when TSW4 is running.

It is air cooled and no overclocking except Radeon is O/C factory only.

After re-downloading them I get Unreal CTD.

  2. Solved. Well I think it is a power issue external to TSW4 software and Windows.

  3. Well I spoke too soon.
I am having to validate my files then Steam will re-download a few files.

    What is going on?

Firewall in Windows Defender has TSW4 as allowed.

I am unsure how to give admin rights to Steam as it starts on launch.

I will try to search DTG and google for this issue with other people.

    Any ideas?

    EDIT:

I cleared download cache in Steam. Let's see.....

  4. Again had to download 96 files.

Is Window's Defender the culprit here?

Also 310.8mb download for both I think, TSW4 and Steamworks common redistributables.

I have the Steam app and TSW4 allowed in Windows Defender firewall.

Unsure how to allow it in App and Browser control-reputation based protection.

  5. I am running the stuttering fix which has never been a problem.

I think the same Unreal crash as before.

This is after repairing the library in Steam>settings>Storage for TSW4

That's how to make Steam run in Admin mode, but I doubt this is the cause of the issue.
Have you tried without the fix?

I've googled it and given your dxgi error device removed, it's something to do with your gpu not running properly. Maybe try reinstalling the drivers, updating or reverting to an older version? Make sure the gpu is set up properly and is being used through the device manager maybe?

  8. I will now.

  9. Good idea. Thank you.

  10. Downloading the full Adrenalin edition has worked for me. No more issues. Maybe I need to download video drivers more often.

Yes - always keep your graphics drivers up to date. Many drivers will update via the Windows Update system but not all, so you will need to keep an eye on them manually. I have a friend who had never updated their drivers and had to make a massive jump in driver software to be able to export things in Blender correctly.
