Which brings me to a question I wanted to ask for quite while: How does a real world loco driver handle the situation when nature calls? I know the American freight monsters might offer even a jacuzzi, but German or British locos?

 

Tried it on a free weekend for zero dollars. Was still too expensive and quickly uninstalled it. At this point they'd probably have to pay me to use it.

 

Maybe the same way astronauts do 8-hour space walks... Adult absorbent pants. I think that's the only way I'd get away with it

To be honest, the passengers could do with what I suggested; they don't have the privacy for a plastic bottle.

But, passengers have the toilet! Not so much on the services I ride on. Half the time they're out of order. I suppose TSW is realistic in the sense you can't access the toilets

 

Modern locos (Traxx, Vectron, etc.), in many cases, have a toilet in the engine room.

 

That's where the SIM part of the name comes into play But most passenger services get a longer stop once in a while, so you should be fine. Freight gets held up often, so that's usually fine.

 

I think you're overlooking the kind of scenario I presume Eldomtom is referring to, which applies to me too: say I begin a steam run on Peak Forest, and I have 20 minutes to spare; I want to run the whole service, but I'll be stopping in 20 minutes and I may not return to it for 2 days, continuing exactly where I left off. That isn't going to work in multiplayer SimRail.

Where I live there are some very long suburban and rural bus routes and, although toilets are provided at the turn- arounds, it might be a problem.
I rarely ride the bus anymore, but I remember a few years ago a driver did stop the bus, nip into a nearby restaurant and was gone for many minutes, leaving the bus running and the passengers a bit confused.

Couldn't do that with a train, of course, except with the modern electrostars, any passenger could take over and continue the journey if necessary.

 

And what if I have to put the game down for a long time?

Assuming we are referring to SimRail, then unfortunately the only way as mentioned earlier is to note roughly the location where you quit then next time you play the game use the (third party) MP server tracker map to find a train in the vicinity which if operated by AI you can pull it up from the list in game and takeover. However despite my enjoyment of SimRail it is a far from perfect solution and I am all for the SP game getting a significant buff with more services, the save/checkpoint system and maybe even some sort of quick drive, which you can also save.

 

In the manual of the Bernina Line it still says "Train Sim World 3"... Which is funny I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

That could possibly mean the route, like Blackpool, was intended for TSW3 originally. No guarantees though, it could be another instance of the Berenina effect.

 

There's been a relatively large internal change to TSW 4 on Steam, a lot of depots were with including apps/DLCs. I do wonder if these are the future DLCs for this year

 

DTG tends to reserve large blocks of apps for future DLC every so often. Not all of them get used.

I think at this stage we maybe need to move it towards crowd funding a search party for the TSW senior management. They haven’t been seen or heard from since well before Christmas. The only DTG presence has been Alex with release announcements etc., and Jan doing some moderation.

Starts off simple but gets more complex and all aimed at getting players to spend money on premium currency (which I don't). Same developer which makes the battle/base building Clash Of Clans.

 

What are DTG doing?
They're putting the finishing touches to TSW4 GOBLIN in preparation for the first WIP shots and then a stream for it.
Then they're sorting out the next US & UK DTG releases, which if they were me would be New York Subway A Line from Inwood-207 St to Rockaway and an AC Electric Network South East-era route with new trains to drive.
They will also testing Rivet's next addition to TSW4 (hopefully an updated Cathcart Circle with Barrhead added and a Class 380) and preparing for the release schedule.

Meanwhile over in the TSC corner they're putting the finishing touches to their first modern era UK route since WCML south and testing its new traction.

I hope.

Gonna wait for tsw5 before I jump from 3! 4 was a epic fail. IF tsw5 comes out.... BPO is the only dlc I want but jumping to 4 isnt worth £59.98.

Even the 45% off for standard isnt worth it.
