All good for me so far. They add so much to the immersion, I’d love to see Rivet go back and make them automatic on Edinburgh to Glasgow
Unfortunately I’ve seen it raining and snowing in the two tunnels after Alp Grum (when heading down the route).
Absolutely loving this, but I cannot advance to Chapter 3 of the Journey because R1633 appears to be broken. I'm on XBSX. Root cause appears to be a runaround service-in-progress at Tirano that loads in with this one. It doesn't move at all from what I can tell. Personally, I'd rather see it removed from the Journey as a hotfix because it's the longest damn one and I just want to Journey in nice weather dagnabbit! Edit: Walked my pathetic ass over to the runaround service. It is R5656, which starts 13:30. R1633 loads in at 13:33.
I had an issue playing the scenario "close call delivery" on SX. Scenario started off fine and I was adhering to all speed limits on my mini HUD. I played all introductions before and never had an issue with the speed limit, but this time with no clear indication on the HUD I would randomly start speeding. Also just want to reiterate what people have said about the mid-40 frame rate on the series x
I heard somewhere before that it's easier to extend a route if the track has already been laid before. This doesn't mean that they will extend it, but it means that if they chose to... it would be easier.
I've run into a couple of these unfortunately, but you can complete the service by deleting the stuck AI train using the map. I'm wondering if the cause is that the downhill runs tell you to stop at "Tirano 3A", but the stop markers are actually at 3C (closer to the uphill end of the platform). In any case, hopefully a fix is in the works, because the route overall is fantastic IMO. Automatic announcements add so much to the immersion- should be a standard feature.
It is slamming the brakes on for passing a green signal on this route, I can't get a single timetable run completed.
I'm still at the learning stage with this route. but here are some preliminary comments: 1. Engine tutorial: I've tried this several times, but still cannot get past the stopping point near the top of a steep grade, at which point, although I've set the controls as instructed the engine starts rolling back down hill at a rapidly increasing speed. The oral and written instructions simply fail to tell me how to bring the train to a complete stop. By the way, unlike most tutorials, this one does not provide keyboard equivalents for the various controls. 2. Again, Engine Tutorial: this begins with walking past the designated engine to change a switch, but here as elsewhere there's no mention of how to reach the switch (the only way I know to do this is by using the W and S keys, but the only mention of keyboard shortcuts relates to boarding the engine after that switch has been changed. And, just to be really picky, I'll note that footsteps sound like you're walking on a solid surface rather than the heavy layer of snow that covers the ground. 3. User's manual (which isn't easy to find, by the way: Here again, there's no mention of keyboard (or controller, etc.) shortcuts. Otherwise, the manual covers cab controls very thoroughly, but the only mention of keyboard equivalents is in regard to vigilance and safety systems. Just one more comment here: in attempts to bring this engine to a complete stop I have managed to trip the emergency brake. According to the manual, recovery from this requires bringing the engine to a complete stop, etc., but in my experience simply reducing the brakes to their normal range eliminates the need for a restart -- of course, the engine will be rapidly racing down hill after doing this. 4. Despite these problems, I have been able to complete one scenario and one timetable service -- despite numerous failures to do so, mostly due to passing a red signal because I cannot control the brakes properly. All of that aside, I am not giving up on this route, which offers, among other things, well modeled scenery and challenging driving experiences.
For stopping/hill starts, i've been doing the following: Slow to 15kph using the power-brake controller (PBC) Apply train brake (15% or so) to bring train to a halt and hold it. Open doors Set PBC to forward throttle appx 20% Close doors Release train brakes The train will start accelerating towards your set cruise-control speed and prevents roll-back on starting. I believe it's mentioned in the tutorial.
Are you acknowledging ZSI when passing distant signals? I've been acknowledging anything that isn't "proceed" and haven't had any issues with penalty braking so far.
For sure there is something wrong.... This is by my pc also an issue.... Its a big point from Cavaglia until Poschiavo.... And then when you didn't run to the hill but more when you look in the direction to Poschiavo downwards....
Well, despite the fact that I still think Ospizio is a strange end point. I’ve bought this on PS5 instead of PC (as it’s much cheaper than on Steam here in Switzerland). I’ve not been a big fan of Rivet’s routes up to now (apart from Island Line 22 which I really liked) and I’ve not been a fan of their lack of bug fixes in the past. However, congratulations Rivet. This is done really well. I like to travel on this line whenever I can in real life. In my opinion it’s been done really well and while the scenery isn’t perfect, it’s an extremely good representation, I’m really enjoying it and finding it really quite immersive. The Allegra is great and for the most part sounds really good. If only DTG would pull their finger out and give us some tutorials on timetable creation in the editor, I’d have a crack at putting it on Arosa. My main complaint so far is pretty minor and that there seems to be a very large amount of, what looks like a 1950’s Rover in gray. I’ve never seen one of these here in real life. Not even at the British Classic Car meeting at Morges. Also some places seem to be missing traffic completely. A really pleasant surprise. Would love to see the rest of the route to St Moritz at some point.
Just ran service R1625 down the hill and at Campocolongo I encountered a red signal that would not clear. I went to the map and there was an AI train sitting at the platform at Tirano I need to access. Using free roam, I flew down to Tirano and was able to set that train up so it started up the hill. Once it got to my location, I got my green and proceeded to finish the service. In running this service I also encountered a save issue. When re-starting from the save, I had safety systems on prior, the systems continued to function, but, the audio for them did not sound. Found this out when I passed a yellow over green but got no warning. ZS worked fine and stopped me. To get out of this, I had to turn off the cab and then back on, well, besides getting me going again it also got the audio alarms working again.
Unfortunately I have now experienced announcements failing to play. I’ve just arrived at Miralago and didin’t get one. Same now at Brusio, so it seems as previously reported they just stopped playing. They were working fine up to Miralago. Not that it should matter in the slightest (because 7 year old game) but I had resumed from a save.
That's interesting. I watched a British Ace video last night and he didn't get any announcements. He started on foot and 'hijacked' a train.
I assume you've all seen the videos of trains running down to St Moritz? Here's an example in English (you can always turn the volume down!):
So I guess it really was planned to be the full route originally, which would have removed nearly all complaints.
Or charge the same ammount, get more sales because it is now a full route and more people are likely to buy it, everyone is happy. But even with a bigger pricetag I think people would be more happy to buy a full route than a half route.
My thought it was maybe a tight release Schedule from FE/DTG, Rivet had to follow. Since the "core route" all the way to St. Moritz is already laid, my hopes to a DLC from Rivet in about 6-12 months is in the pipeline. And we should get it for free (or at a very reduced price) if we already own the TSW4 Bernina Route.
a little thing in timetable: starting in Tirano the trains stands not so very passenger-friendly at first door By the way: is it normal that in timetable not every station is a regular stop as for example Miralago?
It should be free. If it's a paid extension I would be absolutely livid... I mean we got almost the entire S1 Line on Resia Dresden for free.
It's not easy to create all the detailed scenery for the track. It's still around 22km, not km so you're looking at a new game basically. You could argue sehs was free but you had to buy tsw3 so technically not free.
On the Early Morning Shift scenario. When you drive to train into Poschiavo and then it wants you to reverse and couple to 3 wagons. The traction lock applies and I can't do anything to release it. Not even resetting the physics works. DTG implemented a help feature for this very reason and, just like with the cursor locking onto a signal (if next to one) when using the 2d map to switch junctions, Rivet have decided they can't be bothered to impement new features. (Ps5 btw). This was the last chance I was giving Rivet. They've once again released an unfinished product. Dovetail, have some QC for once with your 3rd party devs
Found two spots where the snow texture has a little whole. First one short after Posciavo, southbound, and second at Brusio. P.S. that one departure signal at Brusio southbound is a damn thing. It hides so bad in a curve I could not barely see it from the marker post without to get an scenario end because it was red.
Wouldn't being "absolutely livid" be somewhat of an overreaction? Why should it be free (if it happens)?
No snow cover acording to elevation and season. For example: in winter over 1500m there should always be snow, no matter how Tirano looks like...
I'll buy it when they finish it. To see another half finished route with all the track laid but only half the scenery is really disappointing. Toton was bad enough...
With safety systems on, some of the stop marker boards at shared departure signals are causing wrongful emergency brake applications when the signal is green. The passing loop just before Le Prese when heading towards Tirano is a good example of this. The stop marker at Brusio is also so far past the platform that it makes it almost impossible to load/unload passengers. Other than this the route is great! Get the safety systems fixed and this is one of the better routes for TSW.
Extra track is nothing new to tsw. More stuff gets modeled then necessary to either future proof since I've read it's easier to prelay the track than to add it in later on or the tech just does it automatically.
Track laying is the first thing that happens after importing terrain data. These extra tracks take a few minutes only to lay, and it's easier to provide a little more track just to make sure before passing the build to the scenery team. It's not a hint or anything, it just makes sure there's track for the AI to run off the map and it's not visible for the player that track suddenly disappears.
Actually, most textures are from the TSC version. And, you'll notice that the TSC version has even higher resolution textures. Of course, the mountains are not that pretty
Having just played a service on the Blackpool route and been reminded of the ever changing tree colours, I must say Rivet has done an excellent job at minimising the visual impact of tree pop-in on Berninalinie.
With expectations like these I can guarantee you that Rivet is not working on this "extension". Why should they?
Because assumably the full route was the original scope to begin with. As a customer, why are you satisfied with half a route for the price of a full route? Finish the route properly and sell ABe 4/4 add-on alongside it and they could generate a lot of new sales.
And this half route is 100 minutes end to end, more than Arosa. Is GWE a full route? ECML? RSN? KWG? MAG? ECW? And so on. It depends on the work it takes to sell the DLC for the target price. Some people don't want to understand this and literally search for things to be unhappy with it seems. Even in TSC it was released in two DLC, Rivet did Tirano-Poschiavo and Thomson did Poschiavo-St.Moritz. You wouldn't get one for free, as you yourself wouldn't work for free for a month or two, would you?
Technical feedback 1. Instrument lights / desk lights: The dimmer needs to be downscaled, 2% is already full intensity, everything else is overbright. 2. Displays: way too bright, rework the textures and lower brightness. Screen dimmers were already introduced in TSW 2020.
That depends on the legth of the route in real life. For instance: Glossop line is a "full route" but quite short, similar as the Niddertalbahn. Bernina or the for instance the Kassel-Würzburg route are much longer irl. So even though they are not "full", the last ones mentioned give more gameplay time than the "full route" of Glossop...
So? We can't have routes longer than 1.5 hours? Arosa at least is a full route. If Arosa had the same LIDAR terrain, then Arosa would be the better route out of the two, regardless of being shorter. No, many of them are not full routes, and many of them have been criticized for being too short, like RSN. Of course, not offering a full route is understandable if it is a really long route. Noone would expect a complete NEC for example. But Bernina Line is literally just 60kms. That is not out of scope for a TSW route. In comparison, PBO is 77 kms, RSN is 61 kms, ECML is 128 kms, etc. So what is the excuse here? Yes, and combining the two you can get the full line in TSC. But that will never happen in TSW, because who is going to make the remaining section? Noone, because it's too short to be a standalone route. And currently route merges are not a thing in TSW anyway. So chances of ever having a complete Bernina Line for TSW currently are none. Why is it that hard to comprehend and understand this part of the complaint? Many of us would be happy to pay more for the full route, or have it be two separate add-ons with the ability to merge like in TSC. But that likely is not going to happen, so we're left with half a route forever.
Then that's how it is. I think it's better to focus on the things that are there in the route feedback thread, not things that aren't there, as much as you wish them to be. These discussions don't go anywhere and make the thread harder to read for Rivet to find reported issues. It says Tirano - Ospizio. Take it or leave it.
My man, it is literally called a feedback thread. "I find the route too short and would prefer the full route" is a valid feedback, whether you are satisfied with the current length or not. Leaving it is exactly what I will do, I think I am capable of making that decision myself, but thanks. But leaving feedback is still helpful, because otherwise they will pull the typical DTG excuse of "this route didn't sell well because people are not interested in Swiss routes", ignoring the real reasons. Of course I am not saying it sold badly, as I don't know the sales figures, but you get what I am trying to say.
I reckon Kassel-Würzburg is so long because you're hauling ass through half of it at 250 km/h ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
In the scenario Hot Wheels, when coupled to the SP-W wagons, the second wagon wouldn't register its handbrake as being fully released, even though it had spun all the way to the end, and the tooltip said "released" - but the objective didn't pop. Other than that, been very impressed by the route so far.
