I decided to use that tittle due it is ok, related to a really "ugly" feature I have been reported about the "deformation" of the train designs when you use "close image effect".

This does not happens always, and on all trains, but it does!
I was running with a BR187 on Dresden Riesa, and in some part of the route, when taken pictures, this issue appeared!

Please notice how the locomotive design changed!
    Just by zooming in.

    Really ugly!
As I have mentioned before, when there is no difference about performance at all, when the train looks that way. So from one hand no real benefit, about performance, and for the other hand, really bad about visuals!
Not forget, the visuals of this simulator, is one of the key features you get, comparing with other ones.

But due to that "deformation", I could enter to the cabin, moving freely inside!
Something you can't normally are allowed to do.

Then take a look of the pictures:

Note: I enter the cabin through the front side small window.

Of course... I prefer this does not happens!
But unfortunately DTG insists about it.
Frankly speaking do not understand why.

Other locomotives and trains does not have it, and there are no problems.
I prefer some stutters than having those ugly images!

    Hello,

I want to clarify what you're seeing here is a lower LOD of the train, essentially it's a low-res version of the locomotive and it's a very standard process for all games to include higher and lower resolutions (or LODs) for all game assets to help the performance of the game. If something is very far away for example, we don't need the game to be rendering it in full detail as we wouldn't see it anyway. This can also be factored in regarding quality settings in the main menu.

So the "deformation" you've shown here is simply the lower-resolution version of the train model, however, what isn't intended is the ability to get close enough and inside the model without it updating to a higher resolution.

I hope that shares some information on what you're seeing :)

Any reason why it sometimes happens when you’re in the train?

Could be for several reasons, potentially a bug or an isolated case. If it's a repeatable issue with the 187 above, then with further details we can get our QA teams to investigate.

If players report seeing this happen more often across different routes and various locos then we can look into reasons for the overall cause of this.

Something also worth considering is what hardware the game is running on. When I used to play TSW and TSW2 on PS4, when the train models would be loaded in when previewing the trains in the menu they'd default to the low LOD model, before slowly being replaced with the full quality model. Sometimes however it would get stuck on the lower LOD model and never change.

The PS4 is a relatively slow console and has a hard drive which may contribute. I play TSW3 on PC which is installed to a SATA SSD, and while the low LOD issue does still occur it is much less common than on the PS4 and when it does happen it only takes a fraction of a second for the model to be replaced.

Thank you Alex for your reply.

I know about that technique, related to far objects have less visual definition. Which of course it has sense. I agree with that.
But please notice, this case is the contrary!.
This happens when you want to see closer objects, using zoom in. Mainly with Photo Mode.

But it is important to mention, this is not a BR187 issue. I believe this is the first time with it.
This happens with other locomotives too. Not all of them.
Even it does not happens always, when you run a train on a route.
You take pictures with Photo Mode, zooming in without any problems on most of the route, but then it happens sometimes.
I believe this happens mostly on newer routes than older ones.
In this case is Dresden Riesa for TSW4, so it is like that.

Please see below some pictures I took about this issue on other cases:

I am on PS4, which of course I know is not the most powerful hardware , but I can enjoy TSW4 very much, with it!
Running is smoothly on most of the routes, without issues.
Furthermore I have noticed the improvements, you have done to some "heavy resources" areas like Munich Hbf or Dresden Hbf ones.
Previously on TSW3, on both ones, I had to save the game before arriving, as usually the "blue screen" showing an error and ended the game, appeared.
Both cases does not happens anymore with TSW4!
Which means, you have done a great job improving the game performance!
Even for the less powerful hardware.

So, just I am informing this, and you can find the cause why the trains are visualized that way, -sometimes-, when you zoom in the image for taking pictures with photo mode - due to I like very much to do it - as it is a great tool too.

Hopes further improvements be done, to eliminate this.

    Thank you very much Alex!
